We attended one of their open houses on second Fridays, and it was incredible! We even took out three elementary aged children. The artists were all so welcoming to all five of us, explaining their craft and inviting us to explore. We saw traditional Indian dance; heard an opera and a Beethoven sonata; saw inside a puppet theater company; and many multimedia artists. An unforgettable night that I hope fosters my young artists' ambitions!

Gorgeous space!I come here for Kundalini Yoga and when visiting Exile in Bookville bookstore. The security guards are always friendly and it’s really cool to take the old elevator that uses an attendant to operate it. The views facing East are gorgeous and every studio I’ve been in is breathtakingly beautiful.

The Studebaker Building also known as the Fine Arts Building was built in 1885 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. This is a beautiful historical building and a must see. Check it out!!

The building was easy to get to from our hotel. The building architecture was lovely and I especially enjoyed the authentic elevators that had elevator operators to getMe to the floor I needed. Nice people.

Last night was the first time I had been to the Fine Arts Building since the 1990s to see WAIT WAIT DON'T TELL ME.During the taping several people got up and I assumed they were going to the bathroom. 75% of the way through the taping I decided to go to.I got up, there were no employees or signs. I figured it was in the hallway so I went out the doors. A woman followed me. We looked around and there was no bathroom. So we walked down the stairs to the lobby. (I figured it's a theater there has to be a bathroom down there). The security/employees down there looked SHOCKED we were down there. When we asked for a bathroom they were like "Bathroom???". Like it was the oddest request of all time. One guy said "I can take you to the 6th floor to the bathroom". I was so confused, were all these people being taken to the 6th floor???So the woman and I get in the elevator and then I realize they still have the vintage elevators (very cool old iron work and wood elevators) and he's the elevator operator. He takes us up and it's scary but kinda thrilling too. Then we arrive at 2 single use bathrooms and I'm thinking this is really weird. Then the woman and I have to call for the operator to come back and get us. We ask him to drop us at the second floor balcony. He lets us off and we head back to the theater. The doors are locked! They have no handles. The woman and I don't know what to do. Again no one to ask.I wind up knocking hoping SOMEONE will get the door. After a couple different knocking doors my stepfather pops out and lets us in.After the show suddenly there is staff EVERYWHERE. I tell the guy who looks like the manager our story and he points behind a staircase IN the theatre where the bathroom is. When I try to tell him this will happen to people again he doesn't quite get it and just says "well we don't want these doors opening and closing during the show"Anyway - bottom line. I was blonde when I had hair and it's really cool the Fine Arts Building has their vintage elevators and elevator operators.

Performers Music...9th floor. I would love to give this establishment 6 stars for the sheer fact that it has served the community of musicians (classical/jazz/ academic) in Chicago since 1981. It has operated as a faithful resource for printed music and other instrumental accessories, and it has managed to retain that "old school" ambience...which, in my opinion, is PRICELESS.

I was here to see the recording of NPR podcast “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell me” (masks and vax docs required!) nice intimate setting with balconies and two floors of seating. I wouldn’t say it’s quite a black tie ?♀️ ? sort of theater. Kind of airy and drafty . They do have drinks, including wine and an accessible ramp.

When I visited, I was greeted by friendly employees. When I went on the elevator, one of the employees took me to any floor. The best days of the week to visit are Fridays and Wednesdays mornings/afternoons.

This is definitely worth a visit; the book store in this building is really cool, and getting the chance to ride in an elevator with an operator was a really unique experience!

Beautiful building with so many small businesses supporting the arts - shops, instrument repair, lessons. The only building with an elevator operator in all of Chicago!

Awesome building. I did not actually go in but I walked around the building on my visit downtown. Great place to visit. Can't wait to attend a concert there.
