I'm 16 and my brother is almost 11, and we've been taking lessons here since 2017 with Katy. The owner, Jeff, is knowledgeable and kind, and all the teachers are welcoming and give great advice. I've had many opportunities to be in their shows, programs, and I've bought all my supplies from there. I'm even on the website - thanks Jeff! Would highly recommend coming here, I've never been to another music school/shop like it.

Meh. The guy at the counter talked down to me when I inquired about music lessons and rates. Considering the place was completely devoid of customers, one would think he would be happy with possible business. In addition, I didn't find the selection of guitars and accessories to be spectacular. In the future, I'll head to Minstel Music in Niles.I've not had good luck with a few of Barrington's small businesses. Maybe these people are rich and buy these businesses on a lark, and have zero desire to make profits. Who knows?

Both of my children spent many years taking lessons at Consolidated Music. They developed a passion and appreciation for all things music, learning how to play guitar and bass successfully. Jeff is an amazing shop owner who cares for all of his clients. My younger son is now at San Francisco Conservatory of Music and studying with top musicians from around the world. I am grateful to all that Consolidated Music offered my children and the second home it became for us.

This music store is such a small town gem! It's the kind of place where the teachers stay long term, watching their students grow as musicians and individuals. Jeff, the owner, is a real expert and always goes that extra mile to help the students and the community. We are lucky to be able to support our local independent music center.

Greta place for music lessons! But the owners wife is a little mask crazy! Doesn't matter what the CDC says or IDPH she follows her own twisted logic! No Illinois mask requirements but she is very unfriendly and hostile when it comes to the mask! If you want to choose to wear a mask knock yourself out, but let your customers make their own choice! If there was still a mask mandate in place uphold that all you want! But it's time to give up the charade.

For almost five decades, Consolidated Music under its owner Jeff has provided everything customers want in a serious local music shop: a solid variety of instruments and equipment for rent or purchase, with an exceptional guitar section; a knowledgeable staff of working musicians; private music and voice lessons; attentive familiarity with its clients; and so much more, always with an air of genuine professionalism.For six years, before our son headed off to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Consolidated Music was his second family. During his years at one of the finest music schools in the country, our son still traveled home to purchase his guitar needs from Jeff, instead of across the street from school at the Guitar Center on Massachusetts Avenue. Our son is still in touch with his longtime guitar teacher, although neither of them still lives in Barrington—one on the East Coast, one on the West Coast.Our son met another of that same teacher’s students at a local songwriters’ circle hosted by Consolidated. Years ago, that young girl moved to Nashville, where she pursues her singing career, yet she too remains in touch—they continue to collaborate on projects and produce music together.Over the years, we have recommended Consolidated Music to many of our friends whose sons exhibit a special interest in playing guitar or working with a band. Consolidated Music has always been much more than a local music shop—it serves as an artistic space, a gathering place for budding musicians.

I think I've purchased five guitars from Jeff and Consolidated Music. The service is top-notch and Jeff couldn't be a nicer, more honest person. My only complaint is, the guitars sound so much better when someone else is playing it. I get a lot of requests when I play but I continue to play anyway.
