the Graham Foundations building in Chicago's Gold Coast is attributed to architect Richard Schmidt's Chief Designer Hugh Garden. Built in 1902, this gorgeously styled massive brick and stone cube commands attention. Beautifully balanced and geometrically attuned, giving it an intelligent and attractive presence on the block. If you are an architecture aficionado who is visiting Chicago, or the young architect a few blocks away, stop and take in this edifice's unique visual perspectives. Utilize your camera... for posterity! Beautiful, subtle grandeur. Chicago School.

LAMPO used to (and maybe still does!) put on some excellent experimental music evenings here. It's a fantastic building for this type of thing. Keep it up guys.

I encourage you to discover the many cultural offerings within the classic architecture of the Madlener House, a Gold Coast treasure. There's an ongoing variety of interesting art exhibitions, performances, concerts and lectures. The only drawback to this wonderful venue is that parking is a challenge.

This is one of the best hidden gems of a cultural institution in the city, though I suspect that will change after they host the architecture biennial. The Madlener House is a really gorgeous venue for looking at art. All of the original moldings and staircases, etc, are in place. The exhibitions there are always interesting and beautiful mix the disciplines of art and architecture. The monthly(ish) Lampo musical performances in the ballroom is also a real treat, thought not for the faint of ear. It's also really close to the water and it's a good excuse to explore the Gold Coast. Definitely would recommend anyone visit there. #WhatstheT
