I went in to ask some questions & left with a membership lol. Maritza gave me a lot of useful info; newcomer Jackie gave me a tour & signed me up. They had a Valentine’s Day deal going on so I saved some money. The first time I went in to workout, they had a cart full of bags filled with sweet potatoes. Turns out that was leftover food from their Community Market event for seniors that they have 2x/month. You better believe I took home some sweet potatoes lol.

Joined this gym for a few months so me and my daughter would have a safe place to workout. Pros: -Nice track where you can run/walk/jog -Teens can workout alone if they complete the orientation -Very family friendly environment Cons: -Machines are very old and a lot don't work. For ex. all of the water bottle holders on the ellipticals are broken, leg machine Velcro strap doesn't work, etc -Parents don't respect not allowing kids (young kids after daycare closes) in the cardio room and it doesn't seem safe them running around in there -Kids classes end at age 14 but all of the workout classes for adults start at 16+. My daughter is 15 and I don't want to keep asking for exceptions.. -Cost is too high for what the facility offers Overall I think this place is best for families or parents with young children. Just was not for me! Also no one ever asked why I wanted to cancel they just cancelled my membership (easy process btw which I appreciated). You'd think a place would want feedback to improve in the future possibly, but nope.

Worst Ymca I have been to. Cluster jam in the weight room, feels like someone’s breathing down my neck in there. First Y where they don’t provide basketballs? Ok… what am I paying for here. Scam ymca

The customer service could use some improvement. They charged my card even after I canceled my membership 12 days prior to the billing date (first of the month).

The lockers leading to the swimming pool lacks privacy for minors, especially young kids. My child felt very uncomfortable when an adult kept on waving and staring while changing in the open locker room area. All showers and bathroom were occupied and my child had no choice but to change in front of many adults during day camp. This did not seem to matter to the staff. This facility needs remodeling and prioritize our kids privacy!!!!

Absolutely terrible experience for my 14 year old kid who was just trying to do something in the gym.Worker told him he was to young to be in the cardio room even though I was with him don't recommend this place if ur kid is trying to workout or do anything.

I signed up for the weight room and it's worth the price. Yeah, you could pay $25 at charter or blink, but good luck trying to get a set in at peak hours. Although this place can get busy sometimes, the people that go there are more than happy to work in or let you know when they're wrapping up. I've been to a few gyms in the area and this one is by far the most welcoming and easy to lift in. The equipment is decent, two squat racks, two barbells, mirrors, and a roomy machine section. If you plan on using the pool, track, or basketball court, then it's definitely worth it. Can be a little musty with broken equipment sometimes but it's a community run thing, can't really complain that much.Unfortunately, there's this weird guy that claims to be a trainer that's there sometimes. Wears sunglasses and shirts a few sizes too small... likes to stare at women. Will walk around and bark orders at people despite nobody in the weight room having any issues. If you don't comply, he'll bring up an actual staff member to make you do what he wants. Nothing to ruin a workout though, just a tad bit annoying.

Definitely could be better, but still deserves 5 stars because the YMCA offers parking, affordable prices and an unusually spacious gym. Though the building may need some reparations, I think the YMCA is overall a great gym. Been going here for the past decade and have never found any place in the Chicago area that has an affordable membership to an indoor pool.

I am new to the Berwyn community and recently joined the YMCA in Berwyn. I started going every day for a 45-minute swim. Unfortunately, I recently felt discriminated against at this location. Every time I scan my ID to the card to go in, the front desk staff asks for my covid vaccination card. I provided a copy when registering for the membership. I have not had good service here. I am questioned every day about my vaccine card. When I provide them a copy, they say it got uploaded in the wrong file. I became disappointed when other members are not questioned but when it came to me, I was questioned and the staff was loud and angry for some reason. I don't understand why there is no proper training given to staff so that they know how to use a computer to upload important documents from their members. The staff working at the front desk was unprofessional and rude. The information passed to members is not concrete. In addition, the staff is not trained which can cause an issue for a member.

Expensive and equipment is out of date. Very unsanitary and some members do not even wear their masks properly, masks aren't enforced. Check the basketball courts those kids never wear masks.

Great place to work out. Yes machines are old and out dated but still work. Maintenance crew is great very friendly always clean the girls do an excellent job. (Except for the creepy Male maintenance person he stares at you while working out and smells nasty and sweaty.) But I love the environment and friendly staff.
