Super cool spot. Upon arriving, I had no clue where the entrance was. It was only when people came out of the building that I realized that was the entrance. Once inside, I was left in awe of the magnitude of the place. A huge old warehouse transformed into a book “store”? Absolutely amazing. REMEMBER, you put the price in the books, not the other way around. When I was here, the cashier tried to give me a price when it shouldn't be like that. Don't feel intimidated and pay whatever you think is fair. There’s also a Spanish section right by the entrance.

This is my new favorite place! Great price on books, free children’s books, and they donate a book to schools or nonprofits for every book sold. Social conscious in action!

Such a community gem! This nonprofit bookstore offers FREE children’s and young adult books (though if you’re able, donations are obviously going to be much appreciated). The adult books are all marked $4 but are pay-what-you-want. Pilsen is lucky to have Open Books! If you have a bunch of books you’ve already read that are just sitting around at home and wanting to be read by others, you should definitely donate to one of their many locations and drop boxes throughout the city! They also have volunteering opportunities, go check out their website! I love this organization and have been telling everyone I know in Chicago about them. They even sell online!

What a great cause. We donate all our books here. Warehouse vibes, which works! If you need a fancy fancy bookstore with Starbucks this isn’t your spot.

Great place with a ton of different books, quiet, and with sofas for you to sit while you check out the books you've picked out. The kids and teen books are also free.

Support this amazing non profit. They give free books to children and have a “pay what you can” policy. If you are able, always pay full price (which is very cheap anyway) so this gem of a book place stays viable.
