If communication is a problem (which it is) then hire someone who specifically calls back your customers and actually goes over the visit. Could take weeks to hear something back.

The staff at BGAH are incredibly kind, but unfortunately their communication skills are lacking. We’ve had several issues with miscommunications in the past, but the incident in particular that’s led me to leave this review is as follows:
Three weeks ago, we brought our terrier in for a sudden limp that was causing her a noticeable amount of pain. A quick examination ruled out any breaks or fractures, and so an x-ray was done to investigate potential problems within the knee. Everything went smoothly, and we were told that we would hear back in 1-2 business days with the results.
Three weeks and $600 later, we have still not received any news.
We have called asking about the results on three seperate occasions now. The first two calls we were told by the vet tech that a vet would call us back by the end of the following day. We were ghosted both times. On the third phone call, we explained our situation to the vet tech and she put us on hold to go speak with the vet we had our initial appointment with. We were told he was in with a patient, but would call us immediately after within the next thirty minutes— and if he were unable to do so, another vet would call in his stead.
It’s been three days since then and still no word from BGAH.
We’ve gone to BGAH for years. I said goodbye to my childhood dog here. The staff has never been anything but professional and kind to us and our pets, but as previously mentioned, this is not the first time we’ve dealt with issues regarding their communication.
This entire experience has just been wildly disappointing — nobody should have to hound their vet’s office for nearly a month to get results that had a two day turnaround.

After seeing the post from two days ago, I felt it necessary to also warn others about the lack of communication from Buffalo Grove Animal Hospital which was provided as a complaint to the AAHA in hopes no one else has to experience this. We rescued our dog on May 8th and our first visit to Buffalo Grove Animal Hospital was Friday May 10th. Follow-up call from Dr. Schaele on fecal sample Monday May 20th – 10 days after the visit. Other vets we have used follow up typically one business day later, two at the most. Said results show nothing definitive, but could possibly have giardia, advised we monitor and retest in a month. Second visit was Friday June 7th. Follow-up fecal test and behavioral assessment visit for treating stress & anxiety. Dr. Schaele acknowledged he didn’t have the expertise to treat behavioral issues, but would research and provide some information on medications and referrals for a veterinary behavior specialist by Monday June 10th. Before we left, confirmed that the fecal test results should take no more than 24-48 hours so we should hear from them Saturday June 8th or Monday June 10th at the latest. No communication or follow-up on Monday June 10th. My wife called at 9:36AM on Wednesday June 12th to follow-up talked to Ezzy & Tiffany, who left a message for Dr. Schaele. Wife called again at 9:17AM on Friday June 14th for a 2nd follow-up, talked to Nicole, who left another message with Dr. Schaele. Nicole said only a doctor or vet tech could provide lab results. Expressed disappointment in the service/lack of communication. I called at 4:50PM on Friday June 14th and left a message as no one answered even though hospital is open until 5pm. Wife called at 10:30AM on Saturday June 15th talked to Nicole again, who was also frustrated Dr. Schaele had not returned our call. Expressed our disappointment in the lack of communication and said they were not meeting our expectations, particularly as new clients. Charged back the $180 invoice at 4:30pm on Saturday June 15th due to lack of service/communication/follow-through. Monday June 17th at 10:30AM Nicole called my wife and said Dr. Schaele was in surgery this AM, but promised he would call me in the PM. Still no communication from Dr Schaele as of today, 6/20. The new vet we went to confirmed the day after taking the fecal sample our dog had giardia and got her on medication.

PLEASE READ REVIEW
The Dr and Vet Techs here are terrible and I mean TERRIBLE at communicating and remembering the gender of my cat - even with the file in front of them... who's been there for years. So many times I had to correct the Dr that my cat is a male.
The last visit for my cat's eye problem was the last straw. I went to pick up my cat, waited over 15 minutes to pay. I asked for the vet to explain to me what he had found to be the cause for my cat's vision change and he never came out to talk to me. After at least 3 outreaches from my wife with only a response from the office manager - who was as helpful as she could be, we decided to switch vets. And guess what, it took another 3 weeks for the Dr to actually remember to call me and left me a voicemail saying he was calling to discuss the visit....
Thankfully my cat had nothing serious going on. Had he had a serious health problem, I have no confidence they would let me know asap. We switched vets who are great at calling us back about results and actually remember my cats gender.

I started taking my 14-year-old Doberman/German Shepherd to Buffalo Grove animal Hospital a few years ago. She's had a few fairly serious age related issues lately. I couldn't have been more pleased than I was with the Care and follow up provided by each of the vets and vet tech at Buffalo Grove animal Hospital. They have been phenomenal, and so much better than the previous Vet I had used that unfortunately went downhill with staffing, quality and care.
