I've been waiting on my lease for weeks! and still no update of when I could move in. Everytime I call them they just keep saying the same thing it's under review, it's under review like okay this is very annoying, all I want to know is when can I move in. It shouldn't take this long to get my lease and move in this is just stupid. I've been in two shelters now currently in my second and been homeless for 1 year and 6 months. They also never answer the phone and have the nerve to have an attitude when you ask them why everything with the move in process is so slow. ? They just aren't doing their job at all and just don't care about the homeless crowd of individuals in Chicago. I wish I can rate them zero stars if I could!? Terrible service!!! ?
My rating: 0 stars.

The worst. All these properties they have but they want people to stay homeless. They lack empathy for people of Chicago. This is unfortunate because this is the only resource we have in the city. The mayor needs to reconsider this program as it lacks the customer service and support for the citizens of Chicago

Wayyyyy to many landlord in Chicago discriminate ppl who have over 3 kids! Which makes it hard for parents n risk losing their voucher. Since it illegal to deny ppl because of their voucher they will deny u because of your "credit" but really deny u because of how many ppl are in the household. They don't care about the rent money aka CHA money and wonder why their property is not renting out n they also (landlord) collecting the non refundable fees n still not renting out their unit or property..

CHA should stand for Completely Helpless @ssholes. I swear, trying to get anything resolved is like Abbot and Costello ("Who's on first? No Who's on Second.") I have a great tenant that I inherited from the previous landlord. They want to move out, but they cannot since the CHA failed their new unit that IS IN A CHA MANAGED BUILDING! To add insult to injury, and drive me to broke, they CANNOT PAY THE VOUCHER UNTIL THE CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP IS COMPLETED! It can take "Up to 60 days to complete." Guess what? We're onto day 70. Who can afford to live without payment for 3 months? My tenant was even nice enough to try and call for me, since they won't give me any info, the previous owner tried to call for me and email and no info, and I HAVE CALLED REPEATEDLY FOR NEARLY 3 MONTHS! Of course, they cannot give me any info, cause the new owner change hasn't been completed! This is a sad excuse for a government agency.

The Chicago Housing Authority is supposed to provide affordable homes for those in need. But the agency has nearly 500 scattered-site units that are vacant — many causing problems for their neighbors and are used as violence and drug hubs for the city.Example: 849 N. ST Louis

CHA's website says they close at 5 pm and so does their satellite office on S Albany. I got here at 4 pm. After re explaining multiple times whom I was there to see they couldn't even call the person because they didn't know who the person was (no directory available?). Finally I was redirected to the 9th floor by the main floor trained staff member but it was too late because it now was 430 pm also I couldn't go to the 9th floor because the elevator was broken and then the people on the 9th floor don't work until 5:00 p.m. they leave at 430pm. The main floor staff member was in a hurry to leave even though it wasn't 5 pm yet. CHA needs to cross train their employees, and update their website it is 2024 what's up. GOOD LUCK.

Every single person you speak to on the phone will not give you a concrete answer. They speak to you like you are a special education student with condescension and as though you communicate with pictures. Let it be known that if you are a landlord and your building (no matter how small the repair) does not pass the inspection, they put you into abatement, which means YOU NEVER GET BACK PAID FOR THE TIME THAT THE TENANT LIVES IN YOUR PROPERTY. Do not use CHA if you are a landlord because they will not help you. They do not have a technology department. Therefore if you get locked out of your portal, you have to physically go down to any of the locations listed in order for them to even consider helping you. Every person I have spoken to has made the process of being a landlord more difficult than it has needed to be. I feel sorry for the other landlords who have someone stuck in their property.

This program is flawed. They hold there landlords accountable for keeping up the units. But they don’t hold there tenants accountable for keeping up the units. CHA/Section 8 takes NO accountability for the type of people they allow in there program and they don’t care if there tenants ruin your property. I advise all new landlords to stay away from section 8 tenants until CHA/Section 8 creates more favorable conditions for landlords. We will be protesting these unfavorable landlord conditions very soon.

Sign-in at the security desk by CHA sign, and this is one of the computers in the lobby you're able to use.

The south office is thee worst been in the move process for 4 months. No one calls back, no updates, no nothing, all I get is ooo we are backed up from covid and short staffed, everyone is trying to move. They have horrible attitudes when you are trying to get clarity on what’s going on. Really thinking about taking this to the news platforms. This is horrible

With all the respect they deserve, but they are the worst at answering calls, or rather they never answer them and even less return them. I am a citizen who has not asked the state for anything, much less the government, and they cannot cooperate now with someone who asks for help. TOTAL OUTRAGE!!!
