“Great experience today at Botanica Victoria! I received a spiritual cleanse. The owner helped me choose a product for my needs and educated me on how to use it properly. Thank you <3 I will be returning in the future.”
“I just left The Waste Shed and it was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. I'm autistic and have become more and more homebound as the years have passed but I asked to come here for mother's day. The store is a crafty person's theme park. It's filled to the brim with anything and everything you could dream of. My budget was miniscule but I was able to afford a rare treat of craft supplies. The staff is kind and patient. I'm going to make a bigger effort to come out because it's a treasure , thank you The Waste Shed!”
“I absolutely love Judy Maxwell home. I think that Joan is great to put this little store together and sell the coolest items. I really love this store, its where i get all my Christmas shopping at.”
“Very cute store and I was happy to see they are still taking covid seriously! I've never been to a dedicated yarn store but the staff helped me find the perfect yarn for the sweater I'm crocheting.”
“Teresa has a tremendous eye for framing anything and nails it every time. My framed pieces look simply amazing, and they are well protected from damaging sun rays.”
“(Translated by Google) It has a wide variety of yarns or accessories for souvenirs for any occasion and the owners are very friendly??(Original)Tiene una gran variedad de estambres o accesorios para recuerdos pa cualquier ocasión y los dueños muy amables??”
“When I visited Blick Art Materials, I immediately felt a welcoming and creative atmosphere.
The staff members were incredibly friendly and encouraging, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
You can really feel that they appreciate artists and enjoy helping people find the right materials for their projects.
It’s always nice when an art store has this kind of positive energy.
The selection of materials is truly impressive. Whether you are a beginner starting a new hobby or a professional artist working on serious projects, you can find almost everything here.
There are endless choices of paints, brushes, sketchbooks, canvases, markers, and many other tools for creative work.
I especially enjoyed walking through the aisles and discovering so many different materials for painting, drawing, illustration, mixed media, and craft projects. It’s the kind of place where ideas start forming just by looking around.
What makes this location even more interesting is the building itself.
The store is located in a historic building from 1934 that was designed by the well-known Chicago architectural firm Graham, Anderson, Probst & White.
This firm also designed major Chicago landmarks such as the Civic Opera Building and the famous Merchandise Mart, so it’s fascinating to see their work in a smaller but very distinctive building like this.
Before becoming an art supply store,
this building was home to the historic Old Heidelberg Restaurant, a well-known German restaurant that operated here for many years.
The character of that era is still visible today in the building’s unique façade.
One of the most charming features is the beautiful glockenspiel clock above the entrance.
Behind the small wooden doors above the clock is a statue of King Gambrinus, a legendary European figure often known as the “king of beer.”
The statue was created in 1934 by Chicago artist Edgar Miller, adding an artistic and cultural layer to the building’s history.
Seeing this detail makes the storefront feel almost like a hidden piece of Chicago history.
As someone who studied painting, visiting this store was especially inspiring.
Having access to so many art materials inside a building that already has such artistic history makes the experience even more meaningful.
If you are in Chicago and working on any creative project, this is definitely a place worth visiting.”
“amazing staff! everyone was really helpful.
It's worth coming to this location because they have discounts that you won't find at other locations.”
“Love midwest airbrush! I've been ordering from them for....4 years? The prices are amazing and there are frequent deals on top of that. If I have a question, all i have to do is call and they can steer me in the direction of what will suit me best. Service is fast and the staff is knowledgeable...I can't ask for more than that!”
“Visited yesterday to get something framed. The person who typically does the framing wasn't there. There was however a most helpful associate! She makes me believe in customer service again!”
“CCRX is a hidden gem- hard to believe considering its size! All kinds of things for educators, artists, creatives, parents, etc. Well organized with a helpful staff. You have to visit to understand!!”
