I wish I could buy the whole place up! I'm excited to go back when it gets warmer. It's a great place to try some new things. Some booths had samples that were yum. A cheese booth was great about talking about the different types of goat cheese they had. A great place to bring your dog and socialize them. A favorite of mine was river hidden ranches garlic cheese spread.

They foster this "green" image, but then proceed to allow the selling an unsustainably harvested species with roots and all ripped from the ground... AKA ramps. Don't believe me? They're seeing major population declines across the US and Canada. They take 10 years to reach maturity and start producing seeds, and the seeds do not have a high germination rate. Colonies take a long time to recover from indiscriminate picking which is exactly what restaurants and the sellers at this and many other farmers markets are doing to feed the craze. The solution? Sell the leaves only and then leave the rest of the plant to grow. Wish they could do better but greed always wins out apparently. Otherwise, selection is decent though be sure to get there earlier since a lot of the vendors pack up before the stated time

The old lady working there was an absolutely the most rude person I've ever talked to. We asked nicely for a discount, just wondering if she could give us one, and she said we work very hard for all the things we have here, we don't give handouts, go and get a job you bums. I'm never going back to that booth ever again. Please Don't support her or her business, she doesn't belong there!

Love coming here on Saturdays! There are so many choices of produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, plants, and locally jarred honey, jams, and sauces. Plus quite a few food stands selling prepared food to eat while you enjoy the market.

Green City Market is as good as advertised. I've been going for the past 7 years and its fantastic to see how much it's grown. Simple things to know The fruit and vegetable selection will change throughout the summer. It's better to go early so that you have the best selection. And order your pizza first before the line gets long. The market features amazing vendors that dish up other tasty favorites - grilled cheese, bakeries, veggies, flowers, meats, cheeses, dairy, basically anything that you'd prefer fresh and locally grown. Fun date idea to meet here, buy all your supplies for a meal, and then go home and cook all that goodness up!

We love the Green City Market! This is a great place to spend your Saturday morning on a nice day and pick out fresh produce, fresh herbs, and grab lunch! I always come here to pick up local honey (from Chicago Honey co-op) and hot sauce (from Bushel & Peck's). Also the famous Raclette cheese sandwich is worth the trip every time. AND its pet friendly. I am sad to see the outdoor market come to an end this month but I am very much looking forward to the indoor market experience.

Very, very nice farmer's market. Tons of fresh produce, and handmade food products like honey and syrup. There are a few good vendors as well offering up some delicious pastries, pies, tamales, wood fired pizza etc. definitely worth a visit. If you're in the area it would be a great way to get something fresh for those Sunday dinners.
