They are so dam helpful in my times of need. Hell I even met my wife of 27 years at the salvation army in Chicago the 509 branch.

I have visited the salvation army a few times for various reasons. I can not speak on the shelter portion, but on the community side they have been very helpful. They have a food pantry that gives you a good amount of food when you need help. They also have various programs throughout the year to meet needs in the community. Their facilities have been clean and staff is friendly.

This place needs to be closed they are not properly serving the community they caused for me to be arrested and extradited to another county I been released they're holding my belongings talking about they can't deliver it they're incompetence is hindering my family and me from moving forward I have filed complaints with the Governor office and other agencies because I have never heard of safe passage clearance for temporary shelter and they don't want to take responsibility for their incompetence I don't advise or suggest that facility to anyone cause their intentions truly are not to actually help the community but make it harder for black people which discrimination from my stand point

Unfortunately this Salvation Army is not able to take used items any longer - except for specific purposes for those they serve. Call before bringing used items.
