I have taken my dog to Higgins for a few years, my gf from Roscoe Village had referred me to Higgins Vet.
Everyone there was so attentive and nice, the receptionists were always so cordial and always called me back promptly.
During Covid the operations changed and it was absolutely fine, we parked in the back at their designated lot and called in and someone came to see and pick up our dog to take it to a consultation while we waited.
Thank you for being the best vets in town!

I stopped in yesterday to because my cat passed away and was seeking cremation services. I called ahead and they said yes you can come in but any veterinary office should be able to help you. Ok I said I am not a patient but was at some point with this pet and they had helped me through her illnesses. I had long moved out of the neighborhood.
I came in with my pet in a carried and was kindly greeted. However the woman at the front desk reception seemed really confused and kept saying she was new. I tried to explain the situation while she: attempted to check me in for an appointment, check the bags of already cremated pets, explain euthanasia and how the doctor would need to check to make sure they weren't alive before cremation. I explained that the cat was already deceased and in the pet carrier that I had in my hand. By that time the vet tech and all the doctors had gone to lunch so I would need to wait until they returned at 3:30 PM. Now I was confused, who was it that I talked to who said they could help me if I just came in? She said she didn't know because had I talked to her she wouldn't have told me to come in at 2 PM when no one was there.
I was tired, cold and clearly had been crying all day but I had my kid with me so I considered waiting. So, I asked how much the services would be, she said $300 - $500, when I told her that seemed too high she laughed and said that's how much it is she has seen the bills. She didn't even use the computer to look up the cost, just smiled smugly and went back to her phone.
This was a truly terrible experience, I hope actual clients experience better service because she was rude and came off as if my pet didn't matter.

We would take our beloved lil dog (boy) to Higgins animal clinic for almost a decade. His annual check-up is every year on the first week of December, so he did, 12-2-2023. We've noticed that around the fall of 2023 he had developed some kind of pain in his back legs, so we took him for a check-up at the Higgins clinic and the doctor said that he has arthritis and recommended the Librela injected medicine once a month. I made an appointment for January 11th of 2024 for his arthritis shot and I took him to the clinic. I went with him in the room and I saw the doctor, Jonathan Bresolin was examining him before he gave him the arthritis shot and I thought that his was part of the procedure, but when I went to pay the bill at the front desk, I saw that there was a charge of $71 for examination. I asked the front desk person named Lexi, why am I being charged for an examination since the appointment was only for an arthritis shot? So instead of her telling me, let me call someone to come out and explain to you why the charge of $71 shows on the bill, she replied "look at the bill", very rude and unprofessional. I paid the bill and the next day I called the clinic and asked to see the manager of the facility named Ariel. I showed up at the clinic and I said that I have an appointment with the manager at 12 noon. I saw Ariel standing little further away from counter and she saw me too. Instead of her coming out to discuss the matter, she was checking her "nails" while she was looking at me.... Eventually after a couple of minutes she came out and I told her that I was overcharged for the yesterdays' appointment. I explained to her that the appointment was for an arthritis shot, NOT for another examination. She started saying that "the doctor thought that he had to examine the dog again and other nonsense". I told her again, THE APPOINTMENT WAS ONLY FOR THE LIBRELA SHOT AND NO EXAMINATION NEEDED AND THAT NOBODY MENTIONED THAT THERE WILL BE ANOTHER EXAMINATION AND I DIDN'T GIVE MY CONSENT FOR THEM TO CHARGE MY CC. At that point she started talking again, trying to tell me that this was necessary and when I tried to explain that the dog had his annual check up last December 2nd of 2023, she said "don't interrupt me while talking" and so I did. But when it was my turn to talk to her, telling her that I shouldn't be charged for an examination, SHE KEPT INTERRUPTING ME THE WHOLE TIME AND SOUNDED LIKE A DAMN BROKEN RECORD. The woman is rude, unprofessional, uneducated and she DOESN'T HAVE THE SLIGHTEST CLUE ABOUT MANAGEMENT AND WHAT MANAGEMENT MEANS. Next day I called the owner of the facility, Humphrey Robert and I explained to him what happened and how I was overcharged, but he also insisted that the examination was part of the appointment. I couldn't reason with neither the owner nor with the manager. I changed doctors/veterinarians and I'm happy and so is the lil guy. Later on, on the Hamlin park where I take the lil guy for walks, I found out that many doctors of this facility quit and changing doctors/veterinarians like someone changes underwear and also that their groomer of many years of services in the facility quit because of the way they were treated from the owner to the manager of this facility. I guess, they are not making enough money, so they decided to overcharge their customers to make up the losses. I WOULD NEVER EVER AGAIN STEP FOOT IN THIS FACILITY IF THEY OFFER ME A DAMN FREE SERVICE FOR LIFE.
P.S. THE NEW DOCTOR/VETERINARIAN SAID THAT BEFORE OUR DOG STARTED THE LIBRELA ARTHRITIS SHOT HE SHOULD HAVE DONE AN X-RAY AND BLOOD WORK, WHICH THE HIGGINS ANIMAL CLINIC NEVER DID. COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE OF THEIR PART.
THEY DON'T DESERVE NOT EVEN A DAMN STAR.....
FYI. FROM THE TIME THAT THE NEW MANAGER TOOK OVER, THINGS STARTED GOING DOWN IN THIS FACILITY....

Higgins AC has been taking care of our Chihuahua for over 6 years since we adopted. The latest was a painful shoulder issue that they made time for him immediately. The doctors are always caring and detailed. Their explanations are easy to understand, and they follow up. Definitely recommended.

We have been going to Higgins for our dog since we got him a year and a half ago. They have helped our dog through persevering parasites, ear infections, and of course general check-up’s and vaccines. They always answer the phone and kindly take our questions, getting us scheduled for appointments or even answering our questions immediately. We will be going back for a while!

This was our vet for the 3 years we lived in Chicago. We never had any issues, except that they had trouble clipping the nails of my very anxious pitbull, so I ended up using PetSmart for that. But overall, the attitude of the staff towards my dog made him much less anxious about going to the vet, and sometimes he was even excited to go in because he knew the folks at the front desk would make a fuss over him!
I want to make a special shoutout to Ariel, whose enthusiasm for my dog and reinforcement of his happiness with plentiful treats from our very first visit is the main reason my dog was happy to go there. I hope Ariel gets a big raise!

Higgins has been taking care of my dog since I moved to Chicago about 10 years ago. One thing that is consistent about Higgins is the care is consistent. I know what to expect at his yearly check ins, things to be cognizant of as my guy gets a bit older. One of the things I appreciate most though is if I have an urgent question or concern, the staff will happily talk to me over the phone and advise if I should bring my dog in or treat with home remedy. My only "negative" is the cost of care tends to be a bit steep but at the same time, I know my dog is being well taken care of. I'd recommend the Higgins animal clinic team.

Decepcionada.

Absolutely wonderful Animal Clinic and Dr. Damiana is the epitome of how a vet should treat their patients and pet owners.

We took our 5 yr old morkie to Higgins for grooming and had Dr Roberts give him a check up first. He was so kind and gentle, a real professional. Our little dog is extremely difficult and we had asked groomers around Rogers Park where we could take him to get sedated and groomed. Several people recommended Higgins and their master groomer Felipe. Their staff was great, they kept us posted on how our dog was doing and it was such a fantastic experience.

Terrible service. They denied my dog the vaccine being her primary doctor without proving a cause or police fact.
