Grant is awesome! There are tons of comics and he knew exactly what boxes to look for when you ask him what you are looking for. Be prepared to stay for more than an hour and bring your money. It's worth the trip!

The best comic book store left in Chicago. Perfectly partially unorganized. Super nice owner. More back issues than almost anywhere.

I live out of town, but whenever I’m in Chicago visiting family I always make it a point to stop in. I love the chaos of the shop as it rewards people who are willing to dig in the boxes. The 1/2 off sales on back issues is amazing for the collecting community!

I went into the store when I was in Chicago. When I went into the store, I had to squeeze between the counter and a table that 4 guys were playing a card game (magic or something like that). They didn’t even make an attempt to make room for me to get by. I started looking through some of the boxes and there was absolutely no organization to the books at all. I found that the publishers were all mixed together, they were not in alphabetical or numerical order. I couldn’t find anything I was looking for. I then started to the front of the store to leave. I had to squeeze by the table again. I got about 6 ft from the door and then they asked if I needed help finding something. I told them I didn’t have time to search through the disorganization in the store. Then they told me the hours of operation as I was walking out. I will never go there again. It seems like the owner opened the store just to have a place for him and his friends to play their games. Apparently the employees/owner has never heard of customer service.

Owner was so cool to talk to and the collection on graded comics was insane to see.

Pretty loaded with back issues. Cool place though somewhat disorganized. The owner definitely will help you find something. I asked for prison related comics and he had a few recs like some Amazing Spiderman issues and some comic called The Prisoner.

This place has great prices on MTG products, mainly sealed products, sleves and boxes (I recommend gamegenic). go here before you buy anything online!

Very poor customer service. Did not even greet me when I entered the store and payed more attention to the childrens board game they were indulged in. Not only that they refused to buy my comics.

Has turned into a bit of a toy store tourist trap rather than a comic book shop (the weeklies are literally hidden in the back) but I don't really blame them for doing good business. When I lived in the city i went here weekly at least and always stop by when I'm in town. Always find a good gift for someone or a nice treat for myself.

This review is for the bar / dance club and not a dining experience here. After 10 pm on the weekends they push the tables aside and this turns into a crowded dance club with a dj and cover. Overall fun place. The dj is hit or miss and don't even think about using the bathroom or you'll be standing in line all night. Good strong drinks. Crowd is pretty interesting and a mix of locals with tech nerds. After midnight the line gets long!!! Get here early, grab some drinks, and have fun dancing the night away.

Maximum Distractions truly houses maximum distractions--so much so that I spent at least an hour digging through boxes to see what I could unearth. There were a good amount of back issues I was interested in, but so many weren't bagged and boarded and were definitely beginning to show some shelf wear. The bigger issues, though, is that nothing is clearly organized by series--or even publisher. There had clearly been some attempts to sort things out, but without any major success. It was frustrating to say the least. The owner was nice and happy to talk to you, and his interactions with other customers of varying sorts were very friendly as well. Sadly, there was a very offering radio station playing the whole time I was there detailing 9/11 conspiracies and whether or not Hunter Biden should be in jail. The owner said it was really just 'background noise,' but it sort of started to weird me out a bit. Regardless, i found a few books I wanted and decided to head out. At checkout, I paid with cash and wasn't charged any additional sales tax--which I always appreciate.
