No bed bugs or roaches.
The room and hotel were decently clean, and I still had my catalytic converter when we left.
Staff was wonderful and friendly.
The only con for me was the noise on the east side of the building at night.
The views are great on that side, but the L train and sirens were pretty constant.
The location for sightseeing was decent as well for the price.
There's a bus stop right on the corner and a diner to the west within a half mile or less.
The elevator was working and the water pressure and heat was fine.

Very dirty hallways, elevators...appeared to not been vacuumed in weeks.
Holes in the hallway walls, missing paint.
In one of our rooms, most electrical receptacles didn't work.

Highly recommend looking for another hotel. This is not a friendly place for kids the whole hotel smelled like weed and the room was not properly cleaned it was humid and just uncomfortable. Did not feel safe staying there the only good part was that the parking was free.

The worst hotel we been. Beside being clean and the bed comfy. It goes down from here. No soap/shampoo/conditioner, no wifi, no tv(we complain and no one came to fixs). There is mould in the bathroom and no smoke alarm. And situated opposite the rail line make it so noisy. Definitely won’t be back. Room 251

I’m here with my husband I figured i need to get away after the passing of my dad. Just wanted to relax get away from everyone and watch tv. We are here for 3 days and our tv is not working after many calls to report problem it’s still not fixed. Several of their workers came in to try to fix the problem still can’t get the tv working. Even had the nerve to ask us do we have a ruku monitor im so upset and this use to be one of my favorite spots. You would think the manager would of reached out to us but haven’t heard from anyone so im watching movies off my phone im pissed.

Chicago South Loop Hotel offers budget-friendly accommodations with a convenient location near McCormick Place and public transportation. Guests appreciate the free parking and Wi-Fi, as well as the spacious rooms. However, reviews are mixed, with some mentioning dated furnishings, cleanliness issues, and inconsistent service. If you're looking for an affordable option with easy access to the South Loop and don't mind basic amenities, this hotel could be a decent choice. However, if you prioritize modern comforts and consistent quality, you might want to consider other options.

For the amount of money we paid the experience was definitely not worth it. 1200 For four nights. Location was amazing, We were close to everything We came to see. The downsides? We had a tiny TV and a tiny bed in a huge room with a loveseat that had stains from the countless previous tenants. Lights would flicker all the time in my room. No complimentary breakfast.
I was put in a room across from an escort. Elevators never worked or sounded like they were moments away from collapsing . Hot water would NOT work in a hotel? That was crazy . Pillows and bed were super uncomfortable . The soap was out in their dispensers. This place has 0 amenities. You can spend a little more and get a better deal.
Or airbnb for the same amount of money. I was super let down by my stay here and genuinely feel like I was ripped off for $1200.

Hotel is located at at State & 26 Street. One bus (#29) on State Street, with bus stop 100m away from the hotel, takes you to the tourist attractions at Navy Pier.
Virtual kitchen located about 400m away - place your order, walk over and pick up. Exceptionally convenient and cost effective.
Staff was exceptional. One day, my family and I needed to get on the bus to go to the tourist attactions. The hotel could not make change for the bill that I had. So, the manager personally gave me $7 so that our family could get on the bus and we could have our money broken into smaller bills at the tourist attraction. EXCEPTIONAL service which exceeded my expectations.
Upon reading the various reviews in advance of booking, I did not know what to expect. But the hotel was great. Room was large, clean and well furnished. Shower always worked. Soap and shampoo dispenser were always full. And room was cleaned daily and very well by the cleaning staff.
I would highly recommend this hotel. We enjoyed our stay. I would not have any concerns about booking here if I were to return to Chicago.
Rooms: Room was large and well furnished. Had two double/queen beds, sofa, chair, desk , fridge.... and there was still plenty of space to move.

John and Jim went above and beyond accommodating the situation my friend and I were in, highly professional staff! A shame that the first two rooms were not in acceptable states (the first one is not anyone's fault on account of the broken door, though the dirty sheets in the second room was a little egregious), but hey third time's the charm, right? Thank you for all that you do here!

Apparently, there is supposed to be a cafe and restaurant abs they were both closed. There are no restaurants, gas stations, or convenient stores near the location, so we either had to walk 1/2 an hour, rent bikes, rideshare, or have food delivered.
Walkability: Nothing within reasonable walking distance.

Went to take a shower only to find there was NO shower gel, NO shampoo. They had the dispensers mounted in the shower, but were empty. Shower curtail only covered half the bath. Water Pressure was bad and Luke warm water. There was NO coffee pot nor did they even serve coffee in the hotel. Rooms seemed very old. TV was on with a bright solid blue screen that I couldn’t turn off so I had to unplug it. I’ve stayed at cheap hotels that were much nicer. Would NOT recommend this hotel. Very disappointed!

Awful.. booked for 3 night and checked out after 1. Nothing worked, elevators, vending machines TV had no service.. No soap or shampoo in shower.. No breakfast or any food onsite. I see these are all problems in the past months so nothing has changed. They put sheets on the outside of the comforter?? Don't stay here!!

Quirky hotel with clean, massive rooms. Would definitely stay here again.
Rooms: Our 5th floor room had a king bed and a separate sitting area including a couch, chair, and table.
Walkability: 5 min walk to a couple restaurants, 10 min to the business district and L station.
Noteworthy details: Service was friendly, efficient, and accommodating -- our first room's A/C wasn't working, but they swapped us to a new room without any trouble, and everything there worked fine.
The L runs along one side of the hotel, so if you don't want to hear it, request a room in the other wing.
