Had the most upsetting experience here today and I’m really not one to leave reviews but here we are.
My cashier was lovely when checking out but the “bagging” lady, some chubby maybe Hispanic lady refused to put my items in my cart so I had to unload the shopping cart while putting the groceries in my personal cart. She just stood there. When it got time to pay, I placed the cash on the table, as mind you, I’m doing 3 things at once while she looks on, and she just yells to not place the money there… okay.
As I’m paying, she yells for me to grab the grocery cart from behind me. I ignore her as I’m attempting to continue checking out and she did it not once but TWICE. I responded back that I was moving it.
I’m not sure why a store would pay to have a worker not only not do her job, but yell at customers, but this lady needs to be gone like today. It was such a rattling experience I literally cried when I left the store.

This is a really gross spot to get produce. I find moldy or mildewy produce here all the time, you can find a lot of expired food on the shelves as well

I do like this store, but the pricing can be absurd if you don’t hit the sales right. OVERNIGHT the cost of their “La Brea” bakery items (including the ciabatta rolls that I love) went up OVER a dollar—from $4.29 to $5.49. Buying soda, frozen foods, cereal, and chips from here will bankrupt you as well. Be a smart consumer and do your research. I opt to shop in the suburbs/cheaper alternatives because that’s the only way we hold big corporations like this accountable and get them to budge on their absurd prices.

We’re die-hard Jewel fans and use our app religiously. Unfortunately, the recent change to make self-check out limited to small purchases has led to serious problems. The cashiers seem inexperienced and we have to routinely check over our receipts to make sure the correct (and on sale) items are rung up. While mistakes like $5 here or there might not seem like much, it adds up over the year. Absolutely unacceptable that I have to chat with customer service after I return from shopping because deals weren’t honored, simply because the cashiers don’t know what produce items to scan. If this continues, we will stop doing our main shopping here - self-check is necessary when workers are inadequately trained.

Some female employees are unprofessional and unflexible just like some customers complained in reviews.
I recently had a bad experience with a Spanish lady who works in the self-checkout area. She always makes me feel uncomfortable but this one was even worse.
1. When an item's price on the screen differs from the one I saw on the price on the shelf, they always ask their team's help to check it. However, she refused to find someone's help because no one could support her. She even said I had to take a picture of the price on the shelf to show her the proof.
I asked her if customers were supposed to take pictures of all prices for proof on each shopping.
She said she needed proof of it with her unfriendly voice, and the place turned into a court.
Her statement upset me, and since I did not want to take a proof picture for her, giving it up, I purchased only other items with no price difference.
2. When finished paying I saw a young employee coming to assist there. I could have asked him for assistance on the price check without arguing with the mean Spanish lady.
Since he usually moves carts or baskets for customers, I about left my empty cart there. Then she suddenly screamed and yelled at me, ordering me to move the cart myself with a mean voice.
The young man came by me and moved the cart for me but her rudeness and unflexibility had caused a bad environment.
3. She was supposed to be too busy to assist me but she chased me when I about left the area and interrogated me with her loud voice and a suspicious look in public if I paid for the plastic bags or if I am a link card user. She treated me as if I were a thief. Now the place turned to the police station.
Enough is enough! She is too arrogant to be a customer service professional. She wants to authorize people just like a government officer.
Please know that she is not the only one. Some other employees also need to be trained on how to behave politely, be proactive, and be flexible. Most of them are friendly and nice but it is not great to lose customers because of only a few employees' poor attitudes.

Overall the store is not the problem, but the customer service counter is a joke. Twice in the last few weeks it is an area that is unattended because the person is covering that spot and “helping” with self check out customers. Today we bought a large amount of groceries and wanted to buy two Amazon gift cards. Told those had to be paid for at the customer service counter. No one stationed there, walked over to a Jewel employee in the self check out area and got no help. She was leaning on a grocery cart and appeared to be watching videos on her phone. Had no interest in helping, we left the two gift cards lying on the customer service desk. Took this portion of our business elsewhere.

ALWAYS CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATES HERE. not only did I just bite into a quest bar which says it was best by 03/23 (purchased two days ago?) Also bought milk there and it was sour. This place is holding onto food and drinks that are no longer good. Zero stars if possible + BIG WARNING. GO TO THE JEWELS DOWN THE STREET.

You guys should stop doing the app discount thing when is so difficult to use it in the cashier . Every time I go for a deal of the coupon apps thing , the cashiers have to ask a manager and it’s the biggest deal . It shouldn’t be . Do better

Discounts on price tags rarely show up at register, check out attendants (usually) make it seem like it's a pain for them to check you out, overall it's the worst part of my day when I walk into this Jewel.

Can your self checkout lady take a chill pill? I’m being interrogated over whether or not I paid for a plastic bag and whether I’m scanning the organic green onions. I’d like to grocery shop without being accused of “stealing” by employees. Makes me not want t shop here at all.
