The convenience of this is great. But I am sick and tired of the bad service. If you go shortly before the close, they rush you. On rare occasions they have closed a few minutes EARLY.Today was the most disturbing experience. I bought a box of plastic forks. When I took it to my unit, they all fell out of the box, because the box popped open when it should not have. I went back to the store, asking to exchange it. First they said yes, then went back and forth between making me pay again and not about 3 times, despite me emphasizing I shop there many times per week and this has NEVER happened before. Finally, when I said if they wouldn't exchange it for that reason I would take my business elsewhere, they said to take the exchange and not pay. This is unacceptable service. Also, not sure why it says San Francisco on here, but I live in Chicago and shop at the commissary every week.

Well stocked but expensive which you can expect because it is incredibly convenient. Overall 10/10 experience everytime.

This is a great store!! Family-owned, they have a great selection of quick items. They stayed open during the Pandemic the whole time, so I didn't have to put myself at risk. If I ever had a problem, one quick call, and they would do anything they could to fix it.

Do NOT live here. Not only is the management team horrible but so are the people that live here. It is not kid friendly, do not live here if you have children. The residents that live here do not like children, are against them and just are not nice about you having a child, which is very odd. I have never felt so uncomfortable living somewhere in Chicago. It does not feel like home. Not worth the price. Besides the great location there is absolutely no reason living here. Absolutely horrible. I would give 0 stars if I could.

As some of the other positive reviews are mentioning, I'm really surprised that some people are saying rats and roaches. I lived here for years (from 2012 to 2015), and I never had a single bug in our apartment, certainly no rats. I loved my time here! The building is gorgeous and is in such an amazing location. My view of the lake was so amazing, we have a picture of it framed on the wall of my current apartment and people think it's art. I rented my unit from a family member, and it was one of the best apartments I've had in my life. The building is well-maintained, especially considering its age, and the amenities are great. Unfortunately, the sun roof was under construction when I lived there, but my family member says it looks amazing now. The fitness room, while a little small, is well-maintained, as are the laundry rooms. The convenience store downstairs has very nice staff members, and it is so helpful to have in the building, especially on winter days when I'm not trying to take the bus to Jewel. The front desk staff are always professional and helpful, as are the maintenance staff. The management was a pain, honestly. It was like pulling teeth to get anything accomplished through them, but once I moved in, I rarely dealt with them. However, the safety, the location, and the building itself make-up for the shortcomings of the management ten-fold. Also, for people complaining about the tow-zone in the back area: it's a fire lane between two high rises! What do you expect them to do? There's signs everywhere! Don't park there and you won't be towed!

I am a Realtor who has had transactions in the building and my review is about the Management Office and employees. I am not a resident. I have been a Realtor in the neighborhood since 1995, and I have done a lot of condominium sales. The Management Office and staff at 3950 are extremely efficient and helpful. They know their building, they have been very responsible about charging everyone enough money so that they can cover their short and long term expenses without constantly having special assessments, and they are happy to serve their residents. For these reasons, the building has seen a nice spike in value and this trend will continue. Great job, 3950 LSD.

I'm really surprised by the reviews that mention rats and roaches. I've been here over three years and never seen anything other than a ladybug in my place. Sure, we are clean but so is the building. They have mandatory preventive sprays at least once a year and a dog that comes around annually to be sure no one has bed bugs. I will agree with the statements on high fees though I now understand this is pretty standard for high rises. It is irritating to have to pay to book the elevator when you move in and out. The hallways are a bit dated and the management isn't always sunny but overall I've been really happy with my experience. It's a great location, the front desk and garage staff are generally very sweet and helpful and the rooftop deck has great views.

I owned a condo in this rat-besieged building for three years. The move in and move out fees are excessive. They fined my tenant $500 for moving out a few boxes and turned down the appeal. They have notorious Lincoln Towing patrolling the rear at $215 per tow. But the rats are everywhere. Beware.
