Customer service is very careful with your identity and your money. You can feel safe banking with Heartland. Small town feel with state of the art safety measures in place.

They used to be worth it. Lots of functionality for an individual with an account. Now they act like they're JP Morgan. If you're not a business entity, they don't have the time for you. Absolutely zero customer service - they don't even have a phone number, just a national help line you sit on hold with. They don't deal in coins - don't bring coins here - you have to lose 30% at a coinstar. Tried to shut down my checking account - document everything if you do. 3 attempts to close - 2 in-person and once by phone. I was ensured twice that it was already closed - then received a statement the next month and had to go back a 4th time to close the account with a manager. HBT is a big bank for big business - at least that's what they support. I get great support when coming on behalf of my business but left for JP Morgan Chase years ago and never looked back. It's exceptionally hard to get to your money after you've given it to HBT.

There are no benefits to building a relationship with Heartland Bank. The automotive rates are laughable, and it looks like many people have had a bad experience with their mortgage team. In addition, if you end up having a problem in regard to your money - or god forbid anything regarding their credit reporting practices - good luck. Their customer service is also terrible.If they aren't competitive with automotive rates or mortgages, AND if they have bad customer service when there's a problem, it makes no sense to use them as a bank. It is absolutely no benefit to you as a consumer.

Website is terrible and they don’t take payments over the phone. Was told I could go into local branch which does not work when you are out of state.

Had an awful experience with their mortgage team. Communication was poor throughout and they didn't return my phone calls which lead to missing out on the rates we were looking for. I would not recommend them.

Horrible to work with, We went through Lincoln land credit union for our Mortgage and were unfortunate enough to have this bank as the underwriter for our loan after taking almost 8 months to process everything we were constantly waiting on them we finally get everything signed. Around February 15th we still had not received anything from this bank including an invoice, payment book nothing so by the 20th we call and sit on hold for 45 minutes we finally give up and try a few more times over the next few days we were never able to get ahold of any one till March 1st which was our payment due date after talking with them they acknowledged the issue and said if we brought our payment in to the credit union we had worked with they would make sure to back date and post the payment for that day, now on March 22nd we recieve our invoice for April along with a past due notice for March, these people are an absolute joke.

I do not recommend this bank at all I was set up with text alert and it never told me I was overdraft now they put me in collections.There’s no communication whatsoever with this bank I just do t understand them . Now they’re telling me that I owe money not my ratings went downWith my credit score. I will never go to the bank ever again!

I would not recommend Heartland Bank and Trust to anyone. I set up my account at the Newark branch and I’ve had it for a month or so, and someone came to the downtown Bloomington branch, forged my signature, and took over $200 from my account. I’ve gotten my money back and closed my account, but the bank is playing it off as an accident. Personally, I wouldn’t trust my money at this bank.

I have nothing but issues with this bank. Multiple times I've had problems with fraud on my card. Accessing the mobile app is a freaking nightmare. I go in to get a new card and the machines/systems are always down. The hours of operation make it a struggle for most to make it through after work as well. Just all around need improvement in basic business structure.

If you live in Bloomington heartland Bank is the worst bank to join. I opened a bank account a couple months ago and was explained overdraft protection/fees. I decided I wanted heartland to authorize transactions even if it means my account being overdrafted. So I get a call from them in January asking when I'll be able to make a payment to put my account in the positive I said I'm not sure at that point I just got back from maternity leave. Cori (the representative) I spoke to said I would have 60 days to make a payment or else my account would close. I understood. So then I get a call couple weeks later about me making a payment by Friday or else my account would close for good. But I asked her even if I don't get my account into the positive on time, will I still be able to pay off the debt and open another account? I was told YES. okay now move forward to today about an hour ago. I went up to the teller (she's new I guess but that's no excuse) cuz I told the girl look I'm going to pay off my debt (I showed her the letter). WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO OPEN ANOTHER ACCOUNT TODAY? Mind you I had more than $500 on me I'm not trying to carry that around out here. She said yes. Okay cool guess she didn't know how to pay a charge off so she got her manager. They waited for me to give them the money for the charge up to tell me you can't ever open up another account. So let me get this straight -you all WAITED until you got the money in your hands to tell me that s**** I was going to pay it off anyways whether I was able to open up a new account or not cuz A it's the right thing to do and more importantly B I don't need another bad mark on my credit report. But the fact that they did that on purpose instead of being honest pissed me off. Not trying to play the race card but I'm gonna play it. YUP THEY PROBABLY DID THAT BECAUSE IM BLACK! that's fine I'll take my business elsewhere.

I went to your location today to open a checking account as I am going to be living in Illinois for six months because I am a Michigan resident I was told I cannot open a checking account at your branch thumbs down
