I love DWR and have purchased items online and from many great DWR stores across the country. I have never stepped into a less friendly store than this one. Store was empty (not a single customer other than us) and there were 6 staff members, all on laptops, and only one looked up to say hello. We were there with hopes of purchasing all new furnishings for an entire condo that we just purchased. Needless to say, we moved on to all the other stores in Chicago that might be interested in our business.

I purchased a chair that was advertised with certain features, but upon receiving it, I was disappointed to find that these features were missing. Additionally, the lack of customer service or support made it difficult to address this issue. I hope this feedback helps others make an informed decision before buying from Design Within Reach - Even Better Business Bureau gives DWR an overall F

Great designed products… along with VERY poor customer service - not just from this store but the entire company.Through multiple interactions, have had a in-store sales agent refuse to help show us a (very expensive) piece of furniture that we wanted to see in person before purchasing.Have had the company cancel a sale order, the day after, for an item that was listed as IN STOCK on their website. When calling to find out more information, they were very unhelpful and uninterested in helping make it right.I would really like to purchase furniture from this company…. But everything they do seems to make that incredibly difficult.

The best collection under one roof for modern furniture, lighting, accessories including iconic pieces from Herman Miller, Knoll, etc. Not for the traditionally minded. Very helpful, friendly staff.

I worked with Brian Parsons and he is hands down the best designer I have ever worked with. He helped us plan our new move in Chicago, and couldn’t have been more helpful. I am not well versed in interior design and find it hard to put things together that match and go well, but Brian is VERY detailed oriented, listened to our ideas and provided his very expert opinion. We get SO many compliments on our apartment and it’s all thanks to Brian. He is hilarious, relatable and the easiest person to work with - always reachable and was able to help us with every inch of our space, he came over to make sure everything was arranged correctly and even helped us plant our new plants around the place to wrap it all up! Could not be more happy with his work and help every step of the way.

Selection was okay but construction quality and prices are really of the mark. I could almost understand the enormously high furniture prices these days of the quality was of high grade, but it's not and evidently manufacturers don't even have to try hard because people seem to buy anything these days.)

Beautiful selection, which is well curated with the classics, but also updated with the latest best manufacturers. Always appreciate the great customer service when furnishing my home. Ask for Nick Wise, he is extremely knowledgeable and his advice has gone a long way in making our home.

I treat this like a museum of designed objects instead of a store because like both they are out of my price range but at least I’m not expected to buy from a museum

Potential customers: don't shop online here. Based on my online experience, I also won't be shopping in person, but that's up to you.DWR: If you're reading this, listen up for some hot e-commerce tips circa 1999!Step 1: Only list items on your website that you have in stock. If you do not have an item in stock, do not list it on your website or at least don't take potential customers' money without telling them the item isn't actually in stock and that you have no earthly clue when it will be.Step 2: If you erred and allowed customers to purchase items that you did not have in stock, and you do not even know when you will get the items in stock, cancel their order. Or email the customer. Or call them. Do anything!**Anything OTHER than charging their card, refunding the charge, re-charging without warning or permission, and inexplicably repeating that process for months so the customer never knows when you are withdrawing their funds.Step 3: If you've failed steps 1 and 2 and the customer emails your customer support account requesting an order cancellation, respond to their email.Step 4: If you've failed steps 1-3, consider getting the hell out of the online retail business.Final edit to add that I know many retailers are still experiencing backlogs due to Covid-19. I took that into consideration when writing my review and I tried to cut DWR some slack due to that, but months of issues and charges to my account with zero communication can't all be blamed on Covid.

Marc Frazier at DWR is a consummate professional when it comes to customer service. Not only was he extremely helpful and knowledgeable when it came to my wife and I selecting a classic work of modernist art/furniture for her studio/office, he was incredibly responsive outside of normal business hours. Marc recommended a delivery company (dolly) who was able to smoothly deliver our chair to us over the weekend. He also went out of his way to make sure the chair was prepped and ready for pickup. The DWR online team is very knowledgeable and helpful as well. Even during the early days of the COVID lockdown, they were able to arrange for the delivery of several items in a timely manner...even when another competitor fumbled our order so badly we had to cancel it during a move between homes...six weeks after we placed the original order with the unnamed company.DWR’s furniture lines are elegant and representative of some of the best furniture ever designed. Is it pricey? Yes, some of it is expensive....having said that, the furniture is well made. You get what you pay for.

For the price of furniture, the customer service was apathetic and the sales experience was uninspiring.

One of the worst customer service experiences of my life. I strongly urge the person reading this to avoid this company. Their customer service is terrible. They had no problem telling me multiple times that they will reach out to me with updates on my long delinquent order and then fail to do even that. Their logistics capability is laughable for a company doing business in the US in 2020. They had absolutely no clue where the product I ordered was 6 weeks after they processed my order. They merely guessed it was sitting on a loading dock somewhere. Seriously, this not a legitimate business to deal with. Would give 0 stars if possible.

I cannot say how disappointed I am with the customer service of this supposed high-end store. We spent tens of thousands of dollars furnishing our new house last summer and have emailed and called numerous times for two issues we are having, receiving no help whatsoever. One of the items we purchased was a leather desk. I use the desk all the time and got pen marks on it. I have called and emailed repeatedly just to get instructions on how to clean the desk, without any response. I literally have been trying to get help from the store on this issue for 7 months. Just promises to get back to me. Additionally, we have a problem with an extendable dining room table. The mechanism is not working properly. We took videos and pictures per the stores request, sent them months ago. The table is under warranty. We have had ZERO follow up. This was all before COVID-19. It is really unbelievable.
