It's very dated and needs a major overhaul. It is small and nothing much to see but bunch of astronomy antiques. The exhibits are short and uninspiring. The articles are lengthy and boring. Since they can not include dinosaurs, they should incorporate pop cultures of star trek and star wars. They literally had 1 picture of the mars rovers near the staircase. The exhibits need to be interactive and incorporate more modern technology to inspire kids and adults. It needs star maps, zodiac, and more diverse culture of astrology such as the Mayans, Chinese, and the Persians. They should have future astrology exhibits. I understand they have limited space but they should have at least some telescopes to watch the skies. Overall, kids will find this great place to hang out, adults not so much.

Arguably the worst member website in the city. Paid $260 for a starpass and want tickets? 40 minutes on the website and you’ll be crying in frustration… and you’ll still have neither an idea if there are any shows available nor tickets. Oh, and I have top level memberships for the field museum, the Shedd aquarium, and the Museum of science and industry — so I have a reasonable basis for comparison.

While the exhibits were interesting, I was expecting more to see/do. We went with the specific intention of seeing the Pink Floyd sky show, but went early to experience the exhibits. We were done with 30-40 minutes to wait on the show. The cafe closed early so we were left to just sit outside the theater and wait. The show was decent, but underwhelming and overpriced in my opinion. The music was phenomenal, but the show was subpar. The chairs are not comfortable and do not recline much so you are left having to look around to see everything. The museum was overly warm as well. Parking is $25!!! So for about two hours of experience, it cost over $100 for two of us. I likely won't return. Once you've seen it, it's not really worth seeing again.

Not very well set up. Mostly posters on the wall and some videos playing. Not much hands on or even physical models. And why push the woke propaganda like women empowerment, what does that have to do with a planetarium? Avoid this place and all the hassle.

Illinois residents have free entry on Wednesdays, so I highly recommend getting your tickets online (all you really need is your address) and you can get your free tickets and visit! It's a really beautiful place, super educational and fun for kids of all ages! Especially great for building kids' interest in the Sciences early on! I still have amazing childhood memories of visiting and coming back as an adult was such a sweet and memorable throwback!

We don't plan to come back. Show was 20 mins. They would not let me in after I parked because my wife had my QR code and they had no cell connection. My daughter got light headed from the show. The museum was about planets, of course, and not bad. The other part was about telescope and sundials. Nice view of city.

Had a blast at the Adler Planetarium! Originally went for skyline pics but got hooked on the cosmic stuff. The view from the terrace is unreal! Even if space isn't your thing, it's a cool spot. Perfect mix of city views and out-of-this-world wonders. Totally recommend!

Nice planetarium!! I really loved all the artifacts from previous space missions as well as interesting nuggets of info and interactive materials about our planets, asteroids and solar system. But please tack on a show if you decide to go, the base ticket experience is rather small and, although worth the price, I definitely feel it could've used a little extra punch. If/when given the chance to return I'm definitely going to get a ticket to experience something in the theater as I feel this would probably satisfy the gap. Also strangely enough I feel like there is a lack of merchandise in the gift shop I was interested in. Could definitely use more magnets and pins! Overall, a nice visit, but wishing for a bit more.

Good place - although I skipped out on the planetarium show but next time I go there I’ll make sure to purchase that ticket

The Adler Planetarium serves as a truly remarkable wedding venue from a photographer's perspective. Its asymmetrical room offers a unique and enchanting setting for ceremonies and receptions, blending modern sophistication with celestial charm. What truly sets it apart is the mesmerizing view of the Chicago skyline, especially at sunset when the city lights come to life, providing a stunning backdrop for capturing unforgettable moments. The professional and accommodating staff ensure that events run seamlessly, which is crucial for photographers. Overall, the Adler Planetarium consistently delivers breathtaking images and cherished memories, making it an ideal choice for couples seeking a wedding venue that combines elegance, celestial beauty, and an unbeatable skyline view. I would absolutely love the opportunity to shoot there again. IG: LaurenAshleyStudios

Overcrowded. It was like a Greyhound bus station ??♀️ it would probably be less crowded had I gone on a different night. I went on the "family night" or whatever... They call Wednesdays. My daughter did enjoy the art project but it's very stressful for me to be in such a crowded place with my little girl. Also I think it could have been much cooler with a guide. Everyone in the planetarium was lost and confused as to where they should go. The gift shop is was an awesome surprise. Good selection of very nice souvenirs for all ages.

Small but beautiful planetarium, you don't have to see it but the view of Chicago is worth visiting!

Everything regarding the solar system and current explorations is impressive. I came out wondering and imagining worlds beyond. However, the history portion (which is significant in this museum and embedded in the shows) is very poorly thought out. It implies that science and planet observation started with Galileo! It completely ignores the wealth of work done by Persians and Mayan — work that gave Galileo a huge leg up — for example. If I was the museum curator, I would either rework the entire history portion, or just get rid of it.
