Arlo Chicago is in a perfect location for visitors to the city. It was a pleasure to walk out of the hotel and have so much within easy walking distance, including Millennium Park and AIC. The room is comfortable and even has a Nespresso machine for those needing some caffeine. I was excited to book this hotel due to it advertising that they used Frette sheets, which are known to be a high-end brand of Italian bed linen. Imagine my disappointment when I discover none of the sheets or robes during my 5-night stay were Frette. In fact, the bed linens were pretty low-quality for such a nice hotel. Other than that, my stay was great. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Be mindful that even though the FAQ on their website states that the $20 per night urban fee includes a $15 daily FOOD & BEVERAGE credit per room (without listing any exclusions or other info), the credit is only good for food (not beverage) at DINNER. It doesn’t include anything for breakfast or lunch or just having a drink at the bar. Because of this, I will never stay here again even though the rest of the stay was fine.I suggested to the front desk that they make this more clear on their website, but I’m sure it won’t get forwarded on.

Amazing hotel in a great location. Rooms are clean and have a modern look

At first glance, the hotel looks very stylish and modern. Unfortunately, this only applies to the general rooms. The rooms are dated and worn out. The carpeting is ugly and the garbage can is a plastic bucket. The room cleaning could also be better. All rooms with two queen-size beds look directly onto the building next door and are very dark. King rooms are located on upper floors overlooking Michigan Avenue. Sometimes it's very loud in the evening because would-be racing drivers have to prove themselves on this street. The location is positive, right next to the Millennium Park and Riverwalk. Many things are within walking distance.

Great location, nice clean and comfortable hotel. Would have given 5 stars, but they charge you an “Urban Fee” of $30 per night, and that was not disclosed until you are standing at the counter checking in.

Great location, staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the room was perfect for what we needed. We were so grateful for the umbrella in the closet as it rained each night we were in town! You’re walking distance from the park, bean, river walk, and tons of awesome restaurants! My only negative was the restaurant located inside the hotel. The food was crazy overpriced for the portion size/quality and we didn’t have the same excellent experience we received from the front desk/ house keeping staff.
Walkability: I loved how close this hotel was to the big Chicago sites! We enjoyed the park, river walk, many local restaurants and bars, and museums! 7-15 min from most of the tourist attractions.

Nice boutique hotel for good rates

The Arlo hotel is a convenient and comfortable place to stay while exploring the city or conducting business. However, it may not meet the expectations of travelers seeking a luxurious experience with extensive amenities. One notable challenge is accessing the hotel by car, as it can be difficult to find a convenient drop-off point for luggage. Nevertheless, the hotel has partnered with a nearby parking garage (20 E. Randolph Street) offering a discounted rate. Alternatively, the parking garage at 60 E Lake St (Rolls Royce parking garage) is a 3-minute walk away, while the garage at 233-111 Lower Beaubien CT is a 4-minute walk away and provides a more secure and clean environment.
The hotel's location is ideal, situated directly across from Millennium Park and within walking distance to the river walk and Michigan Ave. Upgrading to a Millennium Park view room offers a pleasant perspective, and the room itself is small but has everything you need. While the bed could be more comfortable, the water pressure is adequate, and the staff provides friendly service. One notable issue is the shower floor, which appears to move and cause noise, a problem that seems to affect multiple rooms. Additionally, the hotel's toiletries could be improved in terms of quality. The room's floor would benefit from hardwood or laminate instead of carpet, which can become stained and worn. Outside noise can be heard more clearly due to the hotel's location between multiple buildings, causing sounds to bounce off. Despite some minor disturbances, including a broken elevator, the staff provided access to the service elevator, alleviating congestion.
Overall, the Arlo hotel provides a good stay and easy access to Chicago's attractions, with a convenient location and friendly staff. While it may lack some luxurious amenities, it is a decent choice for travelers seeking a comfortable place to rest and recharge.

Lost a mini lady Dior purse at this hotel. Staff not helpful. I came in 7/4 and checked out 7/5. I came back that evening when I had bought a scarf for my purse and noticed it was missing from my backpack. Staff said housekeeping had left for the evening and had no access to keys. Told me to call back in the morning. I got home and it wasn’t home nor in the car. I brought my purse to the hotel and did not use it on 7/4 so it had been in my hotel room the entire time. My partner said he had not noticed it when packing my stuff up. Hotel said they would contact me to follow up. They never contacted me first. I have continuously called them and they said they never saw it. It makes me question if my partner had not seen it when we were leaving had someone come into our room. They keep saying housekeeping and security have not seen it. It is not a tiny item. I have emailed their front office manager and no response. I have to keep calling to get some kind of answer. Seems like every time I call it’s I’ll check on it and let them get back to you. They have never contacted me personally about this issue. There are also multiple reviews of assumptions of stealing by housekeeping. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt however they do not seem to care about this issue. It’s not like I’m out a couple hundred dollars it’s a six thousand dollar purse.

Location is a very good walking location! Close to so much. There was a place to drop off luggage in the back of the hotel. The parking garage was not too far either. For 3 nights was $80. Which was cheaper. However there was a “resort fee”. Nothing part of the hotel felt like a resort. Rooms were nice and clean. Our room viewed the back of the hotel which was another building. We booked through a third party company so it advised something different. The beds were comfortable. However the door to go into the bathroom does not lock or closed right. But other than that it was fine. Google chrome cast was a nice feature for a movie night. Hairdryer, fridge, robes, luggage holder were included. No microwave. The rooms were disrupted by noises from the outside alleyway. Many trucks go through. The main entrance had a SUPER strong cologne smell. It was not pleasant at all. Our entire parry had to hold our breath while walking in the main entrance. The hotel was safe feeling though. Had to use the card to enter hotel past a certain time. There was a restaurant in the hotel. We did not use but was something helpful incase. Workers friendly and helpful.

Warning to business travelers - this hotel's folios do not include itemized dining costs and if your company requires itemization, they will tell you that they can't locate your dining receipts upon request. I was forced to personally expense several in room meals following a 5 day long stay on my corporate card. I will be recommending this hotel be removed from our corporate booking portal. They are not cut out for for corporate travel relationships.

Rooms: Tall ceilings and everything is set up in such an efficient and modern way.
Nearby activities: It's Chicago... There is something to do everywhere :)
Safety: Need a room key just to access the building
Walkability: Chicago public transportation is easily the best in the country. No problem walking and quick train/bus ride away.
Food & drinks: Giordano's deep dish is a must. There are also 3 cafés across the street. The hotel also has a steakhouse inside with plenty of drink options available

The best thing about the Arlo is the location -- it's walkable to many tourists spots, the riverfront, restaurants, bars, etc.
The room was spacious for being in a city center, not huge but plenty of space for one or two people. Very comfortable bed, good water pressure, good climate control. It could've been cleaner -- I found a crushed fortune cookie under the mattress, some of the appliances were dusty, and the carpet was dingy.
I'm going to echo what a lot of others have said, the customer service is really bad. We were woken up at 7am on a Saturday by a very loud noise in the alley (we were on the 8th floor.) After about 30 mins, we went downstairs to find out what was happening and learned it was an annual, city-mandated test of the power, and that it would last until at least 8:30am. We let the front desk know we were upset to that we spent a lot of money on a hotel room and were not able to sleep past 7am on a Saturday. We were told that a manager would be alerted to the situation and they took our room number. We never heard back and nothing was mentioned when we checked out.
I understand that a city-mandated power check isn't something the hotel can control, but it is likely they knew it was happening ahead of time. I would've appreciated knowing in advance and being given the option to cancel my reservation. Or at the very least, some type of acknowledgment from the hotel that it happened and was an inconvenience to their guests.
Lastly, the mandatory daily urban fee can only be used on dinner. Other hotels will let you use it for any meal or just for drinks at the bar, so this felt unnecessarily limiting.
