We we're celebrating a 49th birthday with some adults, young adults, and older teenagers and it was perfect! The building is nicely located with so many cute shops and intresting restaurant surrounding it. The crew made our experience so much better by interacting and having fun with us. Tickets are very fairly priced. Would totally recommend if you wanna have a great time!!

We did not enjoy this escape room experience, at all. It was dull and low budget. It was also about 90 degrees in the car. We had 2 adults and 3 teens, no one enjoyed this. The building it's located in is cool.

Best escape room I've been to bar none! Agent Nova was so fun and personable and provided the perfect amount of guidance, my partner and I escaped Roaring Dan's Pirate Dungeon with only a minute to spare.I doubted our ability (he had never done an escape room and I had only done a few with my family) however it was the perfect amount of challenging without being frustrating. Would have worked better with more participants but that is stated on the website and we scheduled it a bit last minute for our other friends to join. The theming was beautiful and set was interactive and all the puzzles were logical and intuitive without being too easy (used all three hints, no shame).Family friendly, but suitable for all ages and skill levels. Clean and in a historic Chicago building! Such a cool area to spend the afternoon. As far as accessibility goes, the time gallery is on the second floor with stairs only but with prior notification they can accommodate wheelchairs at another entrance. Room was spacious with seating and more than enough for 8 adults to comfortably roam. Puzzles were possible despite our distractible tendencies, but still kept us on our toes the whole time without being over stimulating for me. Air conditioned. Lockers for secure storage of your objects. Easy emergency exit with clear markings. A manual and a pencil and paper were provided to navigate the different kinds of locks which were marked with corresponding numbers, so even as someone who cursed lockers as a kid, I was able to open them. Historical theming was equal parts hilarious and fascinating/educational.

Friendly staff but the quality of the escape room wasn't quite on par with others - and no AC :(

Our family has done 13 escape rooms across a number of different states and locations. We were all excited to try the CTA themed escape room here. It was fun, but really hot inside the train. Everything in the train felt dirty like it had been touched a gazillion times. Parking was a pain too. I doubt we'll ever come back to this location to try another room.

I'm afraid to count how many escape rooms I've done at this point, but suffice it to say that it's been a few. Overall, I enjoyed this experience and would recommend it. It wasn't perfect or an all-time favorite for me, but it's worth a visit. The biggest negative was finding the building itself; I didn't see any instructions or directions in my email which was surprising because the entrance was unbelievably hidden. (We joked that the first part of the game was actually getting into it in the first place.) Once the Gamemaster directed us to the tucked away door and gave us the code to get in, we weaved our way up the stairs and through the Flatiron Building to find the lone room where The Railcar is hosted. We had a Gamemaster in training who was nice and enthusiastic but (in my opinion) hadn't quite worked down what to tell us in their introduction versus what to let us get from watching the intro videos before the room and in the room. It may be because we pre-gamed our escape with a cocktail, but of all the escape room videos I've seen, this one was the most confusing (and difficult to hear). I don't think that really changed anything about completing the puzzles but it definitely made the context of the escape really confusing.I found some of these puzzles frustrating because some rely on prior knowledge or physical coordination. I prefer puzzles that are contextually self-contained and use information and objects in the room rather than prior knowledge or skill. At the end of the day this was a fun room that I'd recommend but it didn't blow me out of the water.

This was my first time doing an escape room and I was very pleased! Our conductor, Agent Rook, was fun and helpful at just the right moments. We escaped with only three seconds to spare! Would definitely recommend for a group of 5-6!

We did this as a family, 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 9 and 11). It was fun but a little tricky because of all the puzzles to solve. We barely finished but we did just in time, although we did have to get some clues for help. I thought I read that this was one of the easier ones but it turns out afterwards we were told it was one of the harder ones. The room decorations were fun and creative. We had a good time and that's what we were hoping for! Other than the idea of a train blowing up, there wasn't anything scary about it for kids. I would recommend.

We had a great time at Escape Artistry in the Pirate Dungeon! There was a group of 8 kids ages 9/10 and they thought it was the best. Agent Splits was great with our group, providing helpful clues when needed. I've been to a few escape rooms and really like how Escape Artistry incorporated Chicago history into the rooms. Also, the pirate dungeon room itself was really well done with some fun hidden surprises! Adults and kids all loved it. They also have a party room we rented out for a pizza party after the escape room. Overall, it was a big hit!
