A pretty place with great security, neat public spaces, and really cool corner apartments.

Be careful!!!!!! You will get charged after you move out for damage that you didn't cause. For example, they provide a TV on a TV stand. They charged us for the fading of the wood where the TV was once they moved it after my son moved out. The TV stand was never moved in the apartment, the TV was never used, and the TV was never moved yet it's our fault that the sun faded the furniture (highly doubtful that it did that in the 3 months staying in the apartment). In addition we got charged for a stain on the couch that was maybe the size of a penny? It wasn't visible when we checked the apartment when moving out but suddenly appeared when my son moved out.
Did we take photos before moving in, yes, a video but it didn't show the issues and unfortunately I didn't keep it for several months. Plus we had to move in during a parade going on down the street. It was stressful carting my son's stuff 4 blocks due to street closures (yet Arc would not change their move in time to before the noon parade...). We had driven 10 hours to get him to Chicago so it wasn't like we could just "wait at home".
Also, they have security but I wouldn't want a daughter staying here due to the amount of people hanging around outside (the Arc is near a prison). Luckily my son didn't have an issues but he will not be returning.

Lived here for one summer. Other reviews have detailed other problems which I shared, but my major problem was the front desk staff.
The one time I forgot my fob and was stuck outside the door (where the front desk person clearly saw me), they simply kept sitting and went back to their phone and left me locked out until another tenant was coming inside. Note I had only been gone for 2 minutes (picking up something outside), and they clearly saw me leave, so they knew I was a tenant.
Worse, they have an odd policy where you and any guests you bring must give the front desk your ID's for the duration of their time there. My girlfriend traveled an hour to come visit and happened to only have her college ID on her, and the front desk person refused to let her in at all. Further, they acted apathetic and downright mean, even though I was speaking politely, not raising my voice, or doing anything to illicit that kind of response.
Some of the front desk staff were actually very nice and kind, but in my experience it unfortunately wasn't the majority. Hope this helps anyone thinking of renting here!

BEWARE OF APPLICATION SCAM
Before we called them, we asked what rooms were available and for how long. They said the room we wanted was available all summer. The leasing application said the same thing.
After filling out the form, they charged us 100 dollars, and then called us a few hours later saying that the room was NOT available for the time they promised.
It seems like other reviewers also fell for the same scam. Do not attempt to lease here. They will blatantly lie to you and take your money
Edit for the owner:
The expectation is that if everything is taken up, you don’t advertise it as available in the website, and at the very least you would refund the application fee.

Literally a scam. They tell you they have apartments available, get you to pay the 100 dollar application fee, then flip. Steer clear at all costs. Tons of better options in the neighborhood.
EDIT BASED ON OWNER RESPONSE: Quote from your leasing agent when I called "We will 100% be able to place you in a 3 bed". Your response is not true. You want to help, refund the money and stop taking advantage of students.

My friend and I also fell for the same scam as another reviewer. When I applied, they listed units on their website that are not available anymore and still charged a non-refundable $100.

I like how big the apartment is. The only thing I don't like is the window into the shared bedroom and the fact that there's no lighting installed in the bedrooms.

This is a great place to live! I love the amenities and the spacious room! And subway is right downstairs, how much better can it get?

i have very mixed feelings about living here. i enjoy having 24/7 security, and a nice space on the rooftop, but that is about all i can praise here.the elevators SUCK, only two of them work and are old as hell. i got stuck in an elevator for nearly an hour and any other time i try to use the elevator you have to wait at least 5-10 minutes. the security and management are only nice to residents half the time. the apartments always have something wrong with them.my apartment (for 5 ppl) was supposed to have kitchen table or counter with chairs in the living space. it did not. how do you expect 5 people to cook with two small squares of countertop, or eat with no table? i cant even begin to explain how frustrating it is to have to buy your own table and chairs for an apartment that was supposed to come with it.the apartments also do not have overhead lighting. they provide one floor lamp per person. so if you have two people in one room, you’ll get two floor lamps in your room. there is no lighting in the living area of the apartment, so plan accordingly.the toilet was also broken when i moved in, only one lamp in my room worked, there were mysterious stains on the floor, broken appliances, and holes in walls/doors.luckily the A/C works very well.when living here you also become very aware of the train. it is convenient when you’re riding the train, but it is incredibly annoying when you’re trying to sleep and all you hear is “doors closing” every 10 minutes. there are also always tons of people at Pritzker Park at all hours of the day. they are incredibly loud and it is frustrating to be unable to focus or sleep when you hear people yelling all the time.there really isn’t much good i can say about this place besides that it has some kind of charm that i enjoy. overall, i have very mixed feelings.

My move in process at the Arc went seamlessly and I accredit most of that to Gwen at the Management Office. As an international student that would be arriving to Chicago by plane, I was unable to fill a car full of my heavy furniture/packages. I tried to time them perfectly and sent them to the Arc through Amazon. While still out of the country, some arrived way earlier than anticipated but was alleviated to see it was signed by the Management Office. On my move in day, I was greeted by her with a smile and scanned the room to see packages neatly organized by name. The following days I experienced that continued professionalism and was even greeted by name. Thanks Gwen!

The only positive thing I can say about the Arc is the modern design of the dorms. Everything else is not great. The layout of the apartment makes no sense. The Arc has more cabinet room for smaller apartments, while the bigger SIX PERSON SHARED APARTMENT has very limited space for a SIX PERSON shared apartment. There's barely any cooking space. Literally only one person at a time cooks because there's not enough space even when there's one person cooking. Another thing about the six person dorm, is the layout of the bathrooms.... I feel as if all bathrooms should be accessible to all roommates so we can split the share evenly and also use the bathroom when we really need to if the other one is occupied. But the Arc decided to have one other bathroom in a shared room.... So four people share one and two share the other.... Moving onto the elevators..... ALWAYS BROKEN!!! printers....ALWAYS DOWN!!! Location....alright just try to sleep at night when the train keeps passing by...NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT ALL!!!

The place is very seedy and looks much nicer on the there website. Then after overpaying for rent, they charge everyone 71.00 dollars when you leave saying you damage something. They said I soiled the mattress, it was so seedy-looking I went to target and purchased a mattress bag before I would sleep on it. So how could I have soiled it? Spend more time looking there are nicer places for less money. Definitely would not recommend Arc. They are taking advantage of the students.
