My sister had an older dog that had been going to this clinic for many years. We adopted a puppy and started going there 14 years ago. In the beginning, the service was amazing! They knew everything about my dog and he was greatly treated.
The last 5 -6 years turned. At age 14, my dog died of severe liver cancer. We did not even know he had liver cancer.
The last few weeks, we were calling the vet to schedule an appointment as he wasn’t feeling well, but they were too busy. Finally our dog was not eating, drinking, started vomiting and had diarrhea. They told us just to take him to the ER vs making an extra appointment to see our dog, who they have known his medical history for 14 years. They ended up recommending us to Bond Vet on Damen, who were amazing. They moved appointments around for our dog who was in need. They ended up finding large cancer cells on his liver ….North Ave never told us about this or found cancer…Unfortunately, my dog passed away the next day in his home due to that sickness. We brought him to a different hospital on the Northside for cremation, they were great too, Premier. Premier and Bond both sent us handwritten letters of how sorry there were for our loss, etc. I called North Avenue to let them know the dog they cared for 14 years passed… nothing.
Do not go there you can find better clinics in the area that actually care.

Overall the staff and service are top notch as everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable for the 6 years I've been going here for my two cats. All of their recommendations and help have worked for the cats, which I'm very thankful for. The only knock would be that their prices have increased greatly over the last 1-2 years. It was 1k for lab, wellness visit and a vaccine for two senior cats.

Since our very first visit, the entire staff at North Ave Animal Hospital has been extremely friendly and accomodating. I first brought in my cat Cedric a few weeks ago, and since then we have primarily been seen by Dr. Doan. She has been great at thoroughly explaining everything we needed to know, extremely attentive and patient, and most importantly she always made sure to choose the best course of action after each visit. I really appreciate the work everyone here does and the amazing knowledgeable staff. It can be so hard to find the right vet clinic for you, where you can rest assured your fur babies are receiving the best quality care. My cat Cedric is finally back to his normal self and we are so happy that after a long time searching we have found our new go to clinic! :)

The staff here are so kind and actually care about your furry one's health and comfort. We love all of the staff and every appointment is a great experience. I want to call out Dr. Esther Cherrick for her incredible depth of knowledge, attention to detail, and positive bubbly demeanor. Thanks North Ave Animal Hospital- I am always confident you have my pup's best interest at heart!

Very nice folks but unfortunately I will be going elsewhere as it’s very pricey - for an annual basic exam and the basic vaccines/lepto booster for a 20 lb dog, (and not including special ones like Lyme etc) expect them to charge you around $600-$700 total. The last exam and vaccine appt at the vet I went to before was a total of $400 for everything. They also quoted me $1300-1700 for ONE tooth removal and a dental cleaning. If cost isn’t a problem, these are nice people who treat your pet kindly. But for those looking for fair prices, I’ll be looking elsewhere moving forward.

The doctors, vet techs, and staff at North Avenue Animal Hospital are just wonderful. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and really take the time to answer any questions we may have for our fur babies.
I take both my Shih Tzu (Bao Bao) and cat (George) to see Dr. Chada. If I can’t get an appointment with her, all of the other doctors are fabulous, so you can’t go wrong!
George was overweight (probably still is lol), and Dr. Chada recommended a prescribed dry kibble for him that has actually helped him lose over a pound! He is looking great!
Dr. Chada has seen Bao Bao since she was a little baby pup. She also performed the spay procedure, and I knew Bao Bao was in good hands.
This year, Bao Bao was nominated as Patient of the Month for July. It was so sweet to have her photo and story on IG and at the front desk. Bao Bao even got a little goodie bag.
Thank you for being amazing human beings at North Ave Animal Hospital. You obviously care about our pets, who are nothing less than our beloved family members and an integral part of our lives. I appreciate you!! And so does Bao Bao and George!

I left a review in May after my cat had to be put to sleep. I praised the staff and still do, but asked the business to stop the upsetting avalanche of emails trying to sell cremation/memorial services in the hours immediately following.
I got this email today, and I see my previous review has been removed.
So glad you enjoyed putting my cat to sleep.
Two stars because the staff who actually took care of my cat were wonderful, and I know they’re not responsible for this.

I have so much confidence you’ll feel secure taking your fur baby/babies here. The doctors and staff are thorough, calm, smart, and most importantly caring. Dr. Doan found a large tumor (although benign) in one of my cats belly last year, and she was 7 at that time. No other vet mentioned that before. So, that speaks to the thoroughness of the exam. Dr. Cherrick spayed my other cat and I appreciated the detailed explanation of the procedure. It helped ease my anxiety. This should be your primary vet clinic if you’re in the area. They’re wonderful!

This place is horrible. My dog had her annual appointment scheduled for this morning. I showed up 5 minutes early, at which point they informed me that they didn't have her appointment in the system. They had switched systems, and it didn't transfer her existing appointment (and the doctor had an emergency so she wasn't there?!). After a lot of wrangling (they tried to make me come back a different day), they said that they had her checked in. I informed them that she needed her medication refilled as well, and I asked them to please make sure it was filled when I checked out so that I wouldn't have to wait after she was seen for another length of time. I then waited another 30 minutes, at which point I asked when they could see her and they said I had to keep waiting (they didn't tell me that it would be such a long wait when they told me they had checked her in).
At that point, I asked for one month of her medication and her medical records. Despite requesting the medication earlier, I had to wait another 15 minutes for them to refill it (because they hadn't when I had previously asked).
To simply erase a patient from their system, not contact the patient when something went wrong, and to not immediately fix the situation is unacceptable. I cannot trust North Avenue Animal Hospital with the care of my dog.

We have been coming here for 3 years now and couldn’t be happier! Everyone we have interacted with from the front desk, to the vet techs, to the veterinarians, are friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. We’ve seen Dr. Cherrick mainly and she is wonderful. She is very personable and cheerful. She is a great listener and thoroughly addresses any concerns while explaining her recommendations in a way that is easy to understand. She also is very sweet in how she interacts with our anxious cat. The level of care we have received from everyone at this clinic is second to none and we are so grateful for everything they do!

They truly are the best vet out there. I sadly had to put my best friend down and they really helped comfort me through the process. They also sent a paw print with a heartfelt card to remember her by. Thank you Dr Cherrick for taking the time to write a personal message and helping me through the process. Everyone there is really compassionate and care for you and your pets.
