The hotel was good but the staffs at bar on first floor were very rude. They treat you so bad unless you order a lot or tip them in cash. They don’t even take your order.

Elevators were not working throughout the trip. Extra fees for amenities and services that are not offered at checkin. I asked about the amenities and services as I upgraded the room at check in, so I am very disappointed.

Let me start by stating that I am usually a Fairmont Stan. The Royal Oak in Toronto and the Pac Rim in Vancouver are some of my favorite hotels. I’m disappointed to report that the Fairmont Chicago is a bit of a let down.
The rooms are fine, but a bit unkept in the corners; kinda dusty vent registers, caulking that should have been replaced in the bathrooms and such. You get it.
The location is perfect, but the same is true of any hotel downtown here.
Service is where things take a real turn for the worse. The restaurant in the lobby is just very bad and poorly executed. Cocktails are dated and too sweet, the staff are curmudgeons and better suited for diner services. The coffee menu in the morning, despite have many options, was just bad drip coffee poured from the same jug regardless of your order (I wanted a nitro cold brew. I watch them pour me the drip over ice and then insist it was nitro lol). We ordered dessert the night before and what was served to us was not even close to the menu description, but again the staff insisted it was correct. For reference: we ordered a lime and coconut sponge cake with pineapple and orange supremes. What we received was a frozen solid ball of coconut and lime ice cream covered in a chocolate shell with chocolate sauce on top. What? Lol.
It’s just not the service or experience I’ve come to expect from the Fairmont brand.

We have stayed at several hotels in downtown Chicago over the years and feel this is the best so far. The room is spacious, the design is such that the bathroom morning noise is masked by the way the bathroom is placed, two sinks in the bathroom, couch and chair, espresso machine, large tv, nice view. Everything is updated, bed was actually comfortable and the sheets smell fresh. Location makes it easy to walk everywhere.
Rooms: Updated, clean, spacious, quiet.
Nearby activities: Close to River Walk which takes you to Navy Pier if you don’t mind a long walk. You can also rent a Divvy bike.
Safety: We felt very safe.
Walkability: Close to River Walk, cafes, river tours.

This is a thoroughly mediocre property. It definitely feels a bit tired as evidenced by the architecture and interior decor. I booked through Hotwire and thought it was a good deal until I was hit with the mandatory “urban experience fee” which is a ploy to get more money from guests. There was absolutely nothing special about this hotel. The long line at check-in was a nice touch.

Elegant, modern and friendly staff!
Rooms: Huge room with comfy size beds! Great views, too!
Nearby activities: Millennium Park, River Park, 360 View, Architectural Tours, near the shopping area that's on Michigan Street, plenty of eateries and bars!
Safety: Lots of pleasant security and staff! Plenty of lit streets and police presence!
Walkability: Everything is within less of a mile!
Food & drinks: Lots of bars and restaurants
Noteworthy details: Their staff are pleasant, welcoming and make you feel at home! We will return and I will recommend this location to my circle!

Had a nice stay at the Fairmont. Everything met my expectations - room was comfortable and updated, price was reasonable, and lobby staff was friendly and helpful. Where service went above and beyond was with Mandana at the 15th floor gold lounge. She was there for most of the mornings and was extremely attentive and kind. She also paid incredible attention to detail, remembering how my partner and I preferred our coffee and our individual requests after the first day. Her customer service made our experience at the fairmont a memorable one.

Friendly staff and welcoming.
The rooms and services are horrible, bed bugs, slow internet and AC did not work, we kept at 62 but still didn't work. At the end, we opened up the windows in the floor to get cool breeze in.
Walkability: Very near to Chicago River

I visited Chicago to enroll my child at Grinnell College. We stayed at the Fairmont Chicago for 3 nights to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.
First of all, the front desk staff were helpful as they always smiled and explained the hotel services in detail. I needed a microwave, so I requested it and it arrived within 10 minutes.
Second, breakfast was explained in detail, making ordering easy.
I didn't understand English very well, but the staff explained it in detail.
However, when I asked for lemons, I was shocked because they were given to me in a pile of paper.
Third, we assigned a room with a lake view. The rooms are neat
Fourth. Muchi is perfect. Millennium Park, the Art Museum of Chicago, and the Lake are all within a 5-10 minute walk.
I recommend the Fairmont, the best value for money 5-star hotel in Chicago.
Rooms: The room is clean, large and has a nice view.

Chairmont Chicago for 3 days. I stayed and was very satisfied with the service, location, and price.

It's ok. For the price, I was expecting more in the bedroom than overpiced snacks and a filled mini-bar with threatening messages saying if we move drinks from there we'll be automatically charged. I mean, I was not expecting things to be free, but no need to put a message like that. Also, why fill the refigerator with random drinks? I bought some chocolate and wanted to refrigerate it and couldn't. A bit of a weird vibe from these practices.

The room is just fabulous; employees are incredibly helpful and courteous & the food is delicious. The menu prices are expensive, but I don't mind paying more if there's generous portions and it's well made.

Perfect location near millennium park, clean hotel, attentive room service and front desk, and had a lovely time during my work trip. Would highly recommend.
