We’ve had maybe 3 good experiences and 3 bad experiences with this clinic. Decided it was time to make a change and send a review after the last experience. It really depends on who you get working with you - front desk, techs, and vets. The most recent visit was terrible and worth acknowledging since management didn’t seem to care to handle it directly. We’ve found this group to be very quick to be about “business” and their daily operations versus the animal and owners well being. We have a dog that’s very anxious about going to the vet, which of course is common, and have had more than one occasion being pushed to put her to sleep for routine exams. This seems asinine since they are a “certified fear free clinic” yet push for drugs and don’t take time to work with you. Last visit involved an immediate decision to drug her versus working with her and the parents to make it work. Apparently “fear free” means they throw peanut butter on the floor so that certification doesn’t seem like much to achieve. Both the techs and the vet were condescending. The only name I’ll throw out there is “Jo” because she was probably one of the worst techs I’ve encountered and I hope no one experiences that as a dog owner. How she works with animals is beyond me. She’s mad at the world. Ask for someone else if you choose to go here. Dr. Solomon was great and we never had a bad experience with her but 1) we didn’t have her every time and 2) until she gets the rest of the team on board, we’ll take our business elsewhere. You’re only as good as your worst team member. Overall, we gave this place enough tries cuz it’s close to our home but we’ll be making a drive to another clinic for a better experience. Very dissappointed in the visit and the response from the team.Adding to my review following the owner’s response.Dr. Solomon, allow me to clarify some details of our experience as you seem to be more interested in saving face on Google than calling your customers directly. The primary reason for our bad experience was your staff. When we made an appt for a routine physical, we were told to come an hour early so that our dog could be sedated. My wife told your office that “we MAY not have to sedate her because we’ve been working on anxiety behavior with a trainer for several weeks. We’d prefer to make a decision based on how the visit goes.” Your office told us that’s fine and to still come an hour early. When I arrived I was brought back to a room, answered a few questions and was then told that she’d be sedated. I said there must be miscommunication because we’d like to see how she does without the drugs. The tech scoffed and left the room, returned to tell me to come back in an hour when the vet gets there. I left and returned in one hour. This time I was taken back with another tech, Jo. Jo was extremely rude and condescending in her communication with me. She did not acknowledge my dog at all, did not introduce herself, and then proceeded to fire off questions in a manner as if she was annoyed that I was there. She was clearly in a bad mood or at least not pleased to be working with me and my dog. I, again, asked that we try the exam FIRST before administering a sedative. She left and brought the vet in. The vet arrived, didn’t introduce herself, didn’t acknowledge my dog, but immediately went into a lecture about how our dog should be sedated because she was resistive last time she was there (when she had an ear infection). After additional lecturing from the vet, I decided to leave as I was already worked up about the poor customer service and the anxiety that had further built up, which my dog could surely feel.Point is, your team did a poor job of communicating and making the dog/owner comfortable. Not one employee acknowledged my dog, pet her, or gave her treats. I would strongly suggest you sit down with your team and review customer service skills and better communication. Fear-free STARTS with your people. You, nor your practice manager seem to care to address that.

I am very happy with the attention and care given to my cat, Samantha, at Animal Medical Center of Chicago.

My 2 cats have been seeing the veterinarians at Animal Medical Center since they were kittens and were adopted more than 16 years ago. The entire staff is wonderful and friendly and has provided my cats (and me) with excellent care over the years. Friends and family who I have referred to AMC have been similarly pleased, even where diagnoses had been previously elusive for their beloved pets. I recommend AMC to friends and contacts alike and will continue to do so because of the excellent care that they provide!

EDIT: the noise continues as of 1/4/24, and BEWARE this business does NOT respond to BBB inquiries and yes I will be taking further action.Funny how their hours of operation say that they are closed, but they have an employee taking out trash loudly every night at 11:30 pm or later for 15-20 minutes then I have to deal with similar noise 7 hours later with people arriving in a side door feet away from my bedroom window. I have an email of them stating none of this would reoccur months ago. Once, they called me at 10 pm forcibly asking me to take out recycling that night that I mistakenly put there. I have repeatedly emailed and called and was even told in writing no one worked there after 9 pm. My other neighbors are complaining as well and it continues. I was told no one would use the side door after hours but Mr 11:30 pm dude disagrees. Throughout the day they bang doors loudly and have people loitering outside even though the pandemic restrictions are lifting. They repeatedly have tried to silence me. I have a colleague who says they refused to see her dog.If you want to operate right next to where people live, you can at least be decent about it.If humans are bothered this much, it must be bothering the animals as well.UPDATE they’ve gotten even louder at 11:30 pm since my initial review. Guess I made them angry!

This place is the most amazing vet I have ever been too. Since we got our French Bulldog 5 years ago, it is the only place we trust to take care of our little girl. I was recommend by a former colleague and I couldn’t be more thankful. Dr England especially is one of a kind. He is the most caring, thoughtful, compassionate vets I could ever have asked for. Having a Frenchie comes with its ups and downs and Dr England has been with us every step of the way. We do not trust anyone else with our baby and he has gone above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and taken care of. (Not to mention answer ALL of my crazy dog parent questions with a smile). Thank you Animal Medical Center for everything you do! We love you guys!!

This has been our vet for two dogs now, and we just love them. Very caring and they work hard to make it a good experience for the dogs. They are also great about integrating my kids in appts, answering their questions, etc. We love Dr. Simpson but everyone here is wonderful!

I've had a great experience with everyone at Animal Medical. They truly care about the animals and are not pushy when it comes to treatment. They discuss the facts and give advice, but make sure pet parents know that they have to be comfortable with the treatment

Animal Medical Center is exactly the fear free veterinary clinic we were looking for. Unfortunately our shelter dog is pretty shy and had a bad experience at another vet that made him extremely anxious to return to any vet offices. Dr Simpson and the staff came up with a great plan to make sure his visits are comfortable and safe for everyone. Thanks to Animal Medical Center for making sure he lives a happy and healthy life!

Dr Donna Solomon is amazing!! We just switched Veterinarians as I wasn't overly thrilled with the place we were going. I adopted my pup at age 2-1/2 and though best to keep with his current vet.I am so glad we switched to Dr Solomon, she was incredibly thorough and listened to my concerns about various little things about my boy. Items I had repeatedly asked his old vet about, and they more or less brushed them off ...Finally, we have an incredibly thorough Veterinarian.I highly recommend Animal Medical Center! They do have 4 parking spots behind the building, but good luck finding an open spot. In fact don't bother, park across the street in front of St Bonaventure.

You seriously cannot find better care and compassion for your furbabies. The vets and staff really care about their patients and always call to check up on them. They even crammed my baby in when they and no openings for an emergency, and the doctor spent over an hour with us. Truly is the best care in Chicago.

I think this place is top notch. I have a reactive dog that's fairly anxious and they accommodate this really well, clearing the hallways and doorways and scheduling us early in the morning. They make scheduling easy, and are always very prompt with email responses. Since my dog is on behavioral meds this was super helpful and I really feel that Dr. Ogishi really cares about my dog's progress. I really appreciate it!It is pricier than other vets we've seen in Chicago but I think that this is worth it because we do need specialized accommodations, but if my dog was 'normal' it might be frustrating.

We have been going here with all of your dogs since they opened. I know that we get the best treatment here and that they follow up with our visits with our specialists (if we have one) and will always find an answer to our medical needs even if it is not at our appt. We love AMC!!!!!
