Chicago to Las Vegas. I will give them credit they were able to accommodate my move with only a weeks notice because the moving company I scheduled couldn't make the pick up dates. The guys came in and packed everything up good. This is where my story turns. It has been almost 3 weeks now. My final date for delivery is this upcoming Monday. It is currently friday and I have not received notification that my stuff has even started shipping. I have also reached out to the company multiple times only to be told they are working on it. I have asked twice so far about what the company is going to do if my delivery is late which is looking like the case only to have that question ignored so far. I have finally called and they tell me they are still working on it and that the contract is about 3 weeks from pick up. That is correct, the contract is a total of 3 weeks, but that is to deliver my stuff, not to maybe get it on a truck by then and deliver after. Then i was told by customer service that she was ending the call. I was not rude, i did not curse or swear at her nor did i call her any names. I was told a supervisor would call me because there is not one there right now. I am extremely disappointed and hope that you all avoid this company in the future.UPDATE: My stuff finally arrived over 2 weeks late and half of my stuff is not here. HALF, it is not a joke, i have the inventory list right next to me and it's bad. Please no one use this company and its CRIMINAL owners and employees.UPDATE 2: This company was involuntarily dissolved by state of Illinois in august 2017. Scam artists.

This place is a complete SCAM. They have multiple names and as I found out have a terrible BBB rating as well. I knew them as Great Lakes Van Lines but they have changed their name several times as a result of their lack of integrity I’m sure. I won’t go over the nauseating details but they basically didn’t show up on the day of my move TWICE. They becuame absolutely impossible to get a hold of. They would not return phone calls, emails, or texts. I have never been treated like this by a company in my life. They cost me an extra $4500 in last minute emergency moving services. They are not a real moving company that will actually move your stuff. Check their address. It’s a UPS store address in a chicago. AVOID

NEVER EVER USE THESE GUYS! They contract out all of their stuff so you end up having 3-4 different companies handling your things. My entire home was in storage for 2 weeks and showed up broken, torn, and handled with zero care. Once they picked up my things they never answered the phone, didn't respond to email, didn't reply phone calls. It was honestly the worst moving experience I've had and I've never been more disappointed in a business or customer service. They are operating like the internet doesn't exist - won't track your items, won't let you know where they are, won't give you a day for pick up/delivery until the night before, and do it all extremely rudely. The extra fees added up to over $2,000 and they basically hold you and your items hostage. Don't be fooled by the good reviews - those people are reviewing the companies that got contracted out by Great Lakes - go directly to the little guy and NOT this terrible awful company run by a bunch of careless idiots.

UPDATE: The movers have now had my items for 38 days and are expected to deliver in the next 2-3 days, they are now charging me an extra $250 for delivery that was never told to me before. Please people, NEVER book with this company, SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE!I would highly caution anyone from booking with Great Lakes Van Lines, they have had my items for 18 days now and it still hasn't left my home state to make the long distance move. Don't be fooled by how responsive they are when you book, my agent Tyler was super helpful while booking but once you book with them they will only allow you to leave a voicemail for their dispatch department to get an update. In the last 18 days, I have left 21 messages for their dispatch department and have yet to receive a phone call back. I was also promised by one of the mangers, Franco, that he would personally update me. I have now left 10+ messages for him with the reception and he has yet to call me back for 15 days. Also be aware that often their phone number goes straight to voicemail, I have called over 100 times to get through a handful of times and I have only been allowed to leave a message for someone to call me back with reception. I would HIGHLY caution anyone from booking with them unless you don't want your items for over a month. They don't tell you while booking but they can legally hold your stuff for up to 21 BUSINESS days, so you may be waiting over a month for your items to arrive from your first day of deliver. I highly regret booking with this company and now wish I had choose to drive a Uhaul or hired a different company. Ill keep updating my reviews but please don't be fooled by the sales department like I was!

The communication within this company is TRASH.The company gave me a 2 day window of when the movers would arrive and let me know the driver would call me a day before to narrow down the delivery window time. Day one came and went and I did not hear from the driver. On my second I call to get a time and was told their sister company was now handling my move, and that they got behind and would not be moving my things that day? I emailed Daniella Gold, who helped me book the reservation, and she got things sorted, my movers came later that day.My movers were kind and courteous and even helped me wrap some of my furniture. They give themselves a 15 grace period to deliver your things. I was hoping to have my things by the 30th, but they had until the 23rd of the next month to deliver.I emailed them on the 16th to see if anything had been set. They told me they had until the 29th to deliver. I corrected them- and was told I'd be contacted when my things were on a truck. They did not deliver by the 23rd. Once again I had to email Daniella. I got a response saying the van had been loaded and I would get a call the day before from the driver. This was a Monday, they estimated that my things would be there by Thursday. Tuesday morning I get a call from the driver saying he is AN HOUR AWAY! ???? What happened to calling me a day ahead of time???When I emailed the company to address the communication problems I received condescending responses blaming me for not knowing the details of my contract. When I asked for a phone number to speak to someone directly I was ignored. The movers had to call for me. The representative said she was on her lunch break and couldn't help me.PURE TRASH. RUDE. UNWILLING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY WHEN THEY MESS THINGS UP.The only pleasant people were Daniella Gold, and my actual movers.

I would give negative 5 stars if I could. This place is a total scam. Moved from California to Chicago, was quoted one amount and in the end it ended up costing me 1800 more than the "binding quote" said. The company they contracted with in California never called with a time and then came *after* I was meant to be out of my unit, then they charged me twice for a "long carry" (the distance was just over 75 feet, first 75 feet were "free", with 150 for the next 75 feet and they charged me 300 for some reason), and then the raked me over the coals for a "shuttle" (that the guy who booked the move said I wouldn't need) to the tune of $900!! I then had to have shuttle on the other end, which the guys only charged me 400 for (and I wasn't the only person with stuff on *either* truck--complete scam, everyone pays for the truck apparently so they're making money there...). I would have moved myself because it would have been cheaper, but not only that, when my stuff got here, coffee table broken into pieces, boxes looked like they had been tossed around by a gorilla, so many broken things. NEVER EVER AGAIN will I use this company.

The movers are fantastic. I liked these guys for their flexible scheduling and friendly service. My move with Great Lakes Van Lines went smooth and cost remained the same. There were no hidden fees. And nothing was broken or damaged. I was very pleased with their service.

This company is awful. They charged me over $1,000 more than quoted, lost some of my things, and many of the boxes showed up completely destroyed with my belongings broken inside. Do not use this company - they charge an asinine amount of money to lose and break your things.

They are counting a 3 week late delivery, containing only a third of the items a complete order. The only response they have given has been be patient. I don’t know how anyone is expected to accept a late delivery and missing a ton of stuff, and just be patient. Very dirty practice and customer service is terrible!!!!

This company is a scam. They use a terrible 3rd party company for the moves. And offer zero assistance once you pay the initial down payment. Terrible experience.

Negative stars if I could. I was moving from Chicago to Austin, and wanted a guaranteed delivery date. Great Lakes Van Lines seemed like the perfect company - a hefty expedited fee, but less than most of the other companies, great reviews, nice and seemingly trustworthy sales rep, Tyler. The day of pickup, everything went great. They knew what they were doing, were quick, and packed everything to an amazing extent. What my sales rep failed to tell me was that they brokered the move to another company for the delivery. I asked him when I signed the document and he said it’s owned by the same company, it’s the same thing. Day of delivery, one man shows up at around 5:30pm, alone, without a trolley, He said he was supposed to have a partner but didn’t know where he was. He says, they just pack it and tell me to go. I called Eric (the owner of Great Lakes) and he said that’s not their problem and transferred me to the dispatcher, who hung up on me in my frustration. I called him back and he talked to me in a demeaning manner - calm down, you wanted your stuff today, you’ll get it today. I start moving my own stuff in because at this point it’s around 630 and there is no absolute way one guy can move in all my stuff. The mover (who in all honesty was trying his best, this is all on the company) stops at this point and drives to Home Depot to get a trolley. An hour later he comes back and he has another partner - who when heard i needed to have my bed assembled just said f- that, I’m out. So now it was back to my one and only guy. I unwrapped, assembled, moved boxes, and we “finished” by 11pm. Obviously after being so ripped off by a company it is frustrating to have to pay more to tip the person who actually deserves the most money of all because he basically handled the entire move himself, with help from myself. I’ve never felt so scammed in my life. Do not trust this company. After I spoke to the dispatcher I called Great Lakes back (5min later) and they didn’t answer and their voicemail box was full. Talk about the worst moving experience ever. Awful awful awful!!!

I’ve used Great Lakes Van Lines two times, and each time they did a great job. They are truly dependable. On my moving day they did everything in a proper way. And I simply gave them direction which they followed. They arrived on time; they packed up everything, wrapped my furniture and loaded them into their truck. They made the delivery on time and unloaded them, unpacked them. Everything went perfectly and the cost remained the same. I was so happy and would like to recommend them for sure.

I agree, if there is negative rating option then I would have chosen that. One of the worst customer service and moving service, I feel in The United State. Before booking they were very nice and ready for everything as per your terms and conditions but after you completed the booking and signed contract then whole things will change dramatically. People who came to pickup our stuff, they were very rude and forced to take full insurance, I took that. But while booking he did not took my signed on insurance form even I asked multiple times, he replied no need, you paid so it is already covered. after picking my stuff they said it will be deliver after 15 days whereas it was agreed on booking time that i need stuff on particular day +/- 2 days. it was just 400 miles but after my stuff picked they told something different. it not stopped here they deliver after eject 15 days and they did my TV, Sofa, bad broken and when I told to delivery guys said you don't worry you can raise a claim and will get 100% back. I did the same but it was rejected by insurance org saying you did not took insurance and no were paper signed.I tried to talk the same representative "Daniella Gold" again and again, no one connecting me and she also not giving me any response by phone or email. I lost huge property loss, they will handle your property in very bad way everything will get damaged. prior to booking representative send me many good feedback about there company and link for bad feedback about other companies. I believed and that my biggest mistake i did.

They stole all items from me during my move. Now no one answers the phone. This company goes by multiple names, my Chicago moving, all-around Van lines. Do not use this companyUpdate: it’s been almost a year. Still no contact. Luckily my credit card company refunded me a bit. I will never get back all of the items that were so personally important to me that were stolen, including a journal my mother wrote for my while I was an infant.Eric, sales rep, pretended to be from somewhere else when I tried to contact company again. No one answers phones or returns messages. They will contract out your move if you go out of state.

I moved from Minnesota to Virginia and and went with Great Lakes Van Lines for the job despite reading all the negative reviews. The pick up and drop of went without any hassles. The drivers arrived on time on both occasions and thankfully none of my stuff was damaged or broken as reported by other customers. I also did not have to pay any more than the initial quoted amount. However I was really unhappy with the time it took to deliver my stuff to the new destination. The sales representative promised 5-7 business days for delivery and it took a total of 3 weeks. My stuff was picked up on Jan 25th and I received it only on Feb 13th. This was a huge disappointment. The company should also consider final payment by card or cheque during time of delivery.
