0 stars, 0/10 would not recommend. TL;DR: If you do not have enough crew to cover when one of your employees has a family emergency, you DO NOT have enough crew. You are messing with people's lives here.
I received a confirmation call the day before my move telling me they would be there between 8am and 10am. Great! I had been packing my house for weeks, and even stayed up until three in the morning the night before the move making sure we had things ready to go. Four hours of sleep is terrible, but at least I would not have to do all the heavy lifting myself! Right? WRONG.
At 8:15am the day of the move, I receive a call telling me they will not be able to move me that day due to a crew leader having an emergency the night before. There was not even an apology, no "I'm sorry", no offer to move me the following day, no offer for the owner to step in and cover the shift of their employee. This was Saturday, and the earliest they could move me was Tuesday. EVERYTHING IN MY HOUSE WAS PACKED AND READY TO GO. I had the internet being shut off at the old place that Monday (I work from home) and being installed at the new place the day of the move. I had other maintenance people scheduled that afternoon. Because I thought I would def be available in the afternoon if we had movers coming in the morning. I was supposed to have all day Sunday to relax and unpack my house to get ready for the week to begin. BUT NO, WE JUST HAD TO RENT A UHAUL AND DO IT OURSELVES over two days of backbreaking work. I luckily had three saints of friends come help us, or I don't know if we could have even done it.
Thanks for nothing, Mayberry. If you do not have enough crew to cover when one of your employees has a family emergency, you DO NOT have enough crew. You are messing with people's lives here.

Not professional. One of the movers complained about lifting due to his back. I felt bad for him but he was in the wrong profession and was complaining most of the time. Sorry I have stairs but sometimes you will encounter stairs if you are a mover. When we booked the appointment they knew there were stairs. Carbondale, Illinois

Had a great experience with the moving company. I was concerned as a I saw some poor reviews from 2021. This was not my experience. I moved out a whole house full of furniture. I received a call the morning of the move. They showed up on-time and with a large truck which had more than enough room. Dorian and Marcus were the two movers and they were very productive, friendly, and professional. They wrapped all of the items in blankets and were diligent to make sure nothing got scratched. Dorian proposed a storage solutions for me that saved me a lot of money. Brittany is the office accountant and Cindy is the moving specialist. All good hardworking people. Good experience all the way around. I'd highly recommend them for any local moves.

Beware. If you live outside of the Carbondale area, this company will grossly overcharge you for "drive time" They charged us 4 hours for a 1.5 hour drive. They admitted we had a reservation for 2 men but they sent 3 and expected us to pay for 3. One of the guys spent more time asking us if we would give him items that we told them not to pack because we were selling them than he did working. One of the worst things was the handling of our items. When they had to take legs off couches or screws out of things, they threw them down in the uhaul floor instead of putting them in a particular place. Our grandfather clock was broken, legs torn off tables, big screen TV broken, so much more.We provided them with a cooler full of drinks and they made sure to take the remaining 12 with them when they left and threw their trash all over the yard.

Our movers were wonderful. They paid attention to our needs and worked like a cooperative team. I would recommend them to anyone who needs help with their move!

Movers showed up on time. I was impressed with how quickly they loaded the truck. I had a local move after selling my home and brought our belongings to a storage warehouse. We had heavy items that I was concerned about like our piano. They were well equipped to handle all items in our home. They even brought a fourth person to move. It was a smooth experience which was much appreciated during a stressful moving time.

The girl who answers the phone is half rude half the time, but I'll give her a pass this time because I get it: anything customer service related is a terrible job in this current cultural climate- the company should probably just give her a higher base pay and she'd likely be a dream (especially considering the $150+ per hour, 4 hour minimum requirement). The original appointment was missed due to miscommunication between the team and the service desk so I had to wait another day to complete a highly stressful move. However, in the end, it's the 3 gentlemen who came and completed my move with such consideration and care that saved the day for me, they should also definitely get a raise (or those guys need to start their own company). I didn't have to worry about a single thing and they took great care making sure everything was exactly how and what I needed. 6 stars for those gentlemen, 4 for the company overall.

The same problem that I read about from the first reviewer. Promised to move me between 8-10 AM and they called at 8:30 to tell me they might get to me this evening. Their crew is taking more time to do a move from yesterday because another customer didn't pack as they said they would. So because someone else didn't do what they said, I suffer the consequences. Shame on me for hiring them after I read the previous reviewer's critique. Beware! Let my mistake be a good guide to you. Don't hire them.

Do not ever use this business. They promised to move my family's property to another state, and made promise after promise to give them an estimate by certain dates and failed to meet all of them. The owner and staff were out of town on Memorial Day weekend, which is the start of the summer moving peak, and left the office in the care of an employee named Josh. He was the one who kept promising that Mayberry could move our stuff during our requested timeline. The owner returned and quickly informed them that they were fully booked already and Josh had no authority to make these promise. The owner did not fire him and did nothing to assist us afterward. I think Josh was going to attempt to move our stuff single handed and pocket the money himself. Who knows if our stuff would've ever shown up at its destination. What a nightmare experience. We had to scramble to find an alternative with little time left before our move date.

The crew showed up on time, loaded my home quickly into their truck and moved our family about 13 miles. The crew leader said, "We got you.!" And they did. Nothing broken, everything placed in the room it was destined for. A+ job. A+ people. Could not be happier!

I had used Mayberry Movers a few years ago with few issues other than a large print canvas was missing. After calling and letting them know the print was missing, they called back 3 MONTHS later saying the picture was found and I needed to come pick it up or it would be thrown out. I felt the item should have been delivered to my home since it was at the fault of the company, so I cut my losses and never picked it up.This weekend I hired Mayberry again and had an even worse experience. The movers were scheduled for 11 and did not show up until 3. When they showed up at 3, they did not have a truck although I had requested one. At 4, they returned with a truck, loaded my large items and items I had packed and took them to my new home. All of this included the dis- and reassemble of my bed. While unpacking, I bumped into the bed and the slats under my mattress fell to the floor. I contacted Josh, one of the movers, and told him about the incident in which he apologized and said he would come back and fix it. Hours passed, Josh did not reply to my most recent texts about fixing the bed and I am unable to sleep in my bed because the slats will not stay on. Would not recommend & will not be using them if I move again in the future.

Horrible experience we’ve had moving. We used this company at the end of Mach 2021. The pack out was awful. More than 6 guys walking through the house no uniforms, no foot protection & not provided with the proper equipment they didn’t have a big enough truck to load our stuff. Now here we are with the unpack and surprise surprise so many items are missing included are all of our TVs, the craftsman toolbox, shovels gardening supplies. And I’m sure much more to follow. Do not use this company.

They left us high and dry on our closing day. After we called them, we got two different stories:"the truck broke down" and " my workers walked off. Absolutely no notice just refused to show up and answer phone calls. The manager said it isn't his problem and to deal with it. YOU ARE BETTER OFF TO HIRE SOME NEIGHBORS AND RENT A U-HAUL!
