I took guitar lessons here many years ago and my daughter took piano lessons here for 8 years. Wonderful, knowledgeable staff!

They repaired the saxophone I bought for my son on Reverb, and got it cleaned up and working great. It took a little longer than I was hoping, but that is understandable. If I had a Rush job, I would ask them beforehand, if that would work out. Friendly service, good quality.

My son started taking drum and piano lessons at Flatts & Sharpe in 2016 when he was only 5 years old. He loves both of his teachers and still takes piano lessons now. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and they have the BEST teachers!

My son took drum lessons for over a decade with the incomparable Joe St. Charles there. An invaluable asset to the Rogers Park neighborhood, enriching literally hundreds if not thousands of lives over the years.

I was in a pinch and in desperate need of a nut for an acoustic guitar. The guy at the register dug through his repair supplies, found a nut that to his best approximation could fit my (very vague tbh) needs, and sold it to me for an incredibly fair price. He let me know of some hiccups I may run into and sent me on my way. Some wood glue, a popsicle stick and 20 minutes later, and the guitar was gig ready again. This isn't the first time these guys have come through for me in a musical emergency, and it won't be the last.

My son has taken in-person piano lessons at Flatts & Sharpe for the last year. He has really benefited from the experience and looks forward to class every week. They offered a chance to play in a band and perform a concert this summer which he’s excited about. We bought an upgraded Yamaha keyboard here which was a good experience. When I need more instruments, I will buy them here.I’m planning to send my daughter here to start guitar when she’s old enough.

Over the past six months, I brought two electric guitars here for a set up. Both times they did a perfect job for a reasonable price. Justin, their guitar tech, is obviously very knowledgeable, conscientious, and is fun to talk to about all things guitar. I'm glad they're in Rogers Park.

We have loved sending our child to Flatts and Sharpe Music Co. for guitar lessons. The staff is friendly, the environment is so inviting and chill, and the teacher we work with is excellent. He provides quick updates after each lesson, and our child is quickly picking up on concepts and technique. His lessons are engaging and as he puts it "FUN." There is a great balance of learning the instrument in an enjoyable and engaging way. Absolutely recommend that if you have a child interested in learning an instrument that you give Flatts and Sharpe Music Co. a call!

Very nice worker!! She fixed my violin strings since they were very loose with no charge and even tuned it for me! 10/10 would 100% go there again.

Took my les paul in for a set-up, and it was no longer playable when they were finished. Would not recommend.

I bought a couple things and had a setup done here last year. Their selection isn't great and I needed to re-do the setup after I got it home. It wasn't *bad*, but nothing was really done. Also, one of my strings broke in the process and they only replaced that one string. When I called to ask about it because it had a different tone than the rest, they assured me it was just because it was new and that they used the exact same strings. (The bass was also brand new so that didn't make a lot of sense, but I also didn't know much about strings at the time so I took their word for it.I just took my strings off for the first time since then and noticed the string that was replaced had a different color end than it should. (My bass has a string-thru body so it wasn't apparent before.)I don't know why they lied to me about it, but definitely not ever going to go back there or recommend the place to anyone. Sad.

Great Customer service. Loved their recommendations for a former guitar player trying to pick it back up. Great brands and value for my money.

Such a cute little shop with artistic decorations. They offer lessons and carry a few types of instruments, mainly string. I found it fun that they had two stands of ukuleles in the store since I just moved from Hawaii. They had my ukulele the simple kala waterman (it's waterproof!) I'd totally consider lessons because I'm not really good but I packed my ukulele in the shipping container and it's maybe a month away. But really cool store worth checking out.

I took in a new electric guitar for a setup as it had a few issues from the factory. Justin had it back to me in one day and now it feels amazing. The action is killer low now and plays like a pro quality instrument-very impressed with the quality of the work. Cost was super reasonable. Real asset to the area.
