I live at Heritage Ridge in Lynnwood WA. Terrible. Leaking, no help, and people park in your paid space.

This is a toxic company, managed poorly by the CEO & staff. The customers who feed this company revenue are stuck with no solutions. This company needs to be reorganized and the staff needs to be fired that manages the properties. There is so much corruption at this company that the CEO should be FIRED.I am sure the 90% of the tenants at Equity Residential will agree this company does the LEAST for its tenants. I highly recommend NOT Supporting this business and applying MAXIMUM PRESSURE on them for EVERYTHING they do.-SCHOONER BAY FOSTER CITY

Mold in the building is not an acceptable excuse to move out even if it is making you sick. I didn't resign after living there 5 years. State law sais that your lease continues on a month to month basis after 1 year. They do not accept that either. They asked me to move out because I didn't resign, then when I did they said I didn't give proper notice. I tried to give notice but no one responded to my emails or calls. The apt manager was on vacation and no one else stepped up. The only one to contact me was a collection agency saying I owed one month rent. So sad that over 5 years of paying rent on time does not matter. They will take your deposit and try to ruin your credit and your life.

**Beware of post move-out practices**We enjoyed our 2 year stay at an Equity Apartments property in Seattle, but had a very traumatic post-move out experience. See our other review for more information. The company's processes are terrible, which is a real shame, because all the employees that we interacted with during our 2 year stay were amazing.

I haven’t lived at center club for a couple years. Paid off everything, account was closed on my credit Karma but today I see I have a new balance due of $700 from center club with no explanation so it made my credit go down a lot! There is no reason why they should be charging me randomly 2 years later

This is the third of fourth time in the last three or four weeks that they were water related issues in the building this morning I woke up and my ceiling was leaking and now I get a letter once again telling me they’ll be problems with my hot and cold water once again this is 3 or 4th in less than a month just to reiterate I’ve been living here almost 14 years and this is an ongoing problem that happens at least 10 to 15 times a year I am a 65-year-old man in bad health it is very cold outside I have a limit mobility and once again there are water related issues I would approximate in the year 2021 they have been at least a dozen more days wife had no water or no hot water and probably 10 times that over the last 14 years and it’s always the same thing boiler problems boiler problems oil problems and again hundreds of tenants have to be inconvenienced in the middle of winter with no hot water or no water at all this is absolutely absurd

I lived at westerly for 3 years 2018-2021. It is the shady thrift store of apartments, management and neighborhoods. I would recommend a westerly apartment for new graduates and young teen adults willing to live with several roommates. For adults aged mid 20s or older, the immaturity of the neighbors and the infancy of the apartment management is blatantly intolerable. Recommendations:Be aware of the deep facade, and look beyond the shallow cosmetics. Westerly management, will be artificially friendly and seductive before you sign the lease. The staged apartments are cosmetically very appealing. When functionality is paramount, Westerly will surely fall short of your basic human needs.Enter a Westerly leasing agreement only after consulting an attorney. The management representatives will be cold, unforgiving, and will wield every legal term. You will be punished for everything, and treated as a hostile monetary threat. The lease includes a blanket loophole to change everything you signed, except cost, by way of community rules. Those friendly and seductive representatives will become hostile psuedo-lawyers instantly, rendering no effective helpful action.Record, *****, and Document every detail, every interaction, and every inch of the allocated unit. Retain all documentation, and retain all notifications. Submit all communications exclusively in writing. Make duplicates where possible. Westerly representatives will make several undelivered promises. You will be required to follow-up on everything. Do not accept an apartment on the bottom floor. 1st floor apartments (in my experience) have rodent, pest and ***** infestation issues. Management will ineffectively attempt to exterminate the pests with contractors, but you will have to vacate the property for 24+hrs.Do not accept an apartment on the top floor. 4th floor apartments will require window AC units. Management will make no attempt to resolve any issue with ****************. The [HVAC] units on the 4th floor are at capacity, and there is nothing we can do -*. ******, ******** Manager.Do not own a vehicle, do not invite any guests with vehicles, and do not go on vacation. Westerly leverages a vile predatory tow company. You and your guests will be towed for everything. The tow policies will change without your consent or notification and retrieving your vehicle will be subject to every fee and fine. Typical tow costs $185/day, no exceptions.Be aware that the neighborhood building numbers (addresses) overlap several times. Consequently, Food services like grub hub, *********, uber as well as package deliveries including ******, will inevitably end up on the wrong door step. There is an ****** Hub, but not all ****** packages fit in the hub. Do not expect any transitions to complete smoothly. In my 3 years, property management has changed, maintenance has changed, trash collection has changed and more. In all cases, the residents suffered some consequence of incompetent project management. All of these issues and concerns have been brought to managements attention, including the ******* regional manager *. *****. Photos and physical evidence available. Management did not resolve the issues, and in many cases did not respond to my emails. Replies that were received were hostile, inaccurate, and a reminder that Westerly owns you as a tenant.

We have been in the same apartment for four decades - a group of senior flight crew. Recently we moved out, which was a very disappointing experience. The office NEVER RESPONDS TO EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS, and we moved out after all this time because when our lease was up, they told us to resign the lease and then they'd negotiate a rental price with us. Really?? As flight crew, we put our lives in the hands of our fellow crew members should we have an emergency on a flight. We trust each other with our lives. The office at our complex in Burlingame, CA accused a senior flight attendant who had a lease for 31 years with them of changing her lock. A pilot who had been in that apartment for 21 years took the key over to the office and explained to them that the lock had not been changed. And another crew member I know set up an appointment to look at an apartment and was stood up by the office. Not professional, don't seem to care and I'd never sign a lease there again. And the rent doesn't include around $200. of water, sewer, boiler, etc charges that are monthly. I am so sorry to say that I would recommend looking elsewhere for an apartment. And READ your lease before you sign it. When you move out they nail you for painting, cleaning, etc. GO ELSEWHERE!

They gave false and misleading information to me when I moved out, which resulted in huge fees. When I contacted the office with questions, they wouldn't respond. Very unprofessional and disappointing. Do not give this unethical company your money.

I moved in to 3003 Van Ness St, NW, DC March 2021 (west tower) and by night one, my sole bathroom was filled with weed smoke that seeps into the rest of our unit. I called the front desk (the building complex is supposed to be entirely smoke-free) and was told they are separate contractors who can't do anything and to contact the leasing office. After sending multiple emails with NO response, I called the leasing office and was told to be patient, they are "working on it" (no further description), and to track when the smoke comes, with no indication of when to share that info or with who. The leasing office only responds now if I call and during business hours. So if there's smoke after business hours, no one is here to help or even walk down the hall to confirm what I'm suffering through. Maintenance was here to fix my closet (separate story about that bar collapsing within a week here) and taped over the bathroom vent when we told them about the smoke (they were also not surprised by the news). We've since added two more layers of tape which is still not enough. Sure the units are large and balconies are nice, but if you're allergic to smoke, have asthma, or just don't want your unit filled with smoke on a near daily basis, this is NOT the building for you. The smoke is causing headaches, sore throats, and scaring our pets. If that's not what you're looking for during a LUNG BASED pandemic, this is NOT the building for you.

Upon arrival of new management, Chantera **** my monthly rent bill was consistently incorrect. When I signed the lease in May 2020 I was given one year of no fee parking from the past manager in writing. Ms. **** voiced her concerns and anger regarding the agreement of no fee parking for one year. So consistently each month from I believe June, July, August, October the monthly rent due was incorrect. I would have to e-mail, call, e-mail and e-mail again until it was corrected so that I could pay the rent. She would charge me for the parking $215.00 and apartment insurance that was given to the office in May 2020. Unfortunately I was unable to pay the additional charges due to finances so I would have to wait for her to have the fees reversed. On two occasions she applied a late fee since I did not know when she had the fees reversed. Ms. **** did not notify me. So, it would be one or 2 days past the late date and she would refuse to reverse the late fee after causing the issue. Then in November there was a drug bust in my building with the DEA, FBI, and Local Police swarming the building and parking garage. Breaking the apartment door down with a crow bar. I was petrified being single and living alone. I tried to call the office several times with NO answer. That was a Wednesday, then on the following Saturday the Local Police were back in my building again. I was unable to talk with anyone in the office and could not get any answers. Since they were not meeting their lease promise of safe and comfortable environment I chose to move. I moved on November 13, 2020. The apartment was left immaculate, the only rug was cleaned by Stanley Steamer, with a video to prove that . The video was e-mailed that evening to Derrick ******** the district manager. In addition, the apartment was rented and had tenants living in the apartment on November 30, 2020. I am being charged for excessive cleaning fees in addition to a full month rent in November and late fees for October 2020 when Ms.**** did not submit the correct fees yet again. It was an unsafe living environment and the manager is nasty and harassing at every interaction. It is disheartening that a corporation of this size would allow this harassment. Other than having to move during COVID, working the front line Ms. **** threatened that she would report me to the Credit Reporting Agency, as she did immediately without attempting to adjust the fees after several e-mails, calls to the corporate center and Mr.********. Nor did they send to a collection agency. All of this during the tough times of COVID with being positive, losing my Mom and working the front line, and all of this harassment. I do not believe that she can legally add late fees, or report to the Credit Agency during COVID-19 pandemic.

I was a resident at Lane Apartments. My $1,200 ebike was stolen in their paid custodial bike locker. When I moved out I was sent a bill for an "early move out" and they were claiming the end date of my lease was later than the one noted on my lease. They said my deposit was only $400, when it was really $500. Terrible company.
