We were in the Rexburg area and looking for a unique place to eat when BJ Bayou popped up on Google maps, so we decided to go for it! We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. This place is legit and the food was INCREDIBLE. It sounded like the owner is from New Orleans so he knows what he’s doing.Such a random town, but I’m so glad we discovered it and stopped in. The staff is really friendly, service amazing, and the live gator is cool too ?I’d give 10 stars if I could! We will definitely come back whenever we are in the area again.Ps try the gator bites. SO good ?

Went to BJ’s Bayou last night after my wife’s graduation in Rexburg. IT WAS AMAZING. ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES I’VE TRIED IN GENERAL! They were super accommodating of our group of about 20! We got to say Hi to Evangeline the Alligator. The atmosphere captures you right when you walk in. They are accommodating, kind, and cares about your time there. This was HANDS DOWN the BEST Cajun food I’ve had! & I’ve spent time all over the south! When they say blackened, they know what it means. BEST BREAD PUDDING I’ve had as well. Get it extra saucy! The Chicken (Poulle) Mamou was incred, Hushpuppies were killer, Red Beans & Rice, Anything Blackened amazing! Sorry we didn’t get the photos earlier, we couldn’t stop eating. I finished the blackened chicken and the person next to me finished the blackened salmon before we could get a photo. All in all: 10/10, there was not a single aspect we didn’t enjoy. Will be going again the next time we’re in Eastern Idaho.

I WAS really excited to go to bj's because i had the pleasure of enjoying their food at the local fair. i had gator and frog legs from the stand that was at the event and was really intrested in seeing the spot that orignated such delicious savory treats. This was NOT the same wonderful experience. To start off this place was empty on a friday night. It was an old charming buidling with some flags that carried wieght of a long dead social viewpoint built with dilapidated bricks and held together with the cobwebs inside. Interior was dusty but the tables and chairs had nice clean table clothes and neatly wrapped silverware. There was also a live aligator in a small enclosure by the front door her name was evangeline and she was precious. I was greeted by a lone man sitting at the bar and was directed to sit and view the menu, i had already decided what i was gonna get before i arrived and was prepared to shell out what it costs for GOOD renditions of these meals. I had the jambalaya and the deepfried catfish 40$. Both of which were barely warm by the time i recived them and tasted like they were removed from a freezer at the start of dinner service not an hour before. The soda i ordered was fresh from a can and the glass my water was in had residue on the inside. The gumbo was wonderfully seasoned but the fly in the soup was an unexpected extra to which the hostess waved off and protested that it wasnt there when she plated it. No apology just a woopsy shrug and note that our other food would be out soon enough. Couldnt wait...

I can't say enough about BJ and his wife. They always greet me with kindness. The food is always amazing. And BJ's wife makes the best hurricane drinks. She will always sit and talk with you and even share cooking ideas.

Food was good, but not the quality to match the price imo. Place could use a good sprucing up. Also the rolls weren't cooked or warmed.

I ate their food at the Eastern Idaho State Fair, so I don't know if this should be counted, as such I am not rating it as low as I normally would. I had gator bites and fries and was not satisfied. The fries were crispy and delicious and probably the only redeeming part of the meal. The gator was very chewy (which I am told is how gator just is) and a couple of pieces seemed to be too done and over fried. I did not enjoy them at all and was not impressed. The cocktail sauce had a good flavor, although I am not a big aficionado with that kind of sauce. I don't know if I'll ever make it up to Roberts, but I will not be eating from them at the fair again.

Best down home authentic new Orleans cooking. Small town home feel and very friendly staff.
