I recently learned of and joined Angelic Organics as a shareholder. I absolutely love the delicious vegetables, pickup is easy, and the messages from Farmer John are fantastic. Getting my box is a highlight for my week. I have loved cooking with garlic scapes, celeriac, fennel, chard, anise hyssop...and making carrot top pesto! : ) With food as fresh and delicious as this, the possibilities are endless. So very appreciative of Farmer John, farm, and the whole team. Thank you...and Bravo!

Summer wouldn't be summer without Angelic Organics!Every spring, I start dreaming of the arugula. And then in about mid-June, we start receiving huge boxes of gorgeous vegetables. The carrots are so flavorful that my kids will no longer eat grocery store baby carrots. The greens are so good that we eat salads every day. The broccoli is so tasty that my kids ask "can you make that veggie curry again?"It's also a great value. I still visit my local farmers market each week for fruit and eggs, but buying all the veggies through a CSA is cheaper. And it's so easy. Each week, you receive an email inviting you to customize your box. Don't want kale? Replace it with extra carrots, radishes, or whatever else is plentiful that week. Going on vacation? Skip that week's box and double up on a different week when you're hosting a BBQ and require a dozen ears of corn. Small family? Get on the every other week plan rather than weekly. Hosting Thanksgiving dinner? Purchase the four week post-season subscription, and end up with tons of squash for your feast. We've been doing Angelic Organics for over ten years now and it is invaluable. THANK YOU Farmer John, Haidy and the team. We are grateful.

1st year member and just got our 1st box. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality AND quantity of fresh produce we received! I've roasted beets and kohlrabi for a wonderful salad, I've baked a chicken with garlic scapes and fresh sage, I've made fresh arugula salads and used fresh green lettuces on sandwiches all in the last 4 days. Sooooo excited to see what we get in our next box! Super Pleased!!

Angelic Organics is a great place to visit and become a co-op member of! We get delicious veggies bi-weekly and their new system of picking your veggies makes it really easy to get what you want. My only regret is not getting to the farm more often to volunteer.

I'm so glad I subscribed this year. It's so fun to get a box of fresh veggies and herbs vs store-bought. So far I haven't had any issues with quality of the produce. My only problem is that it's a lot of produce! Luckily, it's not fattening. Lol. I also like knowing what I'm getting so I know what to buy from the store to fill the gaps. Customer support has been wonderful when I had a question and I like that they prefer to use email over phone calls. It's good to have documentation on both sides if there's any issues.

We were unimpressed with our share. We did enjoy the fruit portion from the Fruit Guys, though.

Iffy produce at best. We paid $800 for biweekly boxes of muddy lettuce, wilted greens, and produce that was laughable compared to their organic counterparts grown in our own inner-city backyard. Boxes were often very late with zero communication. We did also get biweekly fruit from the fruit guys included - this was mostly great, that’s what the stars are for.Edit: Jim Bryla’s review is spot on for what we experienced as well.

Farmer John and his crew are phenomenal stewards of the soil and the sky. They produce the MOST delicious vegetables in northern Illinois without a doubt. Just sign up for a farmshare already.

I understand the difficulty of raising organic farm fresh food every week. However, I don't understand the profuse praise from other shareholders that our farm shares receive each week. Frankly, we have been very disappointed with the quality and variety of produce that we have received this year. Here is a summary of some issues from this week's share: two spaghetti squash one of which had some type disease/soft spots, one each very small green tomato and pepper, a head of broccoli that was mostly all stem with very small buds, arugula that was rather wilted, and carrots with rather odd looking red stem bases. The brussels sprouts tops were ok (would prefer actual brussels sprouts) if that appeals to people. The potatoes were probably ok but looked a little odd and came extremely dirty (I don't expect perfectly clean veggies but a basic rinse would be nice). In general we have received huge quantities of certain rather obscure veggies like mizuna and cucumbers while not getting a variety to prepare interesting dishes. How does one utilize two huge bags of mizuna in a given week? For the season the tomatoes were very disappointing as well as just a couple of token green peppers and zucchini. Other more traditional items such as green beans were completely missing. On a positive note we did find the melons earlier in the season were excellent and when we did receive lettuce greens they were very good.Lastly, the focus on selling additional summer shares (because the crop was so good?) as well as a fall share while we were receiving huge bags of mizuna with little else is disappointing. We will not be renewing our membership for next year.

This summer I decided to test two different companies: Angelic Organics and Misfits Market. This is my first time ordering both from a CSA and from Misfits Market. I pay 40 dollars for a share of vegetables and an additional 40 dollars for a share of fruit every two weeks. With Misfits market the price is a bit cheaper about $35 for a little over 20 pounds of fruits and vegetables each week.At Angelic Organics, The fruit that they is an add on for 40 bucks comes from the FRUITGUYS and seems to be high end organic well packaged and presented. The vegetables are also a good quality, and they are somewhat customizable for increased prices. If you want to switch something that you don't like, Angelic Organics charges you extra to switch out an item for something else. This week when I tried to cancel some sweet corn and add some kale, the website uncharges you 4.00 for every kale option added. So if I decided to cancel my 6 pieces of sweetcorn and add the kale my bill would go from $40 to $52 just for switching out the 6 pieces of sweetcorn for 3 bunches of kale??? In order to receive my food, I drive about 10 minutes to a local residence where I park my car and pick up my fruits and vegetables from the side of the house, where they are in two plastic sheds. Then I unpack them, recycle the box they came in turn around and drive home. All in all it takes an extra 20-30 minutes for the round trip.I'm also receiving weekly deliveries to my home from Misfits Market. The price is cheaper, the food is customizable without any additional charges. And they also have a great selection of add ons if you would like to order some additional organic products at good prices. Once a week you customize your order and order what you want. It's great. It's also great that they deliver to my door and I save a half hour of travel to and from the CSA pickup location. Although we are only about halfway through the season, I believe we will continue with Misfits Market. I think they source additional fruits and veggies from as close as they can throughout the winter from North and South America. It seems that next year, we will do two weekly deliveries from Misfits Market and scrap the CSA with Angelic Organics based on costs, convenience, and quantity. The quality of the fruits and vegetables received is very close between the two companies. Angelic Organics gets a slight edge in quality. Misfits Market has been better noticeably in convenience, price, customizability without up-charges and food quantity.I plan to post again at the seasons end to share how things went for the entire season. I will also include photos.
