Nice place to visit. Customer service was not that great. Sales rep had some kind of weird attitude. They probably need more training in customer service. Team is knowledgeable, but sometimes knowledge can get into one's head.

I bought a 1000$ brand new guitar in box and when I got home discovered the volume knob did not work at all, so I drove back to exchange it, I talked to the same employee who sold it initially who showed 0 interest in apologizing for the inconvenience (but that's not a big deal). Then I asked for a price match since I found it online few dollars cheaper and she said "really man? you're going to make me do this again?" meaning having to issue a new receipt due to the price match, and I said... yes? then she called somebody for an override code and contemptuously told him "this guy wants X dollars" (it was like 8 or 10$ can't remember) making it sound as if I was begging for money, almost as if I was the one having to apologize for asking for a price match. She was rude with 0 professionalism during the whole experience, pretty disappointing for a music store of this reputation. All this made the experience of buying a 1k$ guitar pretty uncomfortable and will avoid coming back if possible. Try anything you buy in the store before you leave, or buy online.

The guy who actually works on the guitars is very helpful! Everybody else sucks. They will look at you judge and ignore you. I actually had to interrupt employees talking about their weekend to get help and the answers were short and unhelpful just to get me to leave them alone. They could be fixing the shelves because both times I grabbed a cable it rang up at different prices then it appeared to be. I eventually found what I needed on my own but wanted to see if I could hear it demonstrated. I went back to the guitar tech repair, who happen to have another employee step up to him before me. I waited patiently for them to finish but the other employee asked what I needed and then went full sarcasm with every response. Could just be his humor but after being ignored for 30+ minutes it just came off as rude. So if you need help go to the repair gentleman. I'm sure its not his job, but no one else is doing it.

Customer Service is a crap shoot here. It always depends on who you get. They used to have an employee who always made sure the guitars on the racks had clean strings on them and were in tune. He was the only one who did this and took it upon himself anytime. He had free time to make sure he was keeping up with the cleanliness and care of the instruments. I haven't seen him there in a while. I've been a musician since I was 14 and played and professional level bands. When I go into a guitar store and there are guitars that are priced in the upper hundreds and thousands and the strings are dirty... Might as well just be honest and say filthy and out of tune. It's discouraging because you do not get the full impression of the instrument. The last time I was there, which will be the last time I was there, I asked an employee would just spent the last 15 minutes socializing with another employee, why the strings were dirty especially on the more expensive instruments that I tried. I tried. He told me he was too busy to do it and he was the only one there that did anything like that and he had too many other responsibilities and walked away without saying anything else. If you're too good for your job, you don't deserve it. And I guess this guitar center is too good to have me as a customer. I'm sure there are many other musicians out there who have been frustrated and discouraged by the same attitude and lack of attention to cleanliness and detail with these very expensive instruments.

I really don't want to take the time to write this; however, it's almost necessary. I went to this store yesterday afternoon. 2-3 customers, no heavy traffic. I waited, waited and waited for Matt to help me out. I was next in line. Once he was finally done with the gentleman in front of me, I really thought he'd apologize and ask what he could do to help. Nope. He bolts out to another customer who just walked in, in another room. Ok. It might be important. I wasn't in a big rush. But, then he takes off. In all my years, I've never seen this before. After about 40 minutes, I decided to finally leave and figured I'm forced to travel to the Lombard location. I was looking to spend a good amount of money. It was all very rude and frustrating. Sorry for the rant; it had to be said. Especially, since my background, Ph.D., is in designing and developing organizations.

We had a great experience picking out a keyboard for my husband. He's been wanting one for a while so we went to try them out. The store manager, Matt, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He was able to answer all of our questions and helped us load the car. We got a great deal with the holiday discounts and are very excited to get it set up.
