I can certainly be more specific—Mr. Gippert has a way of being curt and impatient, which can make a person feel very on edge. He will then snap at you for acting nervous and on edge. I found him to be rude and short tempered, and not at all easy to work with.I would have taken a very low price for my rare books and I kind of just wanted them sold. Mr. Gippert had already been short with me so when he asked me what I wanted for them, I was afraid if I said a price he didn’t like, he would become angry. I already had a relative idea of what they are worth as this is 2024, and we have the internet, and I have been collecting since 2013. I just didn’t know what % of the retail price he normally gives his sources, as I understand any seller must make a profit. I didn’t need any “free work” from him, Mr. Gippert had just made me quite nervous to say the wrong thing. Mr. Gippert expressed definite interest in a few of the works in my collection (some rare golden era of illustration pieces), and told me he had to see them in person to make an offer. When I offered to drive them across town for that purpose he proved my fears very founded and rudely told me I was wasting his time, and that it would cost me $200 for the pleasure of selling my books to him!He further proves my point with his angry response on here, full of false assumptions and accusations--a very Karen-ish response, in my humble opinion. Hopefully this helps to clarify what happened.

I am huge fan of books and Kurt Gippert Bookseller mostly has what I am looking for. They have an extensive collection of books and that just impress me. It is indeed a book lover paradise.

Just met with Kurt last week and it was a great experience. He has quite the collection, was fair in his estimates and the new building will be fabulous when it is finished.

Although I’m not a customer, Kurt treated me with respect. I needed knowledge about a book and reached out to him via email. He responded back immediately and in the evening. I was very impressed. Worried at a major chain I’d be ignored I’m or at an appraiser I’d be taken advantage of for my lack of knowledge. I read google reviews. Considering most people only leave reviews when they are unhappy. I felt good vibes about trusting this guy with my question. He was quick to reply, he was thorough, very polite and extremely knowledgeable. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone. Honestly is something money can’t buy these days. This guy is giving it away for free. I’d buy a Book just for that. Plus the store is beautiful. It needs to be added to the list of must see places when you visit Indiana.

I found Kurt in a search for a very rare book for my dad for Christmas. I had exhausted the resources near me and started calling shops in larger cities in hopes someone would have it. Kurt was friendly and took time to find this book on his back shelves (it was unlisted so didn't even come up in an online search). He researched the book, gave me a more than fair price, and shipped it same day. The books are in beautiful condition and were packaged carefully. I cannot wait to surprise my dad with this beautiful set. I would highly recommend Kurt to anyone searching for a rare book or wanting a recommendation on an interesting read. Thanks again for making this step of the search so easy!

After the passing of my wife’s grandfather, our family was in need of selling a large collection of books. Having mediocre knowledge of most of the books we were in need of some help. My wife found Kurt through a Google search. As it turned out, a family friend knew of Kurt and highly recommended him.

I stumbled upon Kurt's website trying to find a signed copy of Meredith Willson's He Doesn't Know the Territory. Kurt was selling a first edition, so I contacted him and he promptly scheduled a convenient time for me to come in-- he's available by appointment or invite only. While at his store Kurt was extremely friendly and helpful. He showed me what I came in for and then let me take a look around. Kurt has some truly amazing things in his shop-- I came in for just one book and left with five. I will definitely be back soon.

This book store is small but really interesting with a great assortment of old books and antiques for sale. The old posters and post cards are wonderful too. If you are in the area it is to be experienced. The owner isn't friendly but he doesn't bite.
