No walk-in available. Why? Possibly because of the eve of Thanksgiving. I wonder why.

We see one of the physicians as my primary and pediatrician for my children. Recently, we have been there twice for my son when he was sick. We were turned away both times because (1) in December last year, they don’t see patients with positive COVID, (2) today, they don’t see patients younger than 14 years old. First of all, for (1), we knew he had COVID but developed ear infection, so we wanted to have it checked out and get a prescription for an antibiotic. What if I didn’t test my son, and walked in with symptoms and ear pain? At this visit, there was no mention that they don’t see patients who are younger than 14 years old. (2) Today, we came in because my son had a sore throat. They turned us away a second time. This time, because my son is younger than 14 years old. There was no communication from them to notify patients that their NPs don’t see patients younger than 14 years old. I would think the primary care NPs are trained to see patients of all ages. I don’t understand why there is such policy. The front staff told us that we either need to go to the immediate care or his pediatrician. I told them his pediatrician is here. Then they told me they don’t have pediatrician here today, which leads to the issue of poor staffing. Asides from these two sick walk-in visits, in order to schedule a well check-up visit, it would takes a long time to get in. I understand policies are in places to help improve care and efficiency. But I don’t understand these policies regarding the above scenarios. They do not makes sense. The communication is poor regarding notifying patients of changes. Needless to say, we will not utilize this NCH primary care anymore for well check-up nor sick visits.

I've been a patient at this office for a decade and the customer service has been deteriorating for awhile, it's at its lowest and I'm ready to find a new practice for my health care needs. The walk-in clinic hours are not consistent, they shared hours that were not always accurate. This is very inconvenient and frustrating as a patient. When I tried to make an appointment, they suggested I use their walk-in hours... When I explained, I had tried to use their walk-in hours without success, I was told to come first thing, which isn't convenient with my schedule.

- poor availability. 6 mo. out for primary, 3 mo. for derm.- poor communication from staff. was told to have blood work done along with physical and would need to "come back". was not told blood work was done in lab and did not require appointment. I had wasted time off from work to come in and learn this.- got a referral to mental health and therapy department and missed initial call. i called back but never received any return call. its been two years.- my SO called to set up an appointment for a primary care visit and never received a call back.- came in for rash on body that wasnt responding to ointment. dr was 25 minutes late, had me take my shirt off but did not get out of his chair to look at or test rash. prescribed me some things and sent me on my way. total visit time <10 minutes. rash was not responding to treatment so I contacted the office. dr prescribed me more steroids and told me to continue on. rash has continued to get much worse since then and i am currently seeking 2nd opinion.I understand things are hard in the medical world now, but I have had issues with this location since before the pandemic. I came to this location after Dr. Man had relocated here from her previous office off of Hicks. She is a fantastic doctor and I welcome the day she is at a new location, but until then I can not come here anymore, for my own physical and mental health.

Not sure what the deal is with all of the poor reviews. I've been going here prior to the renovation (~around 2020). Before and after have been good experiences. I've also been to multiple other NCH facilities, all with good experiences.

Lousy. Extremely slow. Had an appointment for a tetanus shot. I have been waiting in the room for an hour and still no shot. Would definitely avoid NCH on Rand in Arlington Heights.

This review only applies to the ultrasound technician on duty today June 17th not the staff interception area who was cheerful telephoto and was aghast that might endocrinologist still used a fax machine. So the technician was cold that's okay I don't expect warm from somebody I asked it was okay to talk she said snow I'll be asking you questions and you giving you directions to breathe no talking while she's getting ready I did talk in the meantime she says don't talk anymore I said okay you can tell me to shut up you don't have to be polite and laughed. At the completion of the ultrasound she said you can go out the door to your right without checking in with everyone and just late I said okay I grabbed my personal belongings and reminded her to give me my sunglasses which were in a different location and and gave them to me with a second set of identical directions on how they get the heck out of that room to the right in through the reception don't talk to anybody. Well I opened the door and it didn't have to stop so it can it banged against the wall a little bit it was nothing intentional and I was completely innocent this technician took it upon herself to give me a scolding that that was rude and you're not be banging the door in here well okay I wasn't rude the doorbell rings on its own blah blah blah and this was after I had waited a full hour and 45 minutes to get my test in my opinion I think that she appears to believe stitches paid extra to treat her client who visit her rudely for no apparent reason.

Booked a problem visit for a concern and was able to get in next day. The scheduler told me appointment was at 10:40, so I arrived at 10:38 to check in. Apparently, my appointment was at 10:30 actually (either scheduler told me wrong time or I misheard) and because now I was technically 8 mins late, the doctor wouldn’t see me and I was asked to reschedule for July…literally 2 months later. I said forget it and walked out, and can’t believe they did not allow at least a10-min grace period for a patient, when doctors consistently make you wait FAR longer in a waiting room until you’re seen. Will never go here again and will tell everyone I know to stay far away. They do not put patient’s first, and are more than willing to give away your scheduled time to someone else.Edited to add: Received an automated letter from NCH about “missing this appointment” so called back to explain what ACTUALLY happened and found out that the practice seriously tried to fabricate my check-in time to be 10:46, which would have been 16 minutes late and likely within reason for them to turn me away. I’m quite sure they did that so they don’t have on record that they cancelled an existing patient appointment (one who has never been late to an appointment in the past two years at NCH) after only 8 minutes, for no reason. However, what they did not realize is that I have a call record from exactly 10:44am that day, to the office, and spoke to someone and left a message for the office manager to discuss this issue. Curious then how I “checked in” two minutes after calling to complain about being turned away? Not to mention my cell location would reveal where I actually was, which was driving away at that point. I doubt it’s legal to manipulate medical records…beware of this shady practice.

This review is for the dermatology services offered at 1051 W Rand Rd. Title: A good dermatology clinic plagued by availability issues. Review: The office staff are friendly, the dermatologists are very nice providers and more often than not treat the right condition. Skin conditions being complex it's often a game of cat and mouse til the root cause is found and cured. That game of cat and mouse is made far harder in this office because of availability problems. I can't blame them for having such a short list of dermatologists in this clinic. If you have relatively basic needs and time isn't critical and you're heavily connected to the NCH team then this clinic should do fine for you. If you have little connection to Northwest Community Hospital (my primary doc is out of Advocate. I barely use NCH services aside from emergency and immediate care. I was sent here by immediate care) then you'll probably be better served by a private fully staffed dermatology center. As this is not that. NCH dermatology is a small sub specialty within their specialty services. I would have kept the doctor on my treating staff if his availability wasn't plagued by overscheduling. They're clearly understaffed and the office has a hall of rooms as far as the eye can see yet availability problems will have you waiting weeks or more for an appointment. If time is of an essence and you need high availability, go to a dermatology clinic that does nothing but dermatology because this place is way too busy. The office is clean and the waiting area accommodates plenty of people with social distancing. Front desk staff are nice and when you can get an appointment they see you on time every time. If getting an appointment wasn't a hop on a waiting list ordeal I'd give them five stars but because the hospital can't be arsed with having more dermatologists on staff I have to dent them a star on the rating. NCH medical group, y'all should know better by now and stack the hall with dermatologists. Competing clinics are easily taking patients away from NCH. If you want to financially survive you gotta spend money to make money and NCH clearly isn't doing that. Although clean the office is dated looking, older decor and cabinetry are evident of the executive staffs ignorance to invest in more clinicians and a better working environment for them. The clinicians aren't the problem, the executives and management are.

Every time I have been to this facility there has always been an issue. The staff is rude and not communicative. I have gone to other NCH locations and have been treated with respect, but these staff members are completely uncaring. I would recommend anyone looking into places for medical care to steer clear of this place. I am absolutely disgusted by the lack of compassion and attitude of these “medical professionals”.
