“My husband and I were engaged for years and we looked at dozens of venues but we never quite connected to any place until we walked into the Nineteenth Century Club. Located in lovely Oak Park, it is directly across from a beautiful piece of land called Austin Gardens - a PERFECT location for outdoor photos.On October 8th 2022, we hosted 250+ people and you would never know it was one of the largest events the Club has hosted. Everything ran smoothly and our guests had an amazing time.Filled with antique charm but with all the modern conveniences you can ask for, we knew immediately that this was the place. We worked almost exclusively with Woody who is just phenomenal at his job. At the time of our wedding he was both the coordinator AND the chef. As a coordinator he is thorough, honest, and incredibly accommodating. He has dozens of “preferred vendors” that know this venue inside and out. As a chef - let’s just say we STILL get compliments on the food which is saying a lot as we had a Sicilian/Filipino wedding - two cultures where food is KING. It was delicious! Our experience with Woody was a blessing - so much so we consider him a friend to this day!PLEASE DO NOT PASS THIS PLACE UP. Take a tour. Meet with Woody. I promise you will not regret it.”

“I haven't visited this park in over five years. We hiked for two hours. My friend Andrea led the hike. It was very peaceful and clean. They even have a black- owned smoothie bar at the entrance of the stairs. I will definitely visit again.”
“I had lunch with a friend who was new to Indian cuisine. Our waiter took the time to give us the background of the restaurant and explain multiple dishes, noting the difference in flavors and spices, and giving recommendations. He was so patient and kind, and you could tell he genuinely cared. We loved all of the dishes we ordered. The short-rib special was so delicious and huge! The lamp chops were also out of this world. Will definitely return!Dietary restrictions: All meat was halal except the chicken. Check with server or call ahead.”
“Lake Katherine is amazing. My wife and I take our son for walks over there. You can walk around and view nature. They have a monarch butterfly exhibit that's open in the spring/summer that kids will absolutely love. You can go canoeing in the lake and watch the swans which would be a perfect date with that special someone if you're into that kind of things also with amazing views of wildlife, wild plants, a community garden hidden away in the back that people plant and grow veggies and plants for the local pantry. They have a small book library you can borrow from but please take one, give one if you can. Lake Katherine has a great experience and I'm sure anyone would love it..”

“Regardless of a few negatives (an hour wait for a lane and lots of food items were unavailable). It was a GREAT time!The counter clerk was helpful in getting us the best deal for our games. The cashier/ server was gracious and helpful in working on getting us a drink/ food deal based on available product.They were both knowledgeable and helpful!Some of the best service I've had in a long time.Also had lots of issues with our lane/pins/ball return and they switched us as soon as possible. ☺We also got 100 arcade credits for only $30 and that lasted the almost hour wait for a lane and then a good 20 minutes after we were done bowling!Games are 1-5 credits (not bad! My favorite, skeeball was only 1 credit! )And there were lots of cool prizes too!I got a purple teddy bear with a lime green bowlero shirt for only 1000 tickets! (His name is Benny ?)About $200 spent on a family of 4 and that included unlimited bowling- (we played 3 games), 6 long Island ice teas, appetizer/ beer special and 100 arcade credits!My 11 & 4 yr old boys had so much fun- but I think my partner and I had MORE fun! ♥TOTALLY WORTH IT!10/10I would go back again and recommend to everyone!Great service. They also sell booze you can bring home with you, so if you're only wanting to grab just one obligatory drink with friends then maybe a sixer to bring home to share with your partner or self or friends, whatever - they've got you covered! They have outdoor spots as well and the music is right up our alley, so there's really nothing negative I could come up with.”

“We visited here as it was on the Frank Lloyd Wright map, and although he wasn't the architect, we were still interested to see the work of one of his contemporaries. We were greeted by Theresa, who took us on a tour of the whole house which lasted around an hour and a half. Theresa was so lovely and it was an absolute pleasure to meet and be guided by her. She was so knowledgeable about the house and the families who had lived there, and my partner and I walked away feeling like we had learned so much. The house itself is full of surprises and interesting quirks, and Theresa did a brilliant job of bringing it to life for us. We absolutely loved our time there, but also feel sad that a house of such historical importance isn't receiving the funding needed to fully restore it. I really recommend taking this tour, as not only will you enjoy learning about this amazing house, you will also be helping to preserve its place in history.”

“We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Carlisle in November of 2023. As most people, we looked at multiple venues to select the best one for our special day. After visiting several locations, we went to The Carlisle and from the moment we entered we knew this was the one. The Carlisle is very elegant with a lot of mirrors and crystal chandeliers and after meeting with the event planner we were sold. Laura Papa was welcoming, professional and explained everything clearly. She answered all our questions with great detail and made suggestions, but never tried to upsell us. We had found the perfect place for our wedding! Every time we met with Laura, we became more sure that the Carlisle was superior to all other venues. My husband to be, wanted the evening to be magical for me and magical it was! Laura and the staff at the Carlisle were phenomenal. They listened to what we wanted and delivered beyond our expectations. We highly recommend The Carlisle to anyone looking for an elegant, well-run establishment to host any event. There are many venues to choose from in the Chicagoland area ,but if you are looking for a perfect experience, The Carlisle is the best choice hands down.”
“That Girl + Co is amazing! We rented the space for a baby shower, and it was absolutely beautiful. We barely had to worry about what to decor to bring, because the space is already perfect. What we did bring with us (coffee bar, balloon arch, buffet) the owner and an employee helped us set everything up in time for our guests. 10/10 recommend!”

“Looking for something new we thought we’d try Front Row for carry-out burgers on Sat. With the expectation that it was likely we’d be disappointed. We are very picky eaters and have been looking for a GOOD burger in or around Homer Glen. We both had the build your own burger along with Parmesan Garlic fries and hot wings. We were told 20 minutes max and the order was ready when my wife arrived. Very pleasant male took and brought out our burgers. BOTH BURGERS WERE ORDERED AS “medium” as we had little faith that we get anything other than a well done burger. We were happily surprised to find that they were a good sized 1/2 Lb. cheddar, grilled onions and mushroom burgers with Chipotle mayo The garlic butter Parmesan fries were excellent too but I would ask for a little extra garlic butter on them. The hot wings were a complete disappointment. They appeared to be reconstituted from yesterday, were overcooked and very tough. If that’s an indication of “normal” then I would pass until more attention is given to this popular offering. I will stop by and discuss our experience with the owner soon cause you don’t know what you don’t know and Front Row is deserving of a little effort on my part to keep it open and improve the wings as well as to provide some VERY POSITIVE FEEDBACK on the burgers!They were simply OUTSTANDING! Best burger we’ve had in a long time! For comparison purposes we used to be regulars at the Country House (until their burgers went to hell (smaller, different type/blend of ground meat). Not the same as it was when it opened. Anyway, we stopped going there several years ago. Our other safe place was Claim Jumpers in Oakbrook. Another very reliable burger place.In short I wanted to go back the next day but decided on a planned attack instead where one of us would order a burger and the other one of the very tempting sandwiches they offer every time we go as a method of broadening our ordering options in the future.In short, if you have a taste for a burger, stop reading and just go! I will add more info as we test more entrees etc. ENJOY!”

“I was transitioning my daughter from another gym and was hopeful that BIG would be a good fit. We've only been here a short time but they have been incredibly warm and inviting. From the front desk staff to the coaches, students and other parents. My daughter was so excited to be welcomed by the other girls. The coaches are engaging. The athletes seem to be incredibly supportive of one another, cheering each other along when new skills are gained. It's so heartwarming to see. Additional perks include a great website that is easy to navigate and staff that communicates readily and clearly. We hope to be a part of the BIG family for years to come.”
