My child has been a patient of Chestnut for several years. The first NP Ashley was great but once she left to work somewhere else we were given a new Nurse Lori Sparr, to prescribe medicine… She has no idea what she’s doing. The medication she prescribed my child caused hallucinations & made the depression worse, but instead of trying a different medication she wants to keep upping the dose more and more each time making the symptoms even more terrible & extreme. It makes absolutely no sense.I told the nurses line over the phone that I wasn’t comfortable with him using this medication anymore and that we want to try something different. The nurse said that she will talk to Lori Sparr , but can’t see us until the next appointment which was two weeks away. When you have a child on psychiatric medication, you don’t wait two weeks when they are severely depressed and hallucinating… You see them right away. That’s common sense. They didn’t tell me how to wean him off the current medicine or what we should do in the meantime.. . That is completely unprofessional and dangerous. We went to a different doctors office to get a second opinion and now my child is on a new medication and thriving.Do not use Chestnut!!!They play around with psychiatric medication and don’t seem to care about the devastating effects their choices have on children who are in their care.I will be filing complaints with whatever offices I need to including the better business bureau.

This place does not deserve one star. They are the worst. They miss scheduled appointments with no call to reschedule. They have left my sister hanging several times. Today, my sister had a scheduled phone appointment and they didn't bother calling. My sister called the office and left a message, but they never called back. My sister has mental health issues. My sister was in need of medicine to help her sleep. She's anxious and has been up for 2 days straight. Chestnut needs to be shut down. Rebecca and Ashley need to find different careers. Clearly, they don't want to work and/or help the mentally ill. I will be filing a complaint on my sister's behalf with her Medicaid Insurance and the State.

They are a joke ! Counselors are a joke ! They will not help anyone with mental health problems. I talked to someone 5 times still no evaluation . The state needs to shut them down ASAP

I hope this place gets shut down . They are literally forcing me to quit my job so I can attend group 3 times a week. I’m not even on drugs and have explained to them that I don’t need 3 groups a week . They don’t care about me feeding my family or truly helping they just want to get paid for you being there. This company is horrible

My oldest daughter has struggled with mental health for a couple years now every since her biological father abandoned her and we tried everything we could as parents(mom and stepdad) to help her first before seeking counseling. Her doctor referred us to Chestnut which also visits her school weekly which is definitely convenient. However, after 3 sessions, the counselor by the name of Teresa Spies decides to call DCFS on my husband claiming my daughter told her my husband hits her and her sisters. My husband has NEVER laid a finger on our girls and he has raised my oldest daughter as his own for almost 10 years. We came to you people for my daughter's sake seeking help to make things better and your counselor made things worse. When I asked my oldest daughter about this, she told me she told the counselor she got spanked a couple times when she was younger for doing things she wasn't supposed to do but my husband doesn't beat her and hasn't even spanked her in a quite a few years. This lady took that info and turned it in to DCFS. I now have to take off work early to let these people in my home to inspect every inch of it. Your counselor had one job and it was to help me help my daughter on coping and depression. Instead she caused another fiasco. Do you people know how embarrassing it is to live in a small town and your neighbors see DCFS show up at your door especially when you've done nothing to deserve that? I just wanted help for my daughter and all you people did was scare her in to thinking she's getting taken away for no reason! Not to mention my 2 little ones were also pulled from their classes for no reason and scared of the lady that says she's a friend and they can talk to her when she's a complete stranger to them. Teresa Spies needs her license pulled immediately. How many other innocent families has she done this to? Now my daughter doesn't even want to see another counselor to get the help she needs. You're supposed to help people, not make them feel like they can't trust you!

So far we had primarily dealth with comwell and theyve been great from case manager to psych team to counselors to communicating with drs. Thats more randoph county which is a couple miles from us and where dr is. However home address being st clair when things escalated in need we had to request chestnut and i will say they did immediately show up for home visit and eval as requested however the keeping up and following through im still yet to see but they have answered phone so my rate is based on response so far.
