Service is inconsistent. Overall the treatment is ok, but the doctor is in and out quickly and doesn't seem to take much time with the patients. Their scheduling system doesn't always work and outages have led to poor service and wait times. I waited for close to an hour in the waiting room to be seen for one of my appointments, while watching patients who arrived after me get called back.

I wasn’t very impressed with care received here. Northwestern has some great people but also seems to be overloaded with patients and unable to treat certain conditions effectively. They were unable to diagnose my condition and refused to let me get another opinion from a doctor specialized in similar issues on their staff. I feel like it would be better if they at least tried to see if their other doctors could help me rather than send me somewhere else. They advised that I could get a 2nd opinion from NW if I went to another region quite far away.Prices are also very high compared to other providers/hospitals and the dr/nursing staff don’t take that into account when making treatment plans for patients.Overall I would avoid this place and seek somewhere with lower patient workload that is focused on treating patients rather than protecting the hospital.

I had an appointment for a second opinion. When I made the appointment over a month ago, I explained what surgery I had and when I had the surgery, why I am making the appointment and that I was a referral. I drove over an hour to see Dr. Wiedrich. I was given a medical questionnaire to fill out and asked to pay my co-pay. I then was asked when my surgery was and was told that the Dr. will not see me if a year did not pass since the surgery. I was baffled. They couldn’t tell me this when I made the appointment? Then the lady said “I am going to pull up the transcripts to see what was said and what happened during the appointment with the call center, but we have to cancel today. There seem to be some confusion. Frankly, the doctor most likely will not feel comfortable removing a plate that another doctor put in; there is a lot of complications that can happen, etc. and he would not have enough time to review your xrays today anyway. We need to review all the records before giving a second opinion“ I was stunned. I literally took my refunded copay receipt and left. Who does that? They completely wasted my time and didn’t even seem like they cared. I already had the appointment, why not see me and maybe put me at ease and guess what? If they could not do anything for another 5 months, so be it, but an experienced surgeon would know right away what the problem may be and at least advise. I cried all the way down in the elevator. I think I didn’t have energy to argue because I was in pain and I already feel defeated and helpless. Maybe the doctor is good, but the fact that he refused to see me says a lot about his lack of care and compassion. I am very disappointed. That’s not the way to do business.

They were wonderful. From the front desk check in during the time of Covid, to Dr. Shah and his staff, to the incredible “back of the house” where the magic happens, everything was great. Patience is needed but compassion and kindness, along with amazing precautions to keep us all safe made this a great experience to fix my hand. I’m so grateful.

Dr Chirag M Shah, one of the orthopedic specialist at this clinic, was mt first experience with a "hand specialist." I was uneasy during my first visit because he made minimal effort to talk with me - he talked at me - and handed me a brochure. His cursory examination was painful but I replied only with numbers as requested. An imaging test and a blood-stick test were ordered. Adjacent therapy lab provided a splint and brace - one for each hand - and advised I could return for adjustment to the splint if needed. I returned twice for adjustments - very helpful. Second visit was worse than first; examination was extremely painful until I protested. I had definite impression Dr Shah was reciting a set speech he had delivered numerous times before. When I reminded him I was older than "average" patient and time frame for recovery he mentioned was too optimistic he was affronted. He ordered another imaging test. Fortunately this one did not take 3 months to schedule. At third and final visit apparently he did not want to discuss anything other than last imaging test and my refusal for another steroid shot. I had gone to this office visit prepared to suggest a second opinion. After a brief exchange of comments I left and did not make an appointment for future office visits with Dr Shah.

Just left appt today 12/16/19. Two of the Registration desk clerks are very unprofessional. They play at the desk, clapping and loud talking. They look to be new.

I waited 6 weeks for an appointment, which was not unexpected. I was looking forward to the relief. The appointment was on exact time and the doctor came In, sat down, looked at my hand , wiggles my fingers around and told the nurse to give me two shots of Cortizone in the palm and I was all set and good to go. My appointment lasted 7 to 10 minutes max. Over the last month the pain has increased so I called back to request a different doctor in the same office for possibly another opinion. I was told I would need to get a release from the previous doctor as I had already established a relationship and he would need to release me to the new doctor. As the patient, I thought I had the right to choose my doctor apparently not in this office. So After waiting almost 20 minutes on hold for an office manager I hung up called an orthopedic surgeon at rush hospital and got an appointment for next Monday. There's no excuse for bad customer service.

Came in with occupational hand pain and they offered no solutions or advice. During my visit I also saw a resident with no bedside manner who stared at my chest the whole time. Hopefully medicine shifts soon as I’m starting to feel like home remedies and WebMD are more effective than seeing a doctor 9/10.

Hands down (no pun intended LOL) THE BEST!!! group of Orthopedic Hand Surgeons in the Chicagoland/Northwest Indiana area! Their attention to detail and old school medicine bedside manner only add to the extreme amount of knowledge and excellence that this group of surgeons encompass! They never push surgery unless it is absolutely necessary and will try every which way to avoid it if you don't need it. Go somewhere else if you want to, but you're only wasting your time, because eventually you will end up seeing them. Their front desk staff, their secretaries, and their manager Doreen, are all friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They even go the extra mile to make sure and schedule any test they order for you and your surgery (if needed) the same day and try to make those tests and surgeries happen as soon, and as smooth, as possible. I had the pleasure of working with Yolanda and she helped me every step of the way and never made me feel like I was a bother. Add in that they have X-ray and occupational therapy on site! Keep up the fantastic work! Northwestern needs more offices like yours!

I had a carpal tunnel release procedure and it went as smooth as butter. Dr. Nagle was friendly, informative and is one of those rare doctors that has not only exemplary knowledge of the procedure, but his own technique that he has perfected over years of being in practice, and cares about his patients.
