First time in this bookstore and it was great. They have such a great selection of fiction and nonfiction. I bought several books and found several others that I didn’t even know about but sounded great. Can’t wait to come back

This bookstore is nestled inside the historic fine arts building, and is a wonderful store to explore. The book selection is vast, and I loved all of the personal staff recommendation cards highlighting different books. I was able to find some new books that I hadn't heard of before. Can't wait to visit again!

I love visiting local bookstores. Getting to this shop was a bit confusing, as you walk into a large building and go up some stairs. However, they have a fantastic variety of books and vinyl playing the whole time. Great find.

I was exploring the loop with my mom and decided to FINALLY check out this bookstore. It had been on my bucket list for ages, and this hidden gem of a bookstore exceeded my expectations. The store is on the second floor of the Chicago Fine Arts Building with a lovely view of Grant Park. I had initially wanted to go for the view, and I was impressed that they had a great collection of books. I happened to pick out a middle grade mystery book for my nephew with a glowing recommendation and a note that the author was local. Little did I know that he WRITES in the building and knows the owner! He had the author come down and personalize the book, which I though was such a sweet gesture!I'll definitely be back!

This place is so dreamy! It is filled to the brim with books, but the shelfs and displays are curated. I prefer curated bookstores, and Exile does not disappoint in the breadth of voices they showcase. The staff is super helpful and kind. I would here weekly if I lived in Chicago. Absolutely go visit!

Such a gem. They always help me order in what I’m looking for when I can’t find it. But I always find something unexpected when I just browse on my own. Also the stationary selection is amazing. The owners are passionate about their space, and it shows. It’s rare to find something so authentic downtown. Favorite bookstore in Chicago.

Everything a book lover would want in a book store. A beautiful place to browse and find a classic or a new author.

A hidden book store located on Michigan St. I found this bookstore by chance . Located on the 2nd floor of the Roosevelt University Building is a small but charming book store. When you enter the first thing you notice ins the vinyl Record playing. On this visit I was introduced to the band Pretty Girls Make graces. The clerk was friendly and answered my questions about the band. The store itself is small but had a nice selection . The flavor of the month was horror stories. I do recommend fellow bookworms to take the time and check it out. On a die note the do ship books nationall

What an amazing place. I enjoy few things more than browsing in a really great bookstore, one where the collection has ben curated and you can just lose yourself in the joy of discovery. This wonderful shop had not only the book I came in looking for, but also a great collection of books about music, and art, and science, and fiction, and science fiction. Both proprieters were working, and they helped me sort through the titles I had picked out for myself, and then recommended a couple of others that I ended up loving. It made me wish I lived in town, but I will be back there for sure next time I'm in Chicago.
