We adore Dr. Tim. He's different from most vets. He has a wealth of knowledge and will save you a lot of money in vet costs. The office is nothing fancy. Everyone there is nice. It's a busy practice, and you may have to wait a while to get seen.

I have been in many times over the last decade, usually when my main vet in OFallon has been unable to see my pet in a timely manner. It's not my favorite place, awkward waiting area and longer waits, but I could appreciate the vet's old school/country vet approach and typically lower pricing. It is always an odd visit with him but I generally get the shots or ear infection meds we need and I'm on my way. He has also written prescriptions for heartworm meds for me to fill at Costco pharmacy. However, after today I will not be returning to Hoof and Paw. I brought in my dog who they had seen last summer because he's had itchy paws and ears. I had him neutered and annual shots done at Nashville Animal Clinic in the spring since the price was about half of vets in this area. I showed them that paperwork so they could update their file. When Dr Tim came in we chatted briefly and he told me to switch my dog to grain free food, add coconut oil to it, and asked about my preventative meds. I told him we were still using the TriHeart Plus (off brand Heartgard, saves me hundreds per year) that I get at Costco. He said I should switch to Simparica Trio and I said that would be fine. Without a physical examination of my dog's paws, ears, skin or eyes he declares its contact dermatitis and gives him a steroid shot. I had to hold the dog for the shot, there is no tech to help with these things. After that I assumed we'd wrap up the conversation but he just started to leave. I asked about the prescription for Simparica Trio and he said he wouldn't be doing that and I was very confused. We just stood there for a minute and I said "Because I fill my prescriptions at Costco?" He said that was why and tossed my file on the table, exiting the room with a rude "Go back to Nashville." At the front desk I told the ladies what had happened and they said it's too big of a hassle to send prescriptions out (it's just a paper prescription, I take it with me and handle it from there). I have never been sent a policy change on this and let the ladies know to shred my file. The odd interactions have become unprofessional and I will no longer visit or recommend this vet.

DO NOT bring your pets to Hoof and Paw and Dr. Tim. Dr. Tim has a biased against certain breeds, particularly pit bulls and killed my dog. I brought my healthy non-aggressive female pitbull in for a checkup. During the visit he yelled at me about owning a pit bull. He was so unprofessional a staff member apologized to me. I wish I would have gotten up and took her home, but I trusted this person and I trusted that as a veterinarian, he would take care of my animal. He sedated her and sent me home with my sweet dog and she died during the night. He knowingly sent me home with a dog that he knew he over sedated. And I believe he did this on purpose. Now I have to live with the guilt that I brought my sweet baby dog to this monster. Do not go there under any circumstances. I wish I could give a minus rating.

My dog is 1 and has went here for all her shots. She has never had a problem getting her vaccines. I told the vet that she has a problem with getting her NAILS clipped, the same vet that has given her all her shots, to get a recommendation on her NAILS. I’ve debated coming back each time because of the way I was talked to each time. He did not try ONCE to give my dog her vaccines before he tried to put a muzzle on her, she did not like that. He concluded that I should get someone else to bring her because I was scared of her. I’ve had dogs my entire life, I am not scared of her at all. He continued to speak to me like I was uneducated and was surprised when he was spoke back to in the same manner. He decided that she needed to be tied to a pole outside to get her vaccines. She was not aggressive before she got her shots, when she got her shots, or after. Only When he tried to muzzle her for no reason without even trying to give her her vaccines and even then she was trying to get away before she got agitated. She is very friendly and affectionate. Never even barked during the whole ordeal. One employee there even agreed that it was uncalled for. I would like to note that I am a YOUNG BLACK WOMAN.

Dr. Tim is amazing. This is a vet you can trust and you know you won't walk out of a visit nickel and dimed and owing over $300 like most corporate vets do now.
