Beware!!!
Mr. Horowitz has not been honest with me. He sold my mother’s watch to a dealer in California some time ago and refuses to pay me the amount on our contract or respond to my requests.
I have even been in his office face to face with him and his wife and was told he would get this done and he has not.
I truly regret having any dealings with this man.

The most wonderful jeweler. From ring resizing to design to jewelry repair Craig has helped us through it all. He is knowledgeable in the way you can only be when you've been in the business for your entire life. A hidden gem!!

I can only say incredibly nice things about my experience with H. Horwitz. I worked specifically with Craig. I came in with an odd request, and they helped me. They took a unique, but cheap, old ring I had purchased about 15 years ago off of eBay and completely remade it into something I now use as my wedding ring. It was very reasonably priced, and the customer service was absolutely incredible. Sincerely, if you are looking to have a ring made or just looking for ideas, take the time to go talk with this company. If you need help in this area, or just need a place to start with ideas, go here and talk with them.

I just love this place! I cannot say enough good things about it. Not only do they have lots of cool and unique pieces, the staff is very honest, knowledgeable and friendly and goes above and beyond to make you feel special. I have found some of my favorite pieces of jewelry here, I get complemented on them daily. I always trust that when something comes into the store that I may like, Craig and team will give me a call. I was so happy to find this place was still there. All that went down the tubes when I picked up my watch for a simple battery change. They scratched it beyond repair trying to get it open. It's vintage Chanel, worth a lot (thousands, in dollars, but more to me in sentimental value), but not precious metals--so the damage they did, and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge, or apologize for--isn't fixable. I can't recommend.

The clasp on my favorite necklace broke and I was dreading getting it fixed because I didn't know how to find someone to help. So I turned to YELP (as I often do) and found Craig. He responded immediately to my inquiry and asked for photos to assess the damage. I visited his shop downtown and he took my necklace into the back. Within 5 minutes I had a new clasp FREE of charge. I couldn't believe it (and couldn't thank him enough). I put my necklace back on that day and haven't had to take it off since. I will forever be indebted to Craig and his expertise. If and when I have another damaged piece, I will be sure to return to his establishment. Great service, even better person.

My experience was with selling estate items. Do not believe the malarkey that you are getting “top dollar because he has direct customers”. You will get next to nothing for even the best pieces. Sell on consignment elsewhere.

I had a such a lovely experience finding this jewelry store in Chicago. This is a historic shop, and I believe is one of the first jewelry stores in Chicago! The owner, Craig, was such a pleasure to talk to. His grand started this store in the 1899. He is one of the rare jewelers that spends time talking to you about your needs and helps you find a piece that fits your budget and interests. He has so many unique pieces, and even more in the back.For someone who was visiting and had a very low budget (for real jewelry), he was able to provide me with so many options. He also gave me so much knowledge. I love looking at jewelry, and there is so much vintage designer jewelry as well. The prices here are pretty good!

Amazing experience. Craig is a talented and engaging person. I walked in for the first time without an appointment and he was attentive and welcoming. A true class act. He will take the time to educate you on the various aspects about purchasing a diamond without feeling like you're dealing with a salesman. There's a reason this business has been operating for more than 100 years.

After I unfortunately grabbed the wrong ring (in secret) to get my fiancé's size- we found out quickly that we needed a resize when I proposed. I used the yelp compare feature and got 4 different companies. Craig at H. Horowitz was not only the only one to respond, he did so within a few hours. We went over the next day. Craig was welcoming- I could instantly tell he knew what he was doing. He was able to identify the type of metal and confirm the diamond with a microscope. He gave a very competitive price for the resize and was able to get it back to us within 48 hours. Ring fits my fiancé perfectly (yay!). Some how the ring looks more shiny? Anyway we are both pleased and recommend H. Horowitz.
