State Street Jewel Store gets the lowest customer service rating. Twice now I have been blocked from obtaining products by a Jewel employee that does not speak English. When asked to move, so I could pick up a product, they refuse and say “No English”. I reported this to management. Nothing has been done. It happened again today. Blocking grocery area. Stating No English. Now I will change my choice of a grocery store.

You may as well take yourselves off of Uber eats. As a Uber shopper I’m not waiting behind people with 40 items each because we can no longer use self checkout. What makes it more annoying is if most of these people ordering didn’t need the taxes taken off, this wouldn’t be an issue. These orders are already a high risk wasting tons of time for the pay. Gonna have to avoid jewel for work until they figure that out. Unless the order is paying enough. Otherwise you’re demanding I waste more timeGood job on the floors tho

My latest visit resulted in my being targeted for a disability and having my rights violated by security.I came in, bought a pack of dog food, paid at self check out, spoke to the a cashier as checking out and she put a paid sticker on the dog food as I was leaving. I put it in a box I was carrying and walked straight to the door. Once outside the door plainclothes security tried to stop me, identifying himself as security only after I initially responded I was on the phone and he moved aggressively towards me. He told me I had to open the box. I told him I knew my rights and he couldn’t force me to open the box because he didn’t have reasonable suspicion to stop me under shopkeeper’s privilege. He acted joke he had never heard of shopkeeper’s privilege and started insisting he had the right to detain and search me. I understand that stores have legal right to refuse further service if I refuse to present a receipt, however they require reasonable suspicion of shoplifting to insist I show proof of purchase if I refuse. As the security guard deviated from his legal rights, but still insisted “I [he] know my rights” and had the right to stop me. Feeling unsafe , as he was now operating outside his legal mandate, I walked inside to the service desk to file a complaint. Within a couple moments I was standing next to the service desk, with 4 staff members flanking me aggressively in a semi-circle cornering me against the service desk. By this time security had already acknowledged the reason they stopped me was because I appeared nervous. In response I had informed them that I had an anxiety disorder and am suffering from post concussive symptoms. Instead of de-escalating they had an unnecessary number of staff physically surround me. The man who identified himself as the security manager at one point said “look I know you have mental issues” and that I was “doing too much” by asking to file a complaint, and was hostile, aggressive, and disrespectful from the beginning of the interactions. Upon requesting contact information for corporate to file a complaint I was at first refused, being told them number would be on my receipt. As I had a paid sticker on my item I had not collected my receipt and asked for the number. The person behind the counter wrote down the corporate complaint number, but when I called that number it was actually the store number, so they’re also trying to hide their actions from corporate accountability, demonstrating they knew they had acted inappropriately.I have filed a complaint with corporate requesting they reach out and explain to me what action will be taken to prevent further profiling of people with medical conditions protected by the ADA by store employees. I will update my review and amend my rating when/if resolution is reached. I will also be contacting the department of human relations to file a complaint about discrimination against a medical condition protected under the ADAEdit: 4 days later still have yet to be contacted by the store manager or anyone above them. Have called corporate twice now asking for someone to reach out for resolution.Third update: it’s now been a week since the incident. Have called corporate 3 times now, last time (yesterday) was told the district manager John Large would be reaching out, after I informed them that if I didn’t hear back by end of day I would be reporting the incident to DHR today. Just wanted to make it public record that after a week and three attempts at calling the corporate office for resolution this store and district have made it abundantly clear that they don’t take discrimination against protected disabilities, or the rights of their customers in general, at all seriously.

This is a perfect city grocery store! They have a wide selection, good prices, excellent specials, and very helpful staff. I enjoy the walk from the southwest side of the Loop.

Grass fed beef $2.99/lbs? Amazing! You have to use your Just 4U phone number. Don't forget to check the app for even more savings! And keep your eyes peeled for other sales. It goes without saying that you have to check your receipt!

Most unhygienic store I've visited. Rotten food, I'm pretty sure they never check if things have gone bad. Extremely disappointed.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with the positive reviews. Most every employee at this store has always been very helpful and courteous to me. I would like to mention Anna, Charmane, Michael, Mary, Yang and others whose names I cannot immediately recall. I've been shopping here for over 10 years and have no major complaints. I think the managers are all excellent -- Caroline in Customer Service, Mary in Deli, Will in Frozen and Dairy, Chester in Produce,, Rhonda in meats, and of course PJ, the Store Manager, who I frequently see on the floor, -- a very "hands on" manager. I'm glad I have this store so convenient to me.
