Anna McCrerey of Compass has been knowingly misleading mls descriptions. She first stated a condo unit does not have hoa "Cash only due to NO HOA" I texted her if there is no HOA, who is paying for water, common area electricity, lawn mowing, common area cleaning, snow removal etc.? She did not respond nor she changed the mls description. I contacted mls, and Anna McCrerey changed a bit but still put narratives on mls that she and her client doesn't know how much monthly assessment is and HOA doesn't provide documentation. Since her LLC client purchase the unit in 2018, not knowing how much assessment seems far fetched. I called her, and shockingly she knew there was hoa when she claimed there was no hoa. in her emails she is back and forth some point she said her client paid assessment, but still claims they do not know how much monthly assessment is so buyer must verify assessment? her remarks that hoa did not provide documentation is also misleading; she stated to me she talked a board person that her client is willing to pay assessment if hoa provides 22.1 documents such as reserve amounts, any legal actions, etc before her clients pays assessments. there is no requirement hoa to provide 22.1 documents to real estate agents even before there is sales contract. i attached her statements that are back and forth, conflicting between her own statements and with mls. there was previous seller who did not pay assessment by claiming there is no hoa. this llc buyer who never pays assessments for years and get away with not paying assessment is unfortunate. she doesn't even respond if buyer has to verify how much assessment is (contrary to illinois law that require seller to provide paid assessment letter for warranty deed), will seller provide quit claim instead of warranty deed?

You are better off looking for places on your own. Luca Cannarile is notoriously late to any showing you arrange. You also cannot look at listings yourself (via craiglists, Zillow, etc) in tandem with using his services. When my roommate and I viewed and applied for a place on our own. Luca sent a large text saying we wasted his time, that we didn't make enough money to be picky and went as far as mocking my personal appearance. Unprofessional and inappropriate.

I would strongly recommend using Dan O’Donoghue with Compass for buying a home. I recently purchased my first home and Dan was extremely helpful throughout the entire course. He’s very knowledgeable and gave me excellent suggestions and advice throughout the entire home buying process. Dan was always accessible and easy to reach. He immediately set up a list of homes that were in my budget and the location I was looking. Whenever there was a property I was interested in Dan quickly scheduled and confirmed showings. Dans work was extremely thorough and fast. When I found the house I was interested in, Dan was able to submit my offer within the hour of the showing. I was able to get my offer accepted on a home with multiple interested parties thanks to Dan and the team he suggested I work with.He referred me to Paul Isaacson with Origin Point who was always available to speak with me when I had questions and went over the whole loan application and borrowing process line by line with me. Dan also referred me to Michael Grabill, who is an excellent attorney and was able to get me through closing hassle free. Michael, Dan, and Paul worked extremely efficiently together and I was able to purchase my home quickly and confidently!!

If you are looking to rent, don’t waste your time with Compass. The agents are incredibly responsive at first, but after you pay the application fee you get maybe one email every other day. When touring the unit, I was told it would take 1-2 days to be approved which sounded perfect since we were moving from out of state to start new jobs in three weeks. I told the agent this and that we would need to move-in in two weeks, along with our desired move-in date and he said that shouldn’t be a problem. We applied online and then paid for our background checks, but were told that there had been multiple applications received for the unit and they would approve the applicant with the highest income and credit score. And now, there was no timeline for when this decision would be made. However, we were told our application would transfer to other units. Since we needed to start moving fast, we ended up looking at another unit and wanted to apply there so we had a backup plan, but were told by another agent the application didn’t transfer. We wasted $160 and still didn’t have a decision back to us a week later. Everywhere else finished our background checks within hours. They also refused to accept our offer letters and would only look at 2022 income, which not only was no longer accurate, but was what we made in a much lower cost of living area. Overall it was a very frustrating experience that resulted in an extra last minute trip to find housing elsewhere. I wish they had been more honest about the process upfront.

Eva went above and beyond helping me find my first home. I’m very picky and selective when it comes to buying a new home, so she expressed so much patience and was diligent with the process. I will always recommend Eva to anyone who is looking to purchase new property.

It's clear that Compass focuses on property purchases over rentals. They need a major reconstruction for how they handle rental contracts and agreements. Compass left me stranded without a place to live before a major trip on the other side of the world due to extremely long and unnecessarily intricate application process. They require very personal information for their application without a secure portal provided by the company to use. Some of the documents have my social security number and other personal information. If that's a requirement, I would expect to have appropriate measures to keep my information safe. In addition, I owned a home prior to the property I lived in at the time of application and they were requiring to speak to my ex-husband to get a reference. That is absurd and feels incredibly unnecessary and inappropriate. It put me in a very awkward situation when my financials and credit score were very strong. From start to finish, the entire process took 12 days to get a final decision back and my leasing agent tried to explain how that's normal to me. It's not. This wasted some very valuable time I needed before my trip to source a place to live. They told me 3 hours before my flight that it wasn't going to work out, when I had been very responsive and crystal clear about my situation and needs. To further prove that, I was able to secure a different place to live while I was on the other side of the world on vacation within 6 days - literally half as long as it took with Compass. When I had asked my leasing agent for further help after the other property fell through, they instead suggested that I purchase a property with them. In my profession, I have referred millions of dollars in sales to Compass realtors and am thoroughly disgusted by my treatment. I cannot believe how much I felt insulted by this company for a process that should have been very straightforward.

One of the worst experiences I've had with agent.Even before seeing the place we asked about our move in date to prevent wasting any time. The move in date was seemingly accepted by Eva and LandlordAfter seeing an apartment twice we confirmed various times with Eva, and we had written approval and agreement of move in time and date from Eva which was supposedly discussed with landlord .. all good to move forwardAfter paying application fee (which she stated in multiple emails it would be refunded) we were approved and excited to get contract completed. Eva's lack of attention to detail began to show, sending over a contract that was complete wrong1 of 2 tenants were incorrect, wrong move in date.We immediately communicated to Eva the error and she began to ignore and essential blame us for a miscommunication. After a week of reaching out and multiple emails ignored , Eva told us she found a different tenant for earlier move in and more money. I felt that was completely inappropriate. I understand it's the landlord decision but she never once took accountability in her miscommunication between her and landlord after we had extensively discussed back and forth. We finally received our refund after multiple emails and calls to compass, 3 weeks later again blaming the website not her forgetting to issue refund. As she doesn't know our email showed when she requested refund of application feeShe never offered to help find a new place or even apologize for the situation which is all we really wanted as a common courtesy and expectation for a professional.I would never engage in a listing tied to her name and possibly any compass realty property in future.

** Compass / UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES **As a local and very active real estate investor & developer I have dealt with every major and many small reality firms. Over the last year I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Compass /. My realtor was asked to join a boutique firm while working with the owner of that company on a high profile project (show airing dates will be published at a later date). Soon after the firm was purchased by Compass / and all firm members got rolled over. They started out with the whole new technology biggest and brightest Jazz that many inexperienced realtors ate with a spoon. Many of the experienced teams made the move for the signing bonus and will likely be relocating once term limits expire. We decided to give them a chance to see if the hype was legitimate. That was when all of the problems began. Things seemed fairly smooth at first but something seemed to be off, something I couldn't quite put my finger on. As time progressed It became very clear they didn't care for our investment demographics (south & west sides) also known as affordable income housing and neighborhoods.Low income ethnic neighborhoods isn't something they want to be associated with in any way as it doesn't fit into their luxury image. They believe having their sign in front of these properties in these neighborhoods tarnishes their reputation. We redeveloped a sfr in the east Garfield neighborhood and sold it in under 30 days. At that point a team leader we had never met said he was entitled to a referral fee which made no sense as he was not involved in any way. When confronted they said it was an error and resolved the issue.Within 1 month they said we would have to join a team as that is compass' business structure. Which was their way of pushing us out to get cut the tie with affordable income housing. We decided to leave compass to join a realty firm that understands and believes in our mission to revitalize Chicago's most vulnerable neighborhoods and rebuild our communities. We had a few properties under contract when we left compass. Most experienced realtors know many unethic firms try to play with commission pay outs after you leave them. That was exactly the case with compass, the first closing took 3 weeks to process. For the second closing they took 3 weeks and tried to pull the team adjusted percentage, which was ultimately resolved. The third and final closing a 400k deal took over a month to process (with multiple inquiries) and was adjusted with a 40% disassociation fee. After reflecting on my experiences and interactions with this company I have to say I believe they are an UNETHICAL/border lined racist firm that focuses only on the wealthy and gentrification of our neighborhoods! It is my pleasure to make the prediction that this fast moving, flashy, company will be hit very hard during the next correction as luxury is always the hardest affected. They will lose extremely valuable market share by not embracing our local communities and helping to rebuild them.I can also say as a developer I reserve the right to refuse any deal with a compass associated attached. I refuse to do business with a blatantly unethical discriminatory firm such as compass!
