“I just left The Waste Shed and it was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. I'm autistic and have become more and more homebound as the years have passed but I asked to come here for mother's day. The store is a crafty person's theme park. It's filled to the brim with anything and everything you could dream of. My budget was miniscule but I was able to afford a rare treat of craft supplies. The staff is kind and patient. I'm going to make a bigger effort to come out because it's a treasure , thank you The Waste Shed!”

“Super cool spot. Upon arriving, I had no clue where the entrance was. It was only when people came out of the building that I realized that was the entrance. Once inside, I was left in awe of the magnitude of the place. A huge old warehouse transformed into a book “store”? Absolutely amazing. REMEMBER, you put the price in the books, not the other way around. When I was here, the cashier tried to give me a price when it shouldn't be like that. Don't feel intimidated and pay whatever you think is fair. There’s also a Spanish section right by the entrance.”

“Sorghum Symphony started out at the Hatchery during the pandemic. The amazing team has held our hand at every step of our journey and continue to be our village. Besides the facility to make product, the Hatchery also provides classes, one-on-one coaching, networking and sampling opportunities, access to trade shows, recommendations to trade partners like packaging designers, lawyers, etc.
I definitely recommend the Hatchery to any food entrepreneur who is starting out!”

“I love the carcade. Great merch and so many comfy spots for lounging cats. The murals in their new space are so good. We did have a not so friendly interaction with one employee during our visit that was a misunderstanding. But that was a one off and could chalk it up to just that. My experiences here have always been really positive and cat-centered.”

“Cliff Dwellers is an amazing asset to the City of Chicago. It is of no surprise that they'll have been established for over 100 years. Their recent meet and greet was an incredible opportunity for groups seeking funding to meet with different foundations looking to bridge the gap. It is a great club because of its amazing members. And the view is just priceless.”

“As an Insurance Agent in Illinois, I'm proudly registered with the Illinois FAIR Plan Association as this allows me to find Homeowners Insurance for Illinois families that have had a bad string of luck in recent times with having to file home insurance claims only to be non-renewed by their carrier and also unable to find insurance elsewhere due to being ineligible due to their recent claims history. The FAIR Plan offers a variety of Coverage Plans and Various Deductibles to meet the affordability of their policy holders. I will always support an association that provides home insurance to those who can't find it. In many cases these families still have Mortgages and are required to carry Homeowners Insurance. Furthermore, weather related claims and many homeowner claims aren't within the homeowners control. Thanks for helping Illinois families Illinois FAIR Plan Association.”

“Temple Head Start was the start of both of my children’s education. Both have graduated a long time ago.My son is now 26, graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a GPA 3.6, and now is a Engineering Manager at Wahl’s Clipper Corporation. My son was born prematurely 3 months early. The staff was wonderful with him and he never missed a beat. The doctors said he would never thrive with his class but with the help of Temple Head Start we made sure he thrived with his class! My Daughter is now 20, a student at Howard University majoring in Media Broadcasting Journalism with a GPA 4.0. My daughter was 2 months prematurely. Like my son they said she would not thrive with her class. Again with the help of Temple Head Start we made sure she thrives with her class.I want to give thanks to the entire staff from 1998 - 2008. I truly appreciate you all.If you are looking for a head start for your child where the staff loves and cares for your child as if they are their own. “I started back going to this food pantry after the pandemic but the lady that check you in is rude. She’s only nice to the people that she knows. She tells people there’s a long line and to come back later. I also had to ask her for my ticket to go down stairs and there was only 5 people in line. Someone else was complaining they came that morning and she told them to come back. They tell people the tickets determine what meat they get. One lady left because she had to go to work. She also gave one lady ground turkey when she asked for fish and told her since she did not have a ticket she could only get ground turkey. Please we have to be a little more kind to one another. The team that volunteered before the pandemic was kind to everyone whether they knew you or not. Some of the volunteers are nice but one or 2 mean ones just put some of the people that come in on edge otherwise this is a very nice food pantry.”

“Located in a large modern architectural building in the Chicago neighborhood, Lawndale, BBF is very welcoming. They offer so many important services in this low-income community. -Social programs, academic tutoring, emotional health services and career development opportunities. When I was asked to volunteer at a city wide "baby shower" and toy giveaway, I knew immediately that I wanted to do it. Spending my day greeting expectant mothers and children who were anxious to pick out toys, I was so glad to be a part of the event. I knew that Lawndale had a lot of gun violence, but I still met way more young pregnant mothers who had just recently lost their partners to it than I expected. Way more. Gun violence and poverty is a serious threat to this community, so organizations like Building Brighter Futures are so needed. The event held here was pretty amazing. Not only were there tons of brand new baby clothing, but there were also new strollers, pack-n-plays, and breast pumps. They had free toys for kids and they had massage therapists on site who were offering free prenatal massages for the expectant mothers. It was truly wonderful to see so many people come together to help some of the most vulnerable people in this community. -women and children. This is a great organization to consider if you're wanting to donate time and money to something of real value.”
