Adopting our Mini F1 Bernedoodle from Central Illinois Doodles was a great decision, especially for first time owners!
I wanted to wait to post an honest review until I was confident that CID was the right choice for us. Frank (formerly Blade) is now a little over 7 months old, and he is in great health, has a wonderful disposition, and he is so handsome!
After a lot of research, CID stood out as a breeder that shared our values and approach to raising a happy and healthy puppy. There were several positive reviews, John's transparency was refreshing, and we appreciated his diligence in the screening process.
John made the entire process very easy and smooth. He is knowledgeable, patient, caring, and he provided us with helpful tips and resources.
When we arrived to pick up Frank, we were impressed by the facility being so spotless and spacious. We had plenty of time to meet and get acquainted with our new puppy. We even got to meet his mom (Bella), dad (Rev), and siblings!
The transition to our home was easy for our pup. He adjusted fairly quickly and has been learning so fast. He socializes well with other animals and people, has a great temperament, is very playful and loving, and he has such a cute and funny personality. We couldn't have asked for a better pup!

Our bernedoodle pup is now 9 weeks old and has already charmed the household (though the cat is still holding out judgement). Working with John was a pleasure. The process was clear from start to finish. He was genuinely interested in who was getting his pups, and that we would continue to love and care for them as he and his family had. He has been available for questions and supportive from start to finish.
I highly recommend Central Illinois Doodles as a breeder of healthy and beautiful bernedoodles.

I adopted Gus (previously Cash) a month ago. I already had a full-sized Bernedoodle (76 lbs) and was sold on the breed but wanted to go smaller. I did a lot of research and found CID. I spoke with John and really quizzed him with questions my veterinarian had prepared. His answers were all perfect and his knowledge on the breed, dog breeding and puppy health was excellent. But I had to see for myself. I went to CID to pick out my puppy, fully prepared to walk away if I was not completely satisfied. The place was immaculate! The nursery was clean and safe. I looked over ALL the dogs, pups and parents, and was completely satisfied that they were not only healthy, but happy. I met John's girls (the co-stars in the puppy videos) and they were sweet and wonderful with the puppies. I was already prepared to give them an A+ rating but wanted to wait until I had Gus home for a few weeks. He is a healthy, rambunctious and loving addition to our family. My 5‐year-old Bernedoodle absolutely loves him and he enjoys rough-housing with his big sister. They make a good team! I HIGHLY recommend CID if you are looking for a mini-Bernedoodle. John and his family are wonderful.

We just recently adopted our sweet Cece (mini bernedoodle) from Central Illinois Doodles. She is the sweetest puppy! You can tell that she was treated very well and loved her first weeks of life and has been well socialized already (she loved playing with my daughters and other dog instantly). John was amazing to work with and always quick to respond to any questions I had. So happy we went with Central Illinois Doodles - it has been a great experience!

After researching breeds and breeders, I found Central Illinois Doodles. Within minutes of submitting an inquiry, I received a call from John. Our conversation was very informative and helped me feel confident in my decision to purchase a mini bernedoodle. It’s clear through their social media posts that John and his family are very passionate about these dogs (both parents and puppies). I loved that his children play such a huge role in the handling and socialization of the puppies. My biggest concern was purchasing from a broker or puppy mill, and I can say that CID is not that. These dogs have a beautiful, clean space, are well cared for, and are healthy. We picked up our sweet Ivy (previously Gracie) on July 1st. Ivy has been such a joy to have in our home and has been a great companion for my 7 year old son. She is an extremely intelligent, sweet, and snuggly pup. John made sure that every question I had was answered and was clear that if I had any additional questions after we took Ivy home, I could still reach out. Central Illinois Doodles is a wonderful, FAMILY-run business, and I am so glad to have purchased Ivy from this family. Thank you, John!

You can't find a better breeder to get your Bernedoodle!!!
We have had a wonderful experience adopting Benny (originally Alex) from Central Illinois Doodles. Their facilities are cleaner and more well cared for than most hospitals! That is not an exaggeration as you will see if you go there. The puppies could not have chosen a better place to come into this world. We brought Benny home May 15 and he has been a joy. John Jess has been great about helping us with followup questions (regarding food, training, etc.). Benny is house broken, we believe, as he has not had any accidents for a long time. He rings his bell and we make sure he has plenty of potty breaks. He is smart and learns quickly. He can be a little stubborn and knows how to work the crowd. He wants to be the center of attention! Ha! He has stolen our hearts.
We did several months of research before we adopted, and are delighted we chose John Jess's Central Illinois Doodles! We could not have done better!

Jumping on the five star review train for Central Illinois Doodles!!
We picked up fabulous Fay the first week of June. John allowed us a little bit more time for pick up and not only was Fay ready to go, but she was already well on her way to potty training! If you haven’t watched some of the videos that John and his family put on their site, the dogs and puppies receive so much attention and playtime from John and his adorable family that these dogs are perfect when it’s time for pick up.
The facility in which John has the dogs and puppies, is so clean. Honestly, when you walk in you, don’t even know that there’s a beautiful breeding facility on site because it’s just so clean. John is also available for questions and concerns via email or just a quick phone call.
Fay has been a delight for our family. We’ve always been a golden retriever family for well over 20 years, but we wanted to experience a different kind of dog, slightly smaller and non shedding. Fay is a wonderfully spirited dog, super fun and very intuitive. She will be five months May 24 and I’m pretty convinced by then she’ll be completely potty trained! She goes toe to toe with our 2 older golden retrievers and they just have so much fun running and playing
I can’t recommend John and Central Illinois Bernadoodles more!! You won’t find healthier, well cared and socialized dogs than these!

We purchased our female mini bernedoodle in May 2024. Stella, formerly Jacki, has been a wonderful addition to our home. She is a great dog and extremely intelligent. She learns new things quickly. We wanted a dog that would attach primarily to me. On our 4-1/2 drive home I sat in the back seat with Stella. She has been attached to me since. We would definitely recommend Central Illinois Doodles to anyone considering a new pet addition to their home. Dwayne H

We purchased a mini bernedoodle from Central Illinois doodles in April. We chose a female. Bailey (formerly Mitzi) is incredibly healthy, smart and just amazing. She has been such a wonderful addition to our family. We have been doing training with her for two months now and she retains so much. Very smart and sweet. We will be back to Central Illinois Doodles for another puppy.

We are thrilled with our new Bernedoodle puppy. John made the process easy and informative. We took our puppy to the vet for his routine check up and the vet commented numerous times how healthy he was and how impressed she was with him. It was evident to her that great care was given to our puppy before we took him home with us. Our puppy is smart and great with our kids. We highly recommend John and his team.

It’s taken me nearly 2 years to post our review, but I did want to write about our experience with John and Central Illinois Doodles. Everything posted about his attention to detail, and the overall operation is true, but I’ve not seen many reviews that address how very, very special his mini Bernedoodles are in their emotional intelligence and ability to provide emotional support. We have had an inordinate amount of unexpected death and illness in our immediate & extended family in the past 18 months & our boy, Kian ( Reed) has been an constant emotional support for us. Not only is he extremely intelligent, he picks up every nuance of emotion and will lie in our laps for hours providing support and love. I can’t say enough about the quality of our dear boy and his temperament and overall quality. There is definitely a difference with John & his family’s dogs and in our opinion they are worth every penny many times over.

I reserved Sport, a bernedoodle puppy on Christmas Day. The process was incredibly easy. John asks thorough questions getting to know the family each dog goes to, making sure he feels comfortable with the placement. Upon picking Sport up, John gave us ample time to meet and get acquainted with the puppy, introduced us to the puppy’s parents, and showed us the facilities. The facilities are spotless, very clean and gave us assurance we were working with a breeder who cares. John takes pride in what he does, and it shows in his level of care for his facilities, but most importantly his care for the pups. I would recommend Central Illinois Doodles to everyone looking for a doodle, knowing they will receive top notch service every step of the way.

What a wonderful experience it was for my wife and I visiting Central Illinois Doodles and bringing home Greeny! A quick 2 hours from Chicago, their facility is exceptional. We were very impressed with John and our experience. We were able to meet Greeny’s mother, as well as the rest of her litter before we left. John was super helpful and provided everything necessary for our time to succeed as puppy parents. Greeny has now been with us for 10 days and she is really feeling right at home! We love her so much and thankful that she was given the proper care and love for the first 8 weeks of her life. We’re taking good care of her, John! If looking for a doodle for your family, look no further than here!!
