My boyfriend and I love living here! The lofty vibes in the apartment/building are great. Because it's a loft you will hear some additional noise from your neighbors. It's not enough to bother us, but just to be aware of. The staff are all great and we are right on the river. It makes us feel like we're in a more residential area but still right in the middle of the city.

This place is so smooth! All the benefits of a loft apartment with the luxury of having a balcony and true communal experience. Most lofts like this are walk ups and hard to find gems.

I moved into The Lofts at River East in April of 2023, and my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. The primary issue was a malfunctioning air conditioner that took an agonizing seven months to fix. Despite over 17 maintenance reports and persistent reports of health concerns due to extreme heat in my unit reaching the 90-degree range, the management, led by Lindsey Brewer (who has since rebranded herself as "Lynzy") and Justin Perkins, displayed an alarming lack of urgency and professionalism. In September, after threatening legal action after going an entire summer without a functioning air conditioner, I was offered a temporary window AC unit, but it was too little, too late as the summer months had already come and gone. Lindsey strongly discouraged and coerced me out of taking legal action, insisting it would hinder a resolution. When attempting to contact Justin, her manager, for assistance in my pleas for help, my calls and voicemails went unanswered, and his office claimed he had no superior for me to contact.Lindsey assured me that she would "make the situation right" if provided the opportunity. However, when the AC issue was eventually resolved in November--seven months later--she asserted that it had been functioning perfectly all along, even claiming they had installed it in another resident's apartment after conducting a supposed "100% working condition" test. This so-called testing, which involved pulling in already cold outside air during November, is inherently flawed, as anyone employing simple logic can deduce that external cool air would naturally skew the results. Regrettably, another resident will endure the same unethical and inhumane living conditions next summer that I faced this past season. I strongly caution against taking the risk of residing here. This alternate narrative that Justin and Lindsey are claiming contradicted my firsthand experience as if my experience rooted in reality was a whimsical tale fabricated for amusement. Going so far as to tell me how I was an inconvenience to the business for reporting the AC issues and how much money it cost them to replace it. As if I'm the problem for reporting the obviously concerning maintenance issue and wanting a living environment consistent with the lease that I signed. Maintenance staff also confirmed that multiple other tenants endured the same AC problems throughout the entire summer. Of course, this shouldn't surprise anyone based on the lack of respect and integrity this team has, especially toward its residents. The gaslighting from "Lynzy" (Lindsey's new preferred alter ego) and Justin, who persistently denied the severity of the issue and its existence only after the issue is resolved, is deeply disconcerting and unprofessional. Their refusal to acknowledge the reality faced by myself, my dog who fell ill because of the persistent extreme indoor heat, and the numerous other residents raises serious concerns about their competence and integrity. The building's elevators are frequently out of order, the lack of communication and the gaslighting stance taken by the management team is utterly unacceptable. I discovered that this management team has faced retaliation cases through an attorney I've been consulting with, a major red flag to any prospective renters. I strongly advise against choosing The Lofts at River East as your new home. While the maintenance, concierge, and housekeeping staff are commendable, their efforts are overshadowed by incompetent leadership. Lindsey's dismissive attitude, inability to respond to written communication, and her gaslighting tactics are clear signs of an unprofessional and unqualified management team. This review is only scratching the surface of the complete and utter nightmare I've experienced while living here. Please, save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for housing. The seemingly nice appearance of the building is misleading, as it is managed by individuals who are not fit for their roles and lack any

Wow, this place is great! Their amenities are awesome and the location is amazing! Right on an annex to the Chicago river, there are restaurants, boats and just a “I’m on vacation” vibe. Brittany showed me a one bedroom with outdoor space overlooking the annex river, in unit washer/dryer and great finishes. She was very helpful in assisting me with good options for my budget and move in date as well as very helpful answering all my questions! Am psyched to be here!

Loved the brick walls and the size of my studio. Beautiful, historic building with excellent maintenance. Loved the red fire stairs, too ❤️

Just so you know this might happen to your apartment too and they will NEVER fix it. Good luck!

I wish I can give them -0- starts. Management is the worst in this building- they do not do their job. Whenever you ask them questions they answer with arrogance. Amenities are in a very poor condition, grills almost always out of order. But the biggest thing they will charge after moving out 2k for some minor scratches on the cheap floor. And you can read reviews we are not the only one who were scammed. So if you think to move to this building just do not do this, you will regret.

The building is nice, but the response to our maintenance issues has been abysmal. For the last few months our AC has repeatedly broken down. In the last 4 months we've had multiple freon leaks, and filters that have needed replacing. Each time it was fixed, it would break down again a few weeks later. We've been told to just deal with it for a few days for a specialist to come to fix it. But in the mean time our apartment is close to 80 degrees inside.

Surprised by the negative reviews for Lofts at River East! I’ve lived a few different places downtown and this has BY FAR been the best experience. My boyfriend and I are going on our third year here soon & we couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. The amenities are updated, the building is clean, dog park across the street, rooftop is beautiful, and there’s an awesome gym! The list goes on. The staff has always been SO friendly to us and we are so grateful! S/O to Karen at the front desk for always being a joy to be around. Thanks Lofts at River East team!!!!

I'm thrilled to share my experience living in this loft building! Having lived in several loft buildings between Chicago and Minneapolis, I can say with confidence that this building is a true gem. Not only is it conveniently located near beautiful beaches, the Navy Pier, and fantastic dining options, but the staff here is also outstanding! From the friendly front desk staff to the hardworking maintenance team, everyone is always eager to lend a hand. And let me tell you, the office staff is second to none! They are a group of wonderful people who go above and beyond to make sure residents are happy.I have to give a special shoutout to the property manager, Lynzy Baily, who is an absolute superstar. Recently, my fiancee and I decided to relocate to a different floor in the building to take advantage of the stunning water view, and Lynzy was beyond helpful in making the transition seamless. She is without a doubt the most exceptional property manager I've encountered in years. Her passion for her job and dedication to the residents in this building is truly inspiring. If you're considering a move to downtown Chicago, I highly recommend checking out The Lofts at River East. You won't regret it! ????

LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS — DO NOT LIVE HERE!During my two years at the Lofts, I’ve experienced all the issues echoed by other reviewers. Stay very clear of this building. Don’t let those high ceilings and exposed brick fool you like it fooled me! I wish I had taken the reviews more seriously before moving in.

I have been a loyal tenant to the Lofts at River East for 5 years now. While I love the building itself, I am saddened and very angry at how they run things around here -which is why I am leaving. Beautiful building and great maintenance staff/front desk staff. However, the most TERRIBLE management I have ever encountered in my life. Seems as if the longer you stay here the worse you are treated. It is a given that most loft buildings will come with some noise issues. I was not naive to this prior to moving into this building. I also feel like I have a very high tolerance to noise. There is a difference between noise of every day life and ignorant neighbors who are not properly managed by the building. I have sent probably 30-40 emails in a span of 6 months to management due to my upstairs neighbors making the most ridiculous noise (outside of quiet hours especially). I am a nurse who works long hours and am barely home except to sleep. I stopped writing emails to management after 7 months and just forced myself to deal with it because nothing has been done to solve the issues. Every single day for the last 12 months I have been woken up (even on weekends) around 6-7 am with hammering, drilling, sawing, loud footsteps back and forth, a humongous dog barking/howling/running/dropping its toys on the wood floors for hours on end, facetime calls on a loud speaker, blasted music/movies on surround sound, and god knows what else). Not only am I woken up very early, I can't even go to bed because the neighbors are still making noise past 12 am on week nights. Today, I was woken up again at 7 am and at 8 am my neighbors were using some sort of heavy mechanical machine upstairs that was so loud/screeching that I couldn't hear the front desk staff when I called downstairs to make, yet again, another noise complaint. I can't even explain what they are doing up there but it sounds like a wood workshop or something of the sort. I wish I could attach a video to this review to let others know what I am dealing with. I wish I could attach the plethora of videos I have from the past year. Responses from the security staff after a noise complaint are swift -which I am thankful for. However, the leasing office does a terrible job at handling things. They are rude and not helpful at all. If you are getting daily phone calls, daily emails w/ video evidence, and daily noise complaints for more than 2 weeks straight about a specific tenant, a notice should be sent to those other tenants and they should be forced out of the premises. The cherry on top: my lease is due to be re-signed and they raised my rent up over 11%. I've reached out explaining how I've been a loyal tenant and if that could somehow be lowered... Especially with all the BS i've had to deal with in the past year. But nope, no help whatsoever. No effort to try to get me to stay. In fact, I was told in an email that if I didn't re-sign by the due date and if I changed my mind after the fact, I would probably be subject to an even higher rent increase. Again, I really did not want to leave this building. But with how badly I've been treated by management, I have no choice but to finally leave. Very heartbreaking. I hope one day they can take all of these negative reviews seriously. And I hope they can revamp their leasing office staff because it has truly been a nightmare trying to get any sort of help.

The Lofts at River East is an inconsiderate, pretentious, overpriced establishment that does not care about the well-being of its tenants. Most egregiously, when moving out we were charged THOUSANDS of dollars for small scratches on the floor near the desk and kitchen areas. Initial receipt of the bill was accompanied by an immediate threat to turn over the balance for collection. Despite multiple attempts to call the Lofts to clarify the charges, we were never able to get in touch with an agent. Given that we hired a cleaning service and frequently cared for the unit, this treatment was incredibly unexpected and appalling.Additionally, while living at the lofts, we encountered incredibly aggressive/violent dogs that would snark and attempt to bite tenants. Many of the building tenants were incredibly rude and entitled as well, going as far as to push residents out of the way in the hallways. Finally, the building itself frequently failed to deliver the “luxury” services that it promised. Carpets were consistently stained by urine and other waste. Often, 2-3 elevators would be out of service. Multiple items of gym equipment were out of service during the majority of our 18 month stay. Despite polite requests to fix these items, management almost never responded. We were very optimistic after touring the Lofts and loved our unit; however, the way management extorts its residents, neglects necessary maintenance, and enables poor resident behavior is exceptionally disappointing.
