I normally don’t air out dirty laundry on Facebook…
However, this may be beneficial to the people that live in the surrounding towns or more specifically in the same town as my family.
DO NOT BUY from J & D Auto, LLC
We purchased a car from here on April 9th, literally the day we drove off the lot the air conditioning went out of the vehicle (after we were told it was fixed).
The owner of the dealership asked us to take it to Extreme Auto in Benton, and it was there for a week. We got it back, the air worked for 24 hours… We were told to take it back and when talking to the mechanic at Extreme Auto we’re told the owner of J&D auto told them to do “the bare minimum” to get it fixed and that there were some burnt wires at the fuse box. So it sits some more at the shop, Except this time we actually needed the car, so we asked if we could take it on a Friday and bring it back on the following Monday… we were told it was fine to take but the air wasn’t fixed. We drive the car, bring it back. Drop it off at the shop… it’s there for another week… but alas it’s finally fixed. The mechanic says it was a bigger issue with the air, but it was fixed…
So we drive it home. Nice cold air, the real good life. Drive the car to work the next day to Carbondale. This a Tuesday. I get about a mile from work and the car has a warning come on that says “Service Traction Control” followed by, “Engine Power Reduced”… so the car is barely accelerating, but I make it to work. Called the mechanic he says, “no big deal, start it back up and it should come out of it”, so i do, he was right, no warnings, car is good to go!! Except about five minutes in to driving it around the lot at work it completely dies…, the car reluctantly starts up, I barely make it to the parking spot and it dies and will not even turn over. So I call the mechanic, he says have it towed here… thankfully Nicole’s step dad helped with that, and we got the car from Carbondale back to Benton… easy right.
Mechanic gets it back, has it about another week. Lets us know the car is good to go, he had to replace the fuse box, change a radiator hose and we are all good. So we pick it up. Drive it to work the next day, and then Nicole drives it to Marion to make the second payment on the car ironically enough, the car we have now “had” for two months but was only in our possession for maybe a total of a week and a half, and the car dies again in Marion, I call the mechanic and he says “no big deal, it’s in limp mode”, however o can’t think of many instances where limp is a good thing, unless you’re cooking noodles. So Nicole starts it up, makes it down the road a few blocks, and then same warnings and it’s now in the parking lot at The Hub for the weekend…
Call the owner of the dealership, she says she is going to take care of the air but nothing more, but that the car had no issues before we had it… except we’ve hardly had it at this point. She says to take it to Zimmerman in Benton, where it currently sits and it has been there going on three weeks and we are coming up on our third payment.
Zimmerman calls and aren’t quite sure what’s going on or what the other mechanic did… but they are trying to figure it out.
The owner of J&D auto says she is basically done and good luck, and has sided with the mechanic who is saying when we took it that second time, that’s when the wires were burnt… and that we hooked it up to a computer prior and she did that said the car “checked out”.
So there is no resolve. J&D Auto got their money, and Extreme Auto got their money so they don’t really care. So now this vehicle we have purchased three months ago, but have barely had that still sits at a shop, and the owner or previous mechanic claim no responsibility.
So just some friendly advice based on my experience. Do not do business with J&D Auto or Extreme Auto in Benton, IL. Unl

First of all they don't force you to come in to buy a vehicle no matter what make you decide you want it's your choice and decision to make on buying any vehicle I have never had any trouble with J&D AUTO SALES,Devon has always been very honest with me about everything I bought from her lot,and this is my OPINION I DON'T BLAME HER FOR THE TRUCK I BOUGHT FROM HER,THE TRUCK RUNS GREAT BUT I BLAME GENAL MOTORS FOR MAKING A RUSTED TRUCK. ALL CHEVY AND GMC RUST OUT.

I have purchased 3 vehicles from them in the past 5 years and all have been wonderful vehicles. a 1999 Honda civic, and 2 different 2006 Honda Odessy Vans and we love them! Very honest and upfront and has accommodated us on viewing times ect. We defiantly will go to them with any vehicle needs we have.

Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy anything from these crooks! My husband and daughter purchased a car from here. It broke down after a week. My husband called to mainly to get a recommendation for a mechanic, since we did get it as is. As soon as ge said the vehicle he got, she hung up on him!

Sold us a car for $5900 that ran good with no engine light then 2 days later engine light and all kinds of problems! They just get them running to get them sold and out the door and take advantage of people.

Drove over two hours to find out the truck I came to see was already sold. Blatant shady used car dealer tactic to get you on the lot. Avoid at all costs, what a joke...

She took advantage of me, an 18 year old trying to buy his first car because i was in a dire situation and needing a car asap. She sold me a car for right around $3,000 and said nothing was wrong. A month and a half later it's check engine light is on and the transmission is potentially going out.

Went to the lot to try and buy a van within business hours nobody was there and nobody answered the phone when we called the multiple numbers. Someone finally got ahold of us and by the time she was able to get there we had to go to work we set an appointment for later in the day and they sold the van out from under us. Do not recommend doing business with this company they are shady and even with an appointment it's first come first served. If you are lucky enough to find someone in the office.
