Called in to set an appointment as a potential new client with my 4 businesses and the person answering the phone was short with asking if I was referred by anyone and when I said no they responded that they are not taking new clients. Don't call if you are looking for an accountant and you are not referred by anyone. Apparently that's the only way they will take you on as a client.

My wife and I decided to use a tax professional this year, as our financial lives had gotten more complicated than in the past, with running a dog rescue, mortgage refinancing, job changes, and a new car. After a recommendation from a trusted friend who has been using Don and Accountax for many years, I decided to set up an appointment. Don is exactly what you'd want from someone doing your taxes. He knows his stuff in and out and takes the pressure off with his friendly but confident demeanor. I actually enjoyed the tax process this year, and came out owing quite a bit less than TurboTax said. He also found some extra savings from our previous year's taxes, which outpaced sevenfold his fee for amending a tax return. And in early March, his turnaround was about 2 days from the time we gave him the last piece of information he needed. I will be back in 2017.
