“What a creative and friendly space. I dropped off my coffin Art piece for the 10th Annual Beautiful Souls show. Had a lovely conversation with Executive Director Teresa. I can't wait for the opening, Oct 13th, to meet the other artists. I highly recommend stopping by!”

651 W Lake St, Chicago“What a gem!! I wandered in here unexpectedly yesterday and was so delighted. They’ve got an incredible selection of books and I loved browsing the store. So many $5 books! My problem is that my backpack was full already so I’ll be back today prepared to purchase ?”
“Magnificent bookstore!! So many new and classic mysteries. Augie, the owner, is so helpful. And, so many special events with authors! Have enjoyed for many, many years. ❤️❤️❤️”
“Very big selection of books and divided into themes, classics, new releases, etc. Very fun to explore! And perfect place to spend on a chill weekend afternoon. The basement area has books on travel, science, languages, religion, gardening, etc. My favorite was the “arts” selections & even bought a book there. Staff was very kind too!”
“Incredible place. Proud to call it my local bookstore. Excellent breadth of genres and topics available, including a thrilling grab-bag back table where I've found some true gems. Xylon and the rest of the team are always welcoming, making me feel right at home. Even if I can't find the book I'm looking for, they will order it for me directly through the distributor, eschewing Amazon and their industry-harming loss-leader book sales policy. Recommend Open Books to any Chicagoan or visitor looking for an engaging read.”
“Wonderful collection of horror films (with the best little write-ups accompanying some titles), a great queer horror book section, and great music and vinyl collection too! Staff is always great too”
“This is the 3rd place I’ve been looking for and the closest thing I have found to my nostalgic 90’s comic book store I grew up with. A place where staff- get this actually interact with you. It’s refreshing- they have great stock, the name is badass, & the vibes are great.I love that the first time I was in the store and Wes Anderson’s, Fantastic Mr Fox was playing and the quote “But In The End, He's Just Another Dead Rat In A Garbage Pail Behind A Chinese Restaurant." was muttered in the background. I chuckled and contained on to enjoying every moment I was in there. Keep it up guys!”
“This is such a great idea. You can have a drink and browse their stack. It's very cool with a variety of books. Also, they are open to bringing in new authors, too. Definitely, another cool local Chicago bookstore.”
“So cute!! Great book options for adults and an adorable little book book for kids in the back - the kids section has some area for kids to sit and look through books before picking out their favorite one(s) to buy :D Highly recommend!”

2142 W Roscoe St, Chicago“We love this neighborhood bookstore. The selection is amazing and they'll order whatever they don't have in stock if you ask. They're the best, support your local bookstores!”
“Loved the selection, especially the sections highlighting Palestine and Arab Heritage Month in April. The space was larger than I was expecting, the store goes in quite deep. There were a lot of people in the store on the Saturday that I visited, which was great to see. Will be back!!”
“Phenomenal used bookstore. I love a place that looks like it goes on forever and this one has that old school, disheveled vibe. However, everything here is beautifully organized by genre and author/subject so it’s easy to find whatever you’re looking for. These days I’m always hunting for 40s/50s sci-fi paperbacks and Myopic had just about the biggest selection I’ve seen in recent years. Grabbed myself five cool titles in great shape for about $22. They had an impressive selection of art books as well and music books (the other types of books I usually hunt down) so I’ll be back when I’ve got more time to dig into those sections.”

905 W 19th St, Chicago“Super cool spot. Upon arriving, I had no clue where the entrance was. It was only when people came out of the building that I realized that was the entrance. Once inside, I was left in awe of the magnitude of the place. A huge old warehouse transformed into a book “store”? Absolutely amazing. REMEMBER, you put the price in the books, not the other way around. When I was here, the cashier tried to give me a price when it shouldn't be like that. Don't feel intimidated and pay whatever you think is fair. There’s also a Spanish section right by the entrance.”
9AM - 9PM
1045 Lake St, Oak Park“I made an online order for a couple books to be delivered to a friend in Oak Park for her baby shower. The staff packaged the shipment as a gift, kept me updated with emails on the status, and they even ended up shipping the books even earlier than I expected. It was a really smooth process and they were so kind and helpful in each email interaction. I will be recommending the Book Table to my friend as a her go-to bookstore in Oak Park if it isn’t already.”
“Absolutely incredible collection of the bizarre and underground. Independent publishers and books and magazines you won't find anywhere else. One of the greatest bookstores in the world.”
“I found this gem while driving by yesterday and had to check it out! I was met with such helpful and welcoming service plus a great selection of church history, commentaries, theology/doctrine and more! I can’t wait to come back and hang out there a little longer. ?”
“Without a doubt, my favorite book store in the city. Their inventory is somewhat limited because of their small footprint, but it is constantly changing, so there's always a reason to stop in. They offer generous store credit for your used books (often two or three times as much as Half Price Books offers for the same books). The staff is universally charming, be they human or canine, and they place a wonderful emphasis on local artists with their offeringnof stickers and zines.”
“Such a fantastic selection of diverse and inclusive books!! And the staff are truly so kind and helpful. This bookstore also hosts some of the best bookish/author events in the city! I plan to come again as often as possible!”
“Great local book store with a decent selection and fair pricing. All of the staff are wonderful, and if they don’t have a book in stock they can quickly order it for you.”
“Amazing little polish bookstore. When in doubt, you can always call ahead to see availability of a title. Lady there is very friendly and very helpful. Amazing experience.”

6926 Roosevelt Rd, Oak Park“I WORK NEAR NEEDFUL THINGS, AND FOR YEARS I HAVE VISITED THIS STORE. I FEEL LIKE A KID EVERYTIME I GO INSIDE. SO MANY BEAUTIFUL THINGS CALL MY ATTENTION. I COULD STAY THERE FOR A LONG TIME, AND I ALWAYS BUY THINGS THAT BRINGS ME HAPPINESS. I LOOOOOOVE THIS STORE! ”
“Awesome products that aren’t only books but also stickers and bookmarks(and totes, cups, candles etc.) inspired by some of the best written romances. Owner restocks frequently and covers all the niches of romance books. Great place to sift through gems and really indulge in the aesthetic of books you love.”
“Best record store in Chicago, period. I lived in Lincoln Square for 4 years and made it a part of my regular routine to stop here on my walk home from the train station at least once a week. They are always getting new goodies in so you have to go often or you might miss something good! Very well organized. Insane selection of vinyl, CDs and actually a good book collection in the back. From brand new music to classics from the 60's, they carry it all. And eclectic stuff that is tough to find. The people who work there will become your friends. Gem store in the best 'hood in Chicago!”

5517 W Belmont Ave, Chicago“Very friendly. In a hay stack of Ukrainian Christian greeting cards, they were able to pull out one in English, worded perfect for my Pastor (not Priest). Awesome!!”
“Wonderful Service and inventory! The Owner has a heart to serve and creates an atmosphere the Spirit can thrive in & will lead you to the right choice! Absolutely recommend visiting!!!”
“This was an unexpected quirky store . Lots of trinkets and ideas kids created and were sold in this store, along with different creative books. Overall a very unique and fun store to be surprised. Right next to Shuga Records on Milwaukee Ave.”
“Fantastic selection on African American and African history, biographies, children's literature, comic books with Black/Latino characters, selections of hair and skin care like shea butters, aprons, artwork by Black artists, teachers resources too.”
“A large variety of current and past books by old and new authors. Also CDs and small gifts and keepsake items for giving excellent customer service. Along with the delicious sit down and relax area and even further in the back there is an area to read on beautiful leather sofas. Well done, and thoughtfully designed .”

5507 W Belmont Ave, Chicago“Amazing selection of books- if it's not there- it will be ordered. The owner is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely will be returning in the future!”
“I love this place. The staff are great, the products available are amazing, and I love playing in the Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments too. I used to play competitive Yu-Gi-Oh at this location, building my Yu-Gi-Oh collection back up, and can't wait to come back, meet new people, form more connections, see old friends, and more! 10 out of 10 from me, dadgumit!!”
