I actually hate the brand because of their “salvage policies” when someone runs into you. It is cheaper to do that than to fix the damage. Bottom line is they get to steal your car legally and leave you with no transportation. Sad, very sad. I guess they did a good job funding a PAC to get that law passed. Not to mention that department comes off a hateful and rude.

Typical insurance company. I used to proudly tell people I had State Farm, but at some point they quit caring, so I quit paying them.

Roof Hail/Storm claim - Buyer beware, State Farm wants to take customer’s money but do not want pay back when time for a claim. We are 30-year state farm customers, always pay on time, and never had a claim. Recently we had multiple storms, and this was the first time we had a claim for roof replacement. We know we had multiple hailstorms and our roof is leaking. State Farm came out after numerous calls, and the State Farm adjuster could not go on roof because it was too steep for him. State Farm sent their contractor "Seek Now" to take photos of the damage and clearly identified hail "Hits" in multiple test areas. The adjuster claimed it was a blistering and not hail by looking at the photos! We were denied the claim.
We provided additional video evidence to prove it was not blistering since the “hit” goes through the shingle. The second State Farm adjuster came after a month, but could not go on the steep damaged part of the roof. The State Farm adjuster claimed that we had damage, but first said it was blistering, then it was old age, and made more excuses, and that it was not hail and refused to accept their own contractor report and have denied our claim again. Our neighbor's claim was accepted by State Farm and his roof was replaced even with an older roof than ours. We live 15 ft away so know it was hail damage. State Farm already made up their mind to deny our claim and did not want to accept proof, but rather one excuse after another.
We called the adjuster’s manager (Andy Huff) and he did not even know about our claim until we called him even though the local adjusters told us they consulted him. He told us he had to look at the photos and evidence for the first time when we called. He hung up on us and we are now going to call his manager (Kellie Lagatta). Our next step will be to get a public adjuster and sue them. This is a short version, it is like pulling teeth and we need to keep after them. State Farm do not deliver or keep their promises.
Update: 10/24 - tried to escalate up to regional manager (Kellie Lagatta) and she had one of her people Ben Spunkel call us back and refused to do anything and told us Kellie would NOT call us back or talk to us. I asked Ben about his role and he said he was a peer manager, but maybe works for her, which is it? We feel we have a right to talk to anyone and he cannot dictate who we speak to in their org. He talked on top of us, was rude and said "that's not going to happen, she will not talk to you"!
Update: 10/28 - State Farm refuses to call us back or accept the fact that they made mistake and that we had hail damage, as evidenced by THEIR CONSTRACTORS. Sent email to CEO help mailbox, no answer either, sent follow-up email.
Update 11/8/24
State Farm sent us a very threatening copy extract of our contract stating that if we did not comply to your "duties after loss", we would not be allowed to sue them! We have had constant correspondence with them and have been waiting on them for months. Now they want to send their MSA contracted engineer to look at our roof. How can we trust them? We asked to record the conversation with the manager, and he hung up on us.

My car is a part of a claim with statefarm. I live in Hawaii. My claim specialist is in Arizona, take car prices from California for a claim in Maui, where we just had wildfires take out most of the car inventory on island. Causing the vehicles to be more expensive than on the mainland. I just paid $13,000 for the car and they totaled it and want to give me $9,000 for my car. They have ignored my emails and phone calls for 6 days now. I spent 7 hours trying to contact anyone today and the hold music section kept dropping my call after 30-50 mins waiting. Called 16 times today and I am still without a vehicle or a rental because of the claim specialists inability to do their job properly. I live in Hawaii which means a big time difference so if I don't wake up at 4 am to start calling my specialist, I won't get to speak to that person for another days time. If you sell insurance to people in Hawaii, you should have people who are able to work Hawaii hours so we get the same care as your mainland clients. Very disappointed in this company after many years of good service. Im now looking for another insurance company after this post!

Terrible customer service, especially in the claim’s department. They won’t cover replacing a battery that was working fine before the accident, and they took a couple weeks to even get the car to the body shop after multiple calls from me to get them to do their job. Battery either doesn’t work due to the accident or sitting in State Farm’s lot for a long period. I guess State Farm considers it a coincidence that the battery died at the same time as the accident. Worked perfectly fine before.

This agency keeps changing their prices! Without warning or anything and I have been enrolled for auto pay for ever since being with the agency. For some reason they did not draft the October payment and now want me to pay this large amount of money !! Well it’s not my problem they didn’t have it set up correctly. Looking for a cheaper alternative. It’s supposed to be a family plan with 3 adults. We qualify for a big discount. That is if they can get their crap together and stop screwing around!! Really don’t care for this company at all!!!!

Poor support from State Farm when an under-insured motorist hit our vehicle and 2 others. Ridiculous rates for collision / comp on an older vehicle. I moved on to another company.

I was involved in an "at fault" accident on 6/26. No one was injured however my vehicle was declared a total loss.
State Farm paid for my rental from 6/26-7/15 however, 7 days is not enough time to find a replacement vehicle.
I recently upgraded to the 100 day, 3000 max rental car coverage expecting SF to allow myself time to search for a vehicle and not make an immediate decision. The condensed story is SF assessed the wrong part of my vehicle and failed to provide documentation supporting their claim of a total loss, i.e. "Take our word for it" from the adjuster.
I've gotten in contact with the local insurance commission on this matter. The local State Farm branch is refusing to turn over the information requested and the adjuster is not answering my calls.
These people are absolute sleazes.

What happened to the saying Like a Good neighbor Statefarm is there. I had a claims agent Samantha call me and every time I talked she would type on her keyboard so loud. She made it clear that she didn’t want to listen, definitely was getting tired at her job and more importantly failed the simple ask of having some empathy. I mean Statefarm, can’t you guys just be good humans instead. When describing that I wanted OEM parts and giving an analogy, she said it didn’t matter and said it’s just a plastic piece. If OEM and aftermarket parts are all plastic and the same, why doesn’t Statefarm cover both.

I have a homeowner's claim and cannot get anyone at State Farm to discuss the process with me, or advise me on the claim. What they all want to do is tell me to go to the website or the app!
I contacted my local agent for assistance (Billy Reese) and was told that essentially all they do is sell you insurance and skim money off of your premiums.
Finally, State Farm does NOT want you to contact their corporate office! The phone number routes you back to the local agent, that can do nothing for you.
What an awful company!

State farm is not the company they used to be. We have been fighting for a year to get the roof fixed on our house. While fighting with them we had another storm come and do more damage. Instead of state farm fixing the problem they charged us two deductibles. If they would have fixed the roof in the first place when it happened the second incident would have never happened! State farm is now fighting with us on payment to the contractor. DO NOT USE STATE FARM! They are a rip off! They are all about money! If this is how you treat a neighbor I dont want any!! They are so inept! We are going to be getting a lawyer

Local family here near StateFarm, horrible customer service from the Agent in Peoria and the home office. Been dealing with a overcharged billing for 2 years now. Have it in writing from home office for a refund and never has happend, just excuses after excuses and failed promises. Seeing 100s of 1 star reviews here on Google tells us we are not the only ones here to express

After being a State Farm customer for almost 30 years and insuring multiple cars and homes, I unfortunately recommend NO ONE use them for their insurance. We had hail damage. Had two roofing professionals tell us we had it. SF said they didn't agree. Two months later we had a limb fall from a tree during a storm and put a hole in our roof. They said the hole wasn't consistent with what wind and a tree limb would have done. Out of the 5 homes in our culdesac, 3 were given a new roof because of the same hail damage. Those three were not with State Farm. Two were denied. Both of those homes were insured by State Farm. Do NOT trust them with your insurance.
