My reservation was changed without my knowledge so they expected me to check out a day earlier.

I always prefer staying at Marriott over any other hotel chain. However, I could not have been more disappointed during my stay here at the Marriott downtown magnificent mile hotel. I got to my room to see my bathroom was filthy. I can’t even describe in detail how gross it was but think hair on the toilet and floor. The room clearly has not been cleaned well before my arrival. The rooms are very dated and not up to Marriott’s regular standards. The staff were cold and dismissive of the issues I had with my stay. Both times I ordered room service it took twice as long as promised and I had to call them both times to verify they were still bringing it. Total apathy when I spoke to that team. I had two issues with my reservation and was told by one of the staff they would take care of it but then told by the management and the accounting team they would not help me. I was overcharged by $550 and after escalating the issue I was dismissed and told they would not help me. If I could give zero stars here I would. The location was good but everything else was horrible.

We stayed with a family group on marathon weekend. Nothing bad to say about this place. Great location. Friendly staff. Very clean and quiet. A good Starbucks store in the lobby. We didn’t try the restaurant but others said it was good.

This has been by far my worst experience with a Marriot brand of any kind. The service both at front desk and bell staff very mediocre and the room even worse. I would call it a 2 star type room. The location is its only perk however the noise due to the location also not worth it. I decided to check out immediately. Do not recommend this place and will never return.
Rooms: Old amenities. Dirty carpet. Broken and old wood

It is hard to rate this place. Service is very important in my personal rating. Mixed service experience so far with some good front desk people and others who should not be people facing. Small rooms with low ceiling but great view and layout. Hallways look tired. Lobby is nice and looks refurbished. Location is great for businesses and casual traveler to the city. Safety would be a concern as restricted key access (something that’s a given these days) is missing from this hotel’s elevators. Anyone can go to any level in the hotel without key card access. For me it is 3 star hotel in this price range.

Endless struggles
From the moment we walked in until we checked out, our 3 nights stay was full of unnecessary struggles in order to get what we were entitled to in the first place as Titanium Elite members.
I feel the basic problem is the front desk staff who really don’t care too much. The one that checked us in made it very clear that she was simply waiting for her shift to be over…and thus refused to give us breakfast vouchers or an upgrade by falsely claiming they were sold out.
Luckily we met Devine the manager who was professional and attentive and upgraded us.
We later met another manager , Emma, who assisted us with the breakfast issue.
On our last night we were granted a late checkout ( as Titanium we are entitled to 4pm ) and we asked and got an extra hour.
BUT, at 4:06 , our phone rings and we received an intimidating phone call from someone called Rico who told us that “ either we left the room immediately or he will charge us an extra 100$”.
We were shocked by the way he talked and by the fact that he wasn’t even willing to listen. Again , another call with another manager who sorted everything .
3 nights and so many struggles simply because the front desk staff doesn’t really care.
Luckily they have very nice and professional managers to sort things out but it shouldn’t be like that.
We were left with a very unpleasant feeling.
Rooms: Nice clean room

Great view and a fairly nice room. Liked the ample luggage rack and extra seating in the room. The taxi stand manager was very helpful. The servers in the bar and restaurant were friendly and capable. However I will never stay there again, and probably not another Marriott either. Shady to have a Destination Fee on top of a premium room rate. And, the destination fee was promised to be credited to all charges made to the room. Didn’t happen. The accounting on the bill was incomprehensible. A shell game of accounting.

Great location for walking around the Magnificent Mile and other hot spots. Loved the huge lobby bar area for hanging out and drinks. Tons of quality restaurants nearby. Only reason I knocked off a star is there was a used, crumpled up mattress pad on the floor in hallway near our room. It stayed there for 3 of the four days despite our reporting it on day 2.

We just got back from our first time in Chicago. The reason why we enjoyed it so much was cause of this hotel! It was the perfect location, rooms were so clean and mainly the customer service was top notch. We had a gentlemen named Flin help us at the desk and he was so incredibly accommodating and nice! We will definitely stay at this hotel when we come back.
Rooms: Very clean
Nearby activities: River North, Boat Tours and Rooftops
Safety: Felt safe!
Walkability: Close to a lot of places to check out!
