Very frustrated with Bortell Animal Hospital called to schedule appointment for new kitten to find out that new policy is that visit must be paid for in advance based on what they think cost will be two weeks in advance for a sick kitten. Have taken our pets there for 5 years, always paid our bill in full at every visit. Greatly respect and appreciate Dr Bortell but will no longer be utilizing service there with this new policy.

Christy in the office of Dr bortel's is very disrespectful and is a liar told Dr Bortel that I have reported that my dog was injured after two laser treatments and I did not say that when I had called for help I had called telling them that she was in pain and I was concerned about what to give her for her pain and the way she was acting after the laser treatment I was very concerned with she lied to Dr Bortel because he was not in there and told him that I said that they had hurt my dog twice and lied about everything saying I did no call no shows covid had attacked Dr Bortel so they had called and canceled with me he was out for a week week and a half with covid the other times my brother had been in and out he has cancer and had been in and out of Saint Francis Hospital and in Chicago hospital had to have major surgery to save his life he has Crohn's disease and this girl did nothing but complain to me that I had did call no call no shows I was not allowed to get any help from them unless I paid $88 for a vet visit and for treatment medication for pain I said what am I to do while she's in pain at this moment I need help what should I do she would not let me talk to Dr Bartel I was not allowed to get a return phone call from Dr Bartel he left it up to this girl Christy which was very disrespectful hung up laughing on me and said Doctor no longer accepted my dog in there for laser treatment I said that they had injured her well if I had injured her don't you they had injured her don't you think I would be suing them I'm very disappointed and I'm going to contact the Better Business Bureau for the rudeness the disrespect and the immaturity of this young lady Christie that is in that office hopefully none of you deal with what I did sincerely disappointed in his office and I had been going to the Funks Grove doctor which is an older gentleman and he had sent me there they're the only place that does laser treatment for injured animals in this area so I'm very disappointed that they did not want to help my dog treat my dog talk to me about it or anything disappointed Mrs Smith

Great service to family pets when we were growing up- and to my dogs now as an adult! Always friendly and helpful. Responded well to Covid and made it as easy and safe as possible for staff and pet owners to keep coming for care!

Love them All. Dr Heiden is wonderful!! Super nice and you can tell they love the animals!! And their prices are so much better than other vets my friend use.

I have been taking my animals to Bortell Animal Hospital for several years. I am very thankful for the excellent care the Dr’s and Staff have given to each of my animals. They are always positive and provide great customer service. My Sheltie absolutely loves going to see Dr. Heiden for his chiropractic treatments. I highly recommend Bortell Animal Hospital.

Such sweet caring people working here. You can tell they really love animals and what they do. I live in TN but got my sweet babies, Charles and Eddie, in Iowa and my mom lives and Bloomington so I have taken both babies to their first wellness visits here. I wish this was their primary vet. COVID and Pre COVID I am confident that this is the best animal hospital in Bloomington :)

Great vet to take your pets to! I've been bringing my boxer ever since she was a puppy, the staff is really friendly and inviting. They do a great job of informing you of what needs to be done to your pet, as well as giving a price range so you can know what to expect for the shots, medications, etc for your pet. Would definitely recommend this vet to others!

Dr. Bortell and Dr. Heiden work with Chinese herbal medications which have been very helpful to three of our pets. This practice also does acupuncture. The staff is kind and helpful and I receive prompt responses to my questions and concerns. I have gone here for 20 years with five dogs over that time and never have I received other than excellent care.

The staff and doctors are very accommodating. They have taken great care of our dogs for many years and some of them have had significant medical issues. Dr. Bortell and Dr. Heiden have treated my dog with Chinese herbal medicines which have been very effective. This practice also offers chiropractic and acupuncture. We would never go anywhere else. The staff is loving and caring and honest about costs.
